I skipped purchasing early access because I hate FOMO practices and early access has no place in WoW.
Especially screwing over loyal players that have been playing for years and years, paying for countless months of subscriptions.
The more I hear about TWW the less I’m interested in it.
The one thing I am interested in at this point is the story, but it’s a fucking online minefield trying to dodge spoilers with this early access bullshit.
Absolutely bizarre that a 1st party title doesn’t seem optimized for the console they’re developing for. This makes me skeptical the PC version will be optimized too.
Just because 30FPS has been a standard on consoles for so long doesn’t mean it should stop there.
There’s no reason to not advance if they got the opportunity to do so, the entire gaming industry benefits from it.
Xbox is just not capable of handling the game at higher framerates, that has nothing to do with console wars or whatever, it’s just the limitation of the hardware and it being an underwhelming console in general.
It’s a little bit annoying that a lot of games are starting to heavily rely on frame generation to “fix” the performance for them.
I guess it’s supposed to offset the impact of ray tracing stuff, because it obviously eats a lot of the GPU power, but honestly this game doesn’t feel like it should be demanding that much because it’s visually alright, nothing mindblowing.
I will probably give it a shot though, I enjoyed the last Dragon Age but never finished it. I got a feeling this might end up similar for me.
Lol I can imagine, it’s often the same with shows and movies trying to do Dutch and then it ends up being the most incomprehensible and cringe attempt with an insane accent.
Hopefully they just hire legit Sicilians to do the voice acting. Otherwise they might just as well not bother.
One recent example that comes to mind from recently is a scene in Oppenheimer where apparently there’s a bit of Dutch during a lecture, but nobody can really tell what they’re even saying lol
I wish they updated some of the visuals like other MMOs often do after many years. I like GW2 and gameplay still works well, but it looks so dated compared to other MMOs that refreshed most of their stuff.
After making a decent chunk in 100% L.A. Noire, i went back to (Modded) Skyrim to take a break. I took this while walking from solitude to Winterhold to start the mage’s guild quest. I believe it’s right outside of Solitude
Hello all! My buddy and I finally finished up Baldur’s Gate 3 this week and we are not left with a giant co-op game shaped whole in our hearts. It was such an incredible experience and it was truly even more fun running through it together. We are excited to hop into another game, but we have no idea what to play. We’ve...
Man I really gotta get into finishing the first game some day soon.
I got like 8 hours in back when it came out but it never felt like I had even really started yet. It didn’t help that at the time there were pretty bad gameplay mechanics with limited savegame options that made it quite annoying to only play short sessions, but I think they’ve fixed/changed that since.
Well that explains something, but honestly it has nothing to do with the actual game itself. Would be kinda weird if reviewers focused on that instead of the game.
That’s an extremely oversimplified and overexaggerated comparison of someone comitting war crimes versus misogyny.
Supporting the game has nothing to do with it, just because people enjoy the game because it’s a good game doesn’t mean they support misogyny, same goes for the many developers that worked on the game.
It also doesn’t explain the other stuff they requested to not mention in game coverage, all of which seem to have nothing to do with the actual game.
You are judging the entire team of probably 100+ developers by one man’s actions and act like everyone that supports the game supports war crimes. That’s a batshit insane take.
Not sure why people downvote you, but most must be. Because I checked the player count this morning in Europe and it was also at 1,5 million. The only ones that play games in early hours of Europe are a majority in Asia, more specifically China. This has also been my experience with online matchmaking in early hours of the day, it’s 9 out of 10 chance I got matched with either Chinese or Koreans during those hours.
I knew of this game but had already forgotten about it. Just got notified recently because the benchmark was downloaded a lot past week.
Battlefield 1942 always stands out to me as the one that popularized large scale online battles on big maps with vehicles. At the time it was revolutionary in online gaming.
Command & Conquer: Renegade came out around the same time as well, with similar features. I kinda wish that game had a sequel as well.
Another gameplay feature that comes to mind is the exclamation/question mark above NPC characters for quests. I remember it first from WarCraft 3, but I think it really kicked off with World of WarCraft to get adopted by many more games.
