The price increase is insane. That does not seem to scale in comparison with what you’ll get in return over a regular PS5, especially if you’re gonna be forced to buy the digital editions from the PS store, which are outside of the sales often the most expensively priced versions too, I’ve practically only bought second-hand discs for my PS5 because of that.
So either games will start running at higher framerates on real 4K, like 60FPS and up. Or developers will get lazy and stop bothering to optimise for the older generation of PS5, which will then be an excuse to upgrade to the more expensive edition to play at 4K and/or 60FPS.
I really hope the latter won’t be a thing for the sake of both players and game development, there’s been enough unoptimised shit lately and I hope we can move forward again.
Frankly that’s just thinking with only PS5 exclusives in mind.
A lot of people, probably the vast majority, don’t get an Xbox or PlayStation for the exclusives. They just get one because they don’t own or want a gaming PC and look for the easier more accessible solution.
So to them the catalogue is just fine because they don’t get the console just for the exclusives.
Not sure what the point of downvoting me is, but I’d rather be interested to hear people’s counter-arguments instead. Because a lot of people seem to just assume that many console-owners have both a console and gaming PC.
Depending on how much you care about visuals, yeah.
A decent GPU will often be the price of an entire console. That said, even if you go with high-end hardware I found that eventually the cost will make up for itself for not having to pay for PSN to make use of and play on the internet. Or the fact that games are very often priced up to 50% more on the PS store than those on PC because there are no competing stores.
Figured instead of doing daily shots I’ll just dump a load of screens in an album in no particular order. Some shots might’ve been posted here before....
There are no bad takes, they’re personal preference. Not everyone likes the same game or genre.
I know people who play Football Manager and Diablo religiously. While I enjoyed Odyssey for a while. Also tons of people still play Mario Kart 8, it’s a fun game for the right audience (not me).
It’s one of those typical games that I tried because the entire world was lyrical about it, including grown adults. Figured I gave it a shot (as a grown adult myself) and it was indeed during the time we had fuck all to do. Didn’t like the game at all and frankly didn’t see the appeal of it either, it’s fine if people enjoy that kind of gameplay, but it was the most bland and “do your daily chores”-game I’ve ever played. It’s baffling how something so stale was regarded so highly.
Watching this trailer gives me hopes that we can Sonic this thing! Unfortunatly I have a sinking feeling it’ll be another Lion King, where they completely ignore the community. Ich drücke uns die Daumen!
It’s just your typical meme-movie that nobody really asked for, they gather a bunch of classic game tropes and shove it into a movie and then max out on publicity like “Haha look, so funny and recognizable Minecraft stuff. Are we right, fellow kids? We totally get you!”.
They probably could’ve gotten away with it if they just used 3D characters like the Mario movie too and it would’ve worked fine for younger audiences. It probably still will work fine for younger audiences but it feels so terribly forced.
Seems like a bit of a reach in wishful thinking lol
Nobody is going to spend that time on a ‘fixed’ version of the movie, let alone have access to everything needed to even do this. It’s more likely that someone will make a fan-made movie with audio from the original.
All they would probably need to do is replace the main cast with digital game characters, or at least something that’s rendered so they at least blend in a lot better.
It almost seems like the Sonic movie thing, where they first released a trailer that was so awful they had to change Sonic to look much better. I’m still not sure if it was a very expensive marketing move or not.
From what I read it was over 8 years in development, it should’ve been well beyond a rework, or maybe even a couple, already.
I’m almost certain that Sony, as any boss, was quite done with the whole fiasco and just said “fuck it, let’s go” and just see what happens. It probably wasn’t worth the time and effort to keep putting resources into a project going nowhere.
After the massive blunder of Starfield, I cannot see how Elder scrolls 6 could possibly be successful. Everything points to the fact that they knew that the game was not even half finished, in my opinion, with major glaring issues, and they decided to just send it off anyway. The difference between this game and Oblivion is that...
I don’t really feel like you can compare the two games. Starfield was a big scope with mostly procedurally generated content with a few handcrafted areas, which resulted in very repetitive content since they simply didn’t make enough variety in content. I feel like the procedural part and the ship and base building parts took a lot of resources away from other gameplay features, like a more interesting story or more engaing gameplay.
It also doesn’t help that Starfield still runs on an extremely outdated engine. Even if they updated it, there are still ridiculous limitations that shouldn’t even exist in this day and age. Just looking at Star Wars Outlaws gives a good impression how seamless stuff could’ve been in Starfield. Yet even entering a small shop or your ship requires a loading screen.
And on top of that the game just runs like absolute garbage on the old engine. When Todd Howard just answered with “just buy an RTX4000 card” it spoke volumes about the lack of optimisation that came with that game.
