Do you know any singleplayer games that are infinitely replayable? angielski

I recently booted up Half-Life 2 to replay it. I have played the absolute shit out of this game before, so 60% of it just feels like a drag to me now. It was such an amazing game but it’s sort of spoiled for me after I’ve played it too much....

kakes,

One I haven’t seen mentioned (at a glance at least) is Noita.

Getting the “false ending” is achievable with some effort, but I dare you to actually finish the game. And as far as replayability, you’ll be hard pressed to have two runs that go the same. The amount of Butterfly Effect in this game from all the combinations and systems is straight up insane.

I really can’t recommend it enough.

kakes,

First one coming to mind for me is Pillar Hop. Very simple, chill, and just had ads iirc (I block them, but I’m pretty sure it does, anyway.)

kakes,

I also enjoy “1010! Klooni” on F-Droid.

kakes,

Honestly, agreed. I trust Kitfox enough that I highly doubt it’s shovelware, but the art direction does kind of point that direction.

That said, it looks really interesting. Can’t wait to check it out once it releases!

kakes,

I imagine you’re being facetious, but you’d miss a lot of great games this way.

kakes,

…and?

Not like people are paying for the release date. And they did release a product, just not under “version 1.0”.

Seems like people are just mad that a game they don’t like made money.

kakes,

Idk I’ve seen a lot of people getting genuinely upset over this stuff.

kakes,

On the bright side though, they are consistently updating the game. I don’t play, but several of my friends play it all the time, and to them it definitely seems to be worth what they paid.

kakes,

Yep, “I’ve seen a lot” does in fact refer to the portion I’ve seen, which is a lot.

kakes,

I have friends that play this game basically all day every day. Doesn’t seem like vaporware to me.

Empty promises maybe, but it would be disingenuous to deny it’s perfectly playable in its current state.

kakes,

Last I played - forever ago - I was just disappointed that the random NPCs were nothing but decoration. Made the whole setting feel flat to me, sadly.

kakes,

Oh absolutely, the best cardboard I’ve ever seen.

kakes,

A lot of people are having a lot of issues with video games these days, and I experience almost none of that pain, because I (generally) stick to indie titles. These days games have never been better, but publishers have never been worse.

kakes,

Oh man, I could go on lol. Here’s a few notable ones though:

Factorio
Noita
Stardew Valley
Terraria
Project Zomboid
FTL
(Etc.)

kakes,

It’s honestly hard to explain just how cool it is. If you watch the trailer and think it’s a cool idea, just know that the game absolutely delivers on it 500%.

kakes,

“You guys actually want to play these things? Yeeesh.”

kakes,

I mean, I’ve recently bought a Fallout MtG deck (against my better judgement) and the Fallout TTRPG starter set, so they’ve got my money at least.

kakes,

Dang, I’m not normally big on Metroidvanias, but I gotta say, this looks really good.

kakes,

100%. Not enough people have played Noita.

kakes,

One that I didn’t see (or missed) is Project Zomboid. Absolutely can’t wait for Build 42 to drop (someday).

Is there some sort of Indie Game Showcase? angielski

Started playing a few indie titles on PC, or at least titles that I would not normally be able to find without digging a bit (Sea of Stars, Hollow Knight, Garden Story, etc). Finding games that are made by smaller studios is a little (not much, but a little) harder than finding “Top Sellers” on Steam. I have tried Steam’s...

kakes,

Agreed. I’ve thought about doing it myself tbh, but then I also start 15 other projects and the idea just gets washed away.

kakes,

Lately, it’s been Factorio. It’s nice to set all my worries aside and pick up an entirely new set of worries regarding factories and the growth thereof.

kakes,

Oh, also, mid-pandemic I played A Short Hike, and while not a long game, it was an incredible escape for a while.

kakes,

I told myself this for years before finally buying it, haha. It’s exactly as addicting as you think.

kakes,

Playing my first non-vanilla run with Krastorio right now, and it feels like I’m playing a whole new game. I can basically kiss my life goodbye… again.

kakes,

I’ve heard this pack can be overly complex, but I know one day I’ll give into it and never be seen again.

kakes,

Yeah, I was tempted to try K2 + SE, but the last ounce of my sanity kicked in at the last second. It’s definitely next up, though.

kakes,

Ngl one of the things I miss the most about Reddit was /r/tarotmemes.

kakes,

I play with a few friends, and I can confirm that multiplayer adds a lot to the game. It also helps with things like starving, because you can have people focusing on cooking/hunting/farming etc.

kakes,

Baldur’s Gate 3 has a lot of really hard hitting decisions, and I’m in awe at how they’re able to make the story work with just how many choices there are.

Many players have become "patient gamers". What are games people might miss out on by waiting for sales? angielski

Sales follow the tradition of supply and demand. Products come out at their highest price because of expectations and hype. Then, as interest wanes, the publisher continues to make some sales by reducing price to tempt the less interested parties....

kakes,

I would argue there’s some merit to catching the cultural “wave” of a new AAA release every now and again.

Obviously I don’t do it often, but I recently picked up Baldur’s Gate 3, and it’s been fun to talk to people about it at work and such.

kakes,

Bit of a weird one, but I was listening to Pick Up the Phone (by Dragonette) when I played Saya No Uta, and it oddly went really well together imo.

Fair warning: Saya No Uta is one of those “messed up” visual novels. It’s very good imo, but not really something I’d feel comfortable recommending to anyone.

kakes,

I’ve been looking to get back into a good JRPG - been a loooong time. Might need to check this one out.

kakes,

The “journalist” didn’t even try the demo before writing this. Thanks for the direct link, no point going through the article.

kakes,

I used to use GameMaker back in the Mark Overmars 5.0/6.0 days, but dropped it the moment it went to a paid model. This is great news, and I might honestly check it out again.

Nowadays I would generally prefer to use Godot - not a surprise, given where I’m posting. But GM was great for quick prototyping, if nothing else.

kakes,

Weakening of antitrust regulations.

kakes,

I’ll second Vintage Story. It’s gritty, fun as hell, and under active development. Can’t recommend it enough.

kakes,

Ngl I wasn’t all that interested in this game, but with local coop mode? The idea of just chillin with my wife on the couch watching numbers go up together does have an appeal to it.

kakes,

True. I’ve watched streamers play it, and I’m being overly reductive, but I guess what I mean is that it seems like a good game to zone out to and just get into that “flow” state.
