Geek_King,

That’s a tough decision to make, especially in today’s gaming marketing, but I applaud them for stepping back and recognizing what they had wasn’t good enough to sell. Blizzard made that decisions years ago with Starcraft Ghost, the Blizzard of today wouldn’t make that same call any more.

Geek_King,

7DTD is fun, but The Fun Pimps have made some perplexing design decisions. Luckily there are a ton of great mods that all have unique spins. I prefer the Darkness Falls mod, it fixes a lot of the stupid design decisions of the original makers, and ramps the difficulty since vanilla 7DTD can be pretty easy after you get built up. Darkness Falls adds supernatural demons to the mix in the late game, and a ton of new mechanics, I absolutely love it.

Geek_King,

Fantastic, Undead Legacy was on my radar! My best friend and I have played hundreds of hours of Darkness Falls and have loved every moment of it. We’ve a bit worn out on DF, but I’ll keep Undead Legacy in mind the next time we want to do another play through of a 7DTD mod! What’s the “anti-bullshit” mod do by the way?

Geek_King,

That right there is incredibly good to know. Those little changes would make it bearable! Thanks for the information!

Geek_King,

Oh man! It’s releases on all platforms at once, even PC!!! Normally PC comes out like a year later. That’s fantastic!

Geek_King,

I know, my best friend and I were watching like hawks, waiting for the traditional 1 year to elapse for a US console release. Normally it’s 1 year after Japan’s release then it comes out in the US on Playstation. Then 6 months too a year later it comes out on PC. It’s wonderful it’ll come out on PC at the same time as the consoles. That way my best friend and I can play on PCs in the same room, get better FPS, and larger screens since we won’t need to split screen for local coop.

Geek_King,

The height of new game glory for me were the old school huge boxes PC games came in. It wasn’t uncommon to get a thick manual with wonderful art, sometimes spiral bound, maps, other neat add-ins. Even console games had nice manuals with useful information you may not otherwise know. I miss that stuff.

Geek_King,

I collapsed and recycled all of my large PC game boxes out of necessary, but I have every single manual/map/pack-in though!

Geek_King,

I hope that works! I never got into digital downloads on consoles in any big way, how companies make games from the online shop inaccessible once the console goes end of life is a damn shame! It feels like the more and more consoles move toward digital only, the less we’ll have viable retro consoles in the future.

Geek_King,

I purchased Palworld today, started it up, I made a character, and walked around a bit, but I had to exit the game to go get an errand done. I get this game is aping pokemon hard, but the thing that struck me hard was how much they ripped off the “New Area Discovered” sequence Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom used. Palworld did the same behavior as I left a cave, almost the same sound/music clip, the font looked the same, the color too. Yeah, very much felt like a copy/paste, what a bizarre thing to copy.

Geek_King,

NINTENDO LEGAL TEAM…ASSEMBLE!!!

Geek_King,

I have a dumb question:

So, the naming convention is confusing here, is this just the next installment of the Remake?

Geek_King,

Ok great! I didn’t finish the first installment on PS4, so I can wait for this new release and play through the first part and second part + DLC all in one game. Sounds good to me!

Geek_King,

I don’t understand why some companies just can’t figure out a consistent naming schedule for sequels. I’m looking at you Capcom and Street Fight Ultra Turbo Alpha Second Strike Tournament Edition with a Cherry On Top

Geek_King,

I’ve gotten a lot of mileage out of co-optimus.com when looking for co-op games to play with friends. It’s really helpful, you can filter games out by platform, number of players, online co-op, local co-op, split screen, dated released. It’s very helpful!

Geek_King,

My favorite example of this is Tribes 1, players found if you tap jump fast while going down a hill, they could “ski” down and gain a lot of momentum. The dev’s hadn’t intended this to be the case, but players loved it, and the dev’s thought it was cool so they left it in. Now skiing is just considered a primary trait of Tribes games.

Geek_King,

I’m shocked that HyTale is still in development, it feels like it’s been a real long time since it was announced.

Geek_King,

I know it’ll be worth the improvements, but I’m allowed to be disappointed all the same. I swear they had a November release, so a week or so ago when I tried to find the release date, I couldn’t find it again, and instead just saw Winter 2023. I was bracing for a delay (still disappointed though).

Geek_King,

May as well try to prevent the tide from coming in by fighting it with your fists.

Geek_King,

Yeah that logic on their part is horseshit, anyone savvy enough to mod a game that isn’t mod friendly knows that if they have instability that’s on them for modding in the first place. All the times I completely hosed my Skyrim install with mods, or my Cities: Skylines install with mods, I never once thought about contacting the game maker for support. So to act like across the board modding will cause a flood of support requests is dishonest.