That last part is probably gonna be the biggest obstacle for Elder Scrolls 6, but having a handcrafted world will probably let them get away from a complete failure of a game already. Another obstacle might be to write an interesting story and characters, I frankly can’t remember anything from what I played in Starfield, it was generally just boring and Bethesda probably gambled on the open-world exploration experience offsetting that.
Also Bethesda needs to stop relying on mods saving the game for them, many basic functions are missing and I found myself often needing mods to have an even acceptable experience, especially with Fallout 4 and Starfield. It’s probably why Skyrim is still so popular, because there is that massive collection of mods out there.
To be honest I never found the procedural generation in No Man’s Sky good either.
It’s a better game by far, but once you have been exploring a few systems you often start finding repetitive content there as well. But there’s definitely more variety than Starfield and it’s mostly seamless too. And NMS came out about 7 years before Starfield.
I think the biggest issue is Bethesda clinging on to their engine for dear life like it’s their precious baby, and they’re keeping it on life-support with minimal updates.
Today’s is a pretty Simple one. the Game is Project Zomboid. I usually don’t like sharing 2D games because they’re hard to make look presentable, but i also like sharing images that break out of my usual “Here’s a Landscape shot” and wanted to share this. Since I’m a WoW addict, naturally I’m a Blizzard fan, of sorts. But my mind is blown every time I see anything from Call of Duty on the launcher. I’ve been really out of the loop, and recently saw this… and I’m shocked. You have to BUY the game for “open beta access”, like how does that make any sense? Also, the...
The term “beta” has been abused for so long that it’s become meaningless in terms of what it actually is supposed to be. It’s just a paid demo and/or early access.
Just look at WoW, they had a “beta” for like 2 or 3 months, and a paid early access package. Adding insult to injury they started patching/nerfing stuff like a day after early access. It’s annoying as fuck that they have many months of “testing” and then fail to fix the blatant issues until it hits live servers and even after the early access period. Everything screams like “should’ve bought the beta and early access, huh?”. Paid stuff like betas and early access are just money grabs, and people fall for it. So next expansion will probably be an even longer early access period, or more bonuses.
As for CoD looking like a collection of brainrot operators, weapons and themes, I think they are just trying to figure out ways to keep CoD relevant without releasing actual identical games every time, even if it just means changing the theme. And people are still buying it, so why would they stop.
Oh man I remember Planetside 2 launch being so insanely laggy and buggy lol
At some point we threw grenades on a giant pile because they just never went off, or sometimes just disappeared as soon as we threw them. I don’t think the devs ever tested that huge influx of players anywhere in the pre-launch stage. It’s hard to predict some things that will go different from testing to live, but man it seems so obvious with large multiplayer titles.
Even WoW still struggled with this, servers becoming laggy and unresponsive even, it’s been better last 2 expansion launches but it’s still not great. And they had over 15 years of data to go on too.
It’s a shame they never gonna bother with DLC, I had at least hoped that they’d add in the parts from the endgame that they scrapped. Supposedly there was an entire Upper City part which they scrapped. I think it included the vampire castle, which they moved and is why it’s in such a weird spot in the Lower City now.
I had a lot of crashes back at launch, but after trying out a lot of things I think it eventually came down to my GPU being undervolted, didn’t have a single crash since. The undervolt worked fine with Wukong, but that game isn’t even remotely the same scale as Outlaws.
Been at it for about 23 hours, I think ‘worst’ in-game bug I had was Kay’s hands acting weird on a speeder once, like she was grabbing the air.
Not a surprising comparisong though, It certainly borrows a lot of elements from Red Dead. But it’s also mixed with some Assassins’s Creed, Division and even Witcher elements.
You’re quite literally contradicting yourself. Saying that it’s nothing to do with the game, then proceed to claim people complaing because it’s a shitty experience.
Prices have been rising in the gaming industry all together, you can’t blame Ubisoft alone for this. And the experience has been fun to me, as well as others.
I’m almost certain the only reason Concord has players is because of social media incessantly talking about it. The only reason I know of the game is because of social media.
I’m 7 hours in and having a blast (pun intended). It’s an alright game if you’re not into SW, it’s an awesome game if you are. Reminds me a lot of Hogwarts Legacy, the game didn’t bring anythinbg new to the market, but it’s fun if you’re into the theme.
There have been a few technical difficulties but nothing as bad as games I played before, which got much higher ratings and didn’t get blasted for it as hard as people do with this game.
People just really let their hate for Ubisoft take over and jump on that social bandwagon for internet points, even though the game plays barely like any other Ubisoft game I’ve played in the past 30 years.
