That’s great, I hear CD Projekt has some real problems with overworking their employees.

Edit: (right before cyberpunk released)

Employees at CD Projekt Red, the Polish studio behind the game, have reportedly been required to work long hours, including six-day weeks, for more than a year.

Yawnder, w Todd Howard says Starfield was 'made to be played for a long time,' but a month after launch I'm already drifting away

I totally agree. Half the content is mostly irrelevant. The outpost system is useless, the crafting system is unnecessary, the ship building is unnecessary, etc…

7112, w has cyberpunk's combat been rehauled to be me more like the combat rebalanced mod

Still takes like 20 headshots to down someone. It gets a little better mid-late game. It was brutal playing 2.0 before the Headshot damage mod was updated.

However, I noticed that blades seemed a bit buffed. I was able to melee super easy early on.

I think this is largely dependent on build and weapon. I’ve been playing a stealth / throwing character and throwing knives kill almost anyone with a single headshot, as do revolvers. If I try to use an assault rifle, though, I can empty a clip into someone’s face and they’re still standing.

7112,

I had a reflex build but ended up using shotguns since assault damage was so bad. Maybe it’s just the weapon type.

has combat beem rebalanced to be more like the mods now

icydefiance,

I’m not familiar with the mods, but the combat was definitely rebalanced. Enemies scale with your level now, guns themselves were rebalanced, armor is on cyberware instead of clothing, and the new perk trees are more consistently useful instead of some perks being worthless and others being game breaking.

enemies scale? to whag degree? also heres what one mjnute of modded rebalanced combat looks like but yiu should look into more vids to undersyand all the differences m.youtube.com/watch?v=1qoHZxn664I

icydefiance,

Damage, hp, and drop rarity. It means you can go anywhere in the city at any level (after act 1) and both the challenge and rewards will feel good. It’s also nice because you can grab the iconics you want for your build right away instead of playing half of the game without them.

You still gradually get more powerful as you get more perks. It’s just not as simple as out levelling the enemies anymore.

also heres what one mjnute of modded rebalanced combat looks like

TTK is still pretty high compared to that video, unless you invest heavily in the Cool tree and focus on headshots.

tdawg,

Personally I hate scaling in games. It makes leveling up feel pointless or even punishing. Nothing feels better than returning to the intro area as a god and nuking the npcs from orbit

icydefiance,

You know, normally I would agree with you, but this one feels different to me. I think it’s because there’s no endgame, so if I out-level all the enemies then there’s nothing left to play for.

Drbreen,

Doing that in Starfield right now lol Hey you level 1 syndicate, ffffffuck off! Bam

Zozano,

And Very Hard is still a cake walk :(

They supposedly increased the combat AI, I suppose that only matter to Gear of War style players

fosforus,

Do they scale? I seemed to have lots of difficulty in levels 1-10, and now my 50+ character obliterates every regular encounter with its pinky finger with no need to take any cover from incoming fire, and even the named enemies are not really a challenge.

I think that’s good though, scaling is a dumb mechanic in a game like this.

Where is Dr. Weir?

AstralPath, w Why CCP haven't stopped trying to make an EVE Online shooter for 15 years

EVE is sick, CCP is awesome and Dust 514 was pretty cool. Based on CCP’s comments about Dust it seems like they really understand why it failed which is great. If they can create something on a slightly smaller scale with some really good mechanics I think it would be a hit. I was kinda hoping they’d go for something like CS/Valorant as I could see that meshing well with shipboard combat settings. Sounds like that’s not the case but I’m sure this will be great.

Imagine that though… Small maps set inside capital ships as the setting and named as such. Fast paced combat à la Valorant… Would be cool.

hihellobyeoh,

The only and I mean ONLY problem I had with 514 ( I was in one of the testing phases pre release) was that it was a console exclusive, I can’t stand playing shooters on a controller anymore.

Tunawithshoes, w Todd Howard says Starfield was 'made to be played for a long time,' but a month after launch I'm already drifting away

While I enjoyed my time I really struggling to find what I feel like I would different on a new playthrough making me worried about longevity of this game.

It really feels like unless bethesda (unlikely) or moders could do something drastic I would not return. Just pick the game back up and do the new thing.

Feels not enough to do by only stick to space. Not enough ammo to not use a variety of weapon. Nor that much other ways to deal with combat that it would warrant a new play through.

Grumpy,

I only played like 15hrs of vanilla Skyrim. But played like 1000+ hrs of modded Skyrim. I’ve now played about 30hrs of starfield. If the modding scene gets as big as Skyrim, I think it would have merit in longevity.

wildginger,

So, what, bethesda games are now just fancy Little Big Planet sandboxes? Where the main game is just something to keep you busy until the real content creators arive?

Tunawithshoes,

Honestly feels like that.

They given many things in the base game fells like that they where more showcase.

Here is background it exists we barely doing anything with it but maybe you find it useful.

Here is new game plus it erases the whole world so if you want to reset world.

Here is enormous skybox. We have no reason why you can fly across the star system but tons of space for you.

Tunawithshoes,

Oh definitely the modding is going to carry. But what point I tried to make is I will need something big for me to consider a new playthrough. Not just adding in bunch of mods to existed save file.

Unlike Skyrim where I felt start over for mods I could actually feel like I had choice and it kinda made a difference in play style to be a mage or a knight.

Pregnenolone, w Cyberpunk's storytelling makes Starfield seem ancient

Neither Cyberpunk nor Starfield are rushing to win any awards for their writing. I’m playing the expansion for Cyberpunk at the moment and it’s average at best.

Anything Rockstar and Sony related I’d assume would be shitty for Xbox people. The bonuses that PlayStation players could get for GTA Online was ridiculous, so this is nothing new unfortunately.

I’m looking forward to the first big update, and the update that officially supports modding, although that is supposed to be next year.

Kolgeirr, w Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Getting offline mode

Well cool, about time. If they put offline mode in it’ll finally make sense to put it on my Steam deck. Been wanting to play it portable since I got the deck but always use it away from home and setting up a hotspot connection to play an ARPG solo isn’t great.