Geek_King,

Exactly, if you hose your self, uninstall, delete the folder entirely and redownload. It’s a cope out to point to mods as increasing demands for technical support. If handled right modding can breath longevity and extra interest in your games. Shit, some of the most popular games on the market started out as mods originally.

Tone deaf companies will continue missing the point.

Geek_King,

I’m having a lot of fun with it! It’s running better then I thought due to all the negative info I saw on it, but i do have one problem. My city is approach 60k and as far as my city is concerned I have one job and one job alone, endless stretches of low density residential zones. That’s all the demand my city has, endless, just about no other desires, by surface area, my city is 80% residential, low density too, because no other kind will get buildings.

On top of that, what little commercial I have complains of not enough consumers. It feels like a bug at this point.

Geek_King,

Ok good to know! I have a range of education options at every level, but I certainly could give some more options at the top end!

Geek_King,

I just bought the remaster of Ark (Yeah I’m a consumer whore, I know). It looks fantastic, incredible visuals but I’m not sure if the frame rate matches with how good it looks.

Geek_King,

I’m still worried about Hopoo not being at the helm on this one, as I trust Gearbox about as far as I can throw them, and since they’re a whole ass company of people with a building… not very far.

I did love Risk of Rain 1 a shit ton though, so I hope this turns out well!

Geek_King,

Thank you friend, that makes me feel a ton better! Well better about Risk of Rain Returns, still worried about future Risk of Rain 2 though.

Geek_King,

I’m shocked I’ve played as many of my games as I have! I thought it would be a lot lower of a percentage

  • Games owned: 903
  • Games played: 654 (72%)
  • Hours on record: 10,428.8h
Geek_King,

Hah, that’s great! I can’t wait for season 2 of Invincible! I love that they made some of his moves things he did in the show/comic!

Geek_King,

I have the same issue with grading systems. I feel judged, and don’t want to continue until I get a better rating. Generally this ends with me petering out on the game faster than usual.

Geek_King,

Same here, I’ll grind against a level to get a good grade, then feel too daunted to start the next level.

Geek_King,

Epic’s game store is trash, and they fuck cleanly off with trying to fragment the PC gaming market. If they want to compete with Steam, build a better product.

Geek_King,

I agree competition is good, artificial segmentation is removing choice which is anti-consumer. Steam takes 30% but provides many services and features that Epic doesn’t, which is how Epic doesn’t need to charge as much, so many other services they just lack. I think more providers of options are good, as long as they’re not paying devs to lock games into their ecosystem. Valve had the option to lock down their VR headset to only work with Steam games, but didn’t, because they generally make some pretty good decisions in favor of their customers.

I agree though about what happens to steam when the current decision makers step down, it could get really gross really quick.

Geek_King,

I’d be interested in a honest to diety rts set in the age of sigmar! It’s too bad Dawn Of War 3 was trash.

Geek_King,

I don’t agree with Epic trying to artificially segment the PC market with needless timed exclusives. If they want to compete with Steam, make a better product, but don’t remove choice from the consumer. With that being said, I vote with my wallet and time on this one, I won’t install Epic, or give them money.

Geek_King,

I doubt it was, sorry I didn’t intend to imply this title was an exclusive. It’s just the practice of Epic securing timed exclusives is scummy, so I don’t use their store due to that reason, free games or no.

Geek_King,

I love the setting of WH40k, but I don’t like tactical games. I don’t play the table top for this reason, so for GW to have this giant fleshed out universe and just about exclusively make games similar to their top top offers feels like a huge waste. They could be commissioning so many other game types!

Geek_King,

I know of those games, but when you compare the number of turn based tactical games vs how many are different genres, the ratio is pretty crazy.

Geek_King,

Oh yes, I’m very expected about Space Marine 2, especially when I found out it’s co-op for up to 3 players! The problem is, GW has a problem with having shitty games get made, Martyr wasn’t very good, Darktide was received very poorly, buggy, unoptimized. Deathwing, same thing, buggy, glitchy, shallow.

Yes pretty much any other genre of game would be great, The RTS games in the Dawn of War series were great, 1 and 2 were fantastic, 3 was hot trash. First Person Shooters would be nice, 3rd person action games, god even a Telltale Games style story driven narrative game in the setting of you being an Inquisitor chasing a heretic would be wonderful. There are just so many things they could do with the setting! For me the sweet spot is audio books, I love listening to stories sets in the WH40k universe! The Eisenhorn series was fantastic! I also love a ton of various space marine centric stories. But I adore the Necron and had a massive amount of fun with The Infinite and The Divine (Warhammer 40,000), and The Twice Dead King series.

Geek_King,

Was there any word on when PoE2 will be available for us normal every day folk?

Geek_King,

I don’t have any excitement about this game, I know a lot of people are literally buzzing with hype though. Every video I’ve seen makes it look like a less good bland version of Fall Out in space. Holding off to see what reviews say on this.