I don’t remember being possible to spawn on teammates in BF1942, but definitely remember it as a first to select spawn points on map like Battlefield always did.
I can’t remember if that mod had squad spawns. But I definitely remember playing it a lot, that was an absolutely revolutionary mod with so much content, not to distract from other great BF1942 mods though. I believe the original DICE team originated from that mod team to create Battlefield 2 as well.
Good, the Steam reviews were in dire need of an overhaul. The amount of absolute garbage in the reviews and how it’s practically only used to bomb games for whatever reason is getting out of hand and it was often very difficult to get to the good informative reviews about the actual game.
The next problem will probably be that the people that review bomb games are now likely going to target helpful reviews instead. Because nothing is more obnoxious than haters taking down games and people who actually enjoy them, even if provided with helpful and informative descriptions.
A good example right now would be Star Wars Outlaws, most people who got to try the game are mostly optimistic about the game, while still being realistic about flaws and issues. But on the other side there are a load of haters using various excuses elevating the toxicity to a new level. Some of these reviewers are scared to even post their opinions because they get targeted by toxic trolls trying to take down their content because the reviewer’s opinion doesn’t fit their narrative. Some reviewers even ended up having to remove their content because it was hurting their image they’ve been working on for so long.
I think that Steam would really need are truly neutral curators judging whether reviews on Steam are legit helpful and informative or not. But with the amount of games on Steam that might be an impossible job.
Yeah it doesn’t compare to old-school demos like stuff that came on discs with magazines, but at least it’s a lot better getting the option to try something instead of buying and refunding everything. And at least some bigger studios and indi games are picking up on this as well.
Those free to play games might cost nothing, but they still got lots of people bringing in loads and loads of money. Otherwise they wouldn’t even exist in the first place, I’m willing to bet some of those free games even make more money than WoW does (because those actually are riddled with microtransactions to the point they’re often pay-to-win).
Also WoW announces their downtimes ahead and they’re part of the agreement you accept when buying into the game, which also includes extended downtime. There’s no way to maintain a game like that without downtime anyway, especially around new expansion launches and big events when it gets more hectic.
Also, just complaining how they “can’t get maintenance done in less than 9 hours” makes me believe you have absolutely no clue how insane the infrastructure behind these kind of games are. Especially those that have been running for nearly 20 years.
So first thing I notice was the top 1/3rd of the page being a blank space.
Then I remembered I had an adblocker.
That said, I rarely ever visit the website, but it looks like every generic blog/news theme format I’ve seen in the past 10 years or so lol. Never change a winning team, but it’s nothing to write home about to be honest.
Man, I really should give this game another try. I remember getting it at launch, but completely forgot about it because of other game releases at the time.
For some reason I often have games disappearing from my library, like they don’t even show up as purchased in the store…
And I also recently got a notification on top of my library that some games have been removed from my library, but that I can download them again if I go to the store page. It’s really confusing as to why they are ‘deleted’ and why they can’t just show up in my library.
I hate these dumb ‘user experience’ developments where companies are deciding what I should see in my library. I just want to see all my purchases, and have them available to me whenever I want.
I picked up all exclusives, before they went cross platform anyway. For me it was worth the buy.
I don’t think we’ll see a PS6 anytime soon though. Visual progress is probably gonna stall a bit now, best they can do is aim for solid 4K 120FPS, which would require better hardware. But I don’t think that’ll happen anytime soon.
Other than VR there haven’t really been big developments in gaming for a long time. And most of the player base ain’t ready for stuff higher than 4K. So I think it’ll flatten out for a little longer.
i already felt like Microsoft was doing little to make their consoles an interesting option (if you didn’t have a PC already), and most of their exclusives became cross platform.
I think their next console will basically just either be a streaming device or just a fancy gaming PC with Windows.
Oh I know that there are a lot of people that don’t want to get started on having to deal with picking parts, let alone putting them together themselves.
But a lot of stores also started selling pre-built gaming PCs recently, at least where I live. So it’s become significantly easier to obtain a gaming PC these days.
Other than that I feel Xbox hasn’t had as many exclusives as PlayStation lately (if we’re not counting PC ports). So then a decision between either console seems like quite an easy one for many.