I bet later today Metacritic user reviews will be flooded with people who haven’t even played the game and just base their entire opinion on a few buggy game clips.
I never said I assume that every bad review is from someone who hasn’t played.
But you can’t ignore the insane amount of hate Ubisoft is getting for the most insignificant non-issues just because they’re Ubisoft. It takes like a few seconds to notice how the troll armies are linking stuff from various clickbait YouTubers and streamers on social media, and no doubt a vast majority of negative feedback is coming from there.
I’m not ignoring the legit issues this game has, because they are definitely present. And I’m doing my part in reporting them to Ubisoft, instead of making trollposts about it on social media, so we can all enjoy a better game. Sadly that isn’t part of the majority’s crusade against Ubisoft, they’re just out there farming internet points, banking on the circlejerk hate.
I can almost guarantee that the upcoming Metacritic user reviews are a prime example of “Hue hue Ubisoft bad”.
It takes only a minute to check on Metacritic what the majority of negative reviews are about.
There are a few legit ones, but most are just trashtalking Ubisoft. Or saying horsecrap like “looks like PS3 games”, which it clearly doesn’t. Or every positive review is “paid by Ubisoft”, and people even complaining about it being a woke political agenda, fucking lmao.
I strongly doubt these trolls even installed the game.
It’s alright at best. It’s just like so many other souls-like games, it’s just visually way ahead of the others. Which comes at the cost of very heavy hardware demand.
Other than that I feel like it’s overhyped as hell. I did the first chapter and frankly I’m not sure how this game would ever hit 95% score on Steam if it didn’t have China’s community backing it. Feels like a 70-75% game at best to me.
But so much other content, from books (High Republic and other novels) to games (Jedi and Battlefront) to other movies (Rogue One, Solo) and shows (Andor, Ahsoka, Mandalorian, Bad Batch, Clone Wars) have been mostly amazing.
Star Wars is only “dead” if you live in that artificial negative hellhole the online community created.
A lot of people that played the previews were quite optimistic about the game, save for a few gripes that seem to reflect in most reviews now. But the online community has been rather toxic about a variety of things, ranging from valid concerns to pointless hate. There was one IGN preview that looked pretty bland and bad, but everything else looked alright.
It’s not an innovating game, but frankly I never expected it to be. It looks like a fun immersive experience for SW fans (the actual fans, not the ones that hate literally everything about SW lol).
Have you seen the actual “criticism” lately? Like 99% of the stuff I’ve read from SW “fans” are anything but legit criticism, just trolls incessantly bitching for the sake of bitching in an attempt to raise their social media scores by lifting on the circlejerks just hating without any constructive feedback.
My comment applies to industries beyond SW as well, it has become part of the cancel culture these days. SW is just an infamous example since the new Disney movies released. Thing is that these huge corporations try to appeal to a much larger crowd than previously (this goes for other companies too) and that doesn’t always fit within people’s personal narrative.
I get that some don’t agree with choices being made, but these aren’t being made just for them. Yet a lot of people abuse this excuse to make it like a religious crusade against these corporations, a ride that a lot of people hop on to, who had nothing to do with the whole thing in the first place and just tag along for their entertainment instead of just moving along.
This game is a good example too, a lot of people just tag along with the collective hate for Ubisoft. But when you ask them the general response will be “bEcAUse iT’s uBiSOft” and have no constructive argument. Some will say it’s because the game is using the usual Ubisoft formula (it doesn’t, but that aside), so what? A lot of people do enjoy that formula, and all the people that don’t like it can move along, big enough of a world out there to find something they do enjoy, including other SW games in a variety of genres.
I quite enjoy the amount of details going into games like this, same with Baldur’s Gate 3 being so insanely detailed. It really shows the passion of the developers for the games they’re working on.
There are so many more alternative and simpler role-playing games out there that are more straight to the point, like Elder Scrolls.
Well like I said, there are a lot of alternative games out there that are suited to a more casual crowd. It’s good that developers still make games like Kingdom Come and Baldur’s Gate to provide for players looking for more depth, immersive and engaging content.
Also, turn-based games are timeless, just like many other genres that have been around for 30+ years. I know a bunch of people that would never touched these kind of games and got completely hooked on BG3 anyway. Even myself that was never really into these kind of RPGs and tried Divinity games before, BG3 was absolutely stellar. It’s one of those games that set a new standard many others could learn from these days.
Absolutely bizarre that a 1st party title doesn’t seem optimized for the console they’re developing for. This makes me skeptical the PC version will be optimized too.
I might hope it’s not because of the same reason Bethesda locked their framerates, because their entire game’s physics and other stuff would break when you unlocked it. I assume it’s not, if it’s only locked on Xbox, which then would mean that the console is just weak.
