I really enjoyed my time with the first one and I keep meaning to pick this one up.

Klanky,

I really hope this marks the end of the internet’s weird love fest with this company and CEO. They don’t care about you in the slightest.

Klanky,
@Klanky@sopuli.xyz avatar

That may be true. Still a company, still doesn’t care about anyone besides as a consumer. I don’t get the weird parasocial relationships people develop with any company/corporation.

Klanky,

Ah if only. I think Sports Story broke those devs ☹️

Day 433 of posting a Daily Screenshot from the games I've been playing

Today’s game is some Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition. I haven’t been in my world for a while so i decided to hop in and relax. I’ve noticed i don’t really have a drive to beat the Ender Dragon, so i think that’s really dampened a bit of my attention too it. I still enjoy sinking some time into it though....

Klanky,
@Klanky@sopuli.xyz avatar

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, really cool to hear. We just started a Realm for our 8 yr old and his friends and I hope he has fond memories when he gets older.

Reset, a puzzle sci-fi game some little Finnish studio was working on.

Ubisoft says you "cannot complain" it shut down The Crew because you never actually owned it, and you weren't "deceived" by the lack of an offline version (www.gamesradar.com)

Full title: Ubisoft says you “cannot complain” it shut down The Crew because you never actually owned it, and you weren’t “deceived” by the lack of an offline version “to access a decade-old, discontinued video game”...

It may be legal, but it certainly ain’t ethical.

Stargazing Saturdays 2025-03-15

I know we did Fridays last time. The weather was bad, so I kinda forgot about it. The transparency tonight is looking suboptimal, and, given my options, I might just settle for hitting some binary stars. My best view is of the eastern sky, and most everything there right now is faint fuzzies, so I don’t have especially high...

Man I need to get my scope out again. It’s been years. Maybe one of these days…

Klanky,
@Klanky@sopuli.xyz avatar

The original creators are working on a sequel! ‘Children of Infinity’

Klanky,
@Klanky@sopuli.xyz avatar

I am super intrigued by this, might pick it up next time it goes on a big sale.

Anyone try playing it on the Deck?

Klanky,
@Klanky@sopuli.xyz avatar

They came through and sent me the game like they said!

Klanky,
@Klanky@sopuli.xyz avatar

That looks incredible! The second one was good but I think I still like the first one better. I would love to dive back in.

Anyone else bounce around from game to game with no clue what to play?

Used to spend most of my days playing live service games that required a huge amount of time, or big AAA titles that are critically acclaimed. For example, Fallout 4/76, Battlefield 2042, rainbow six, World of Warcraft, RuneScape, Skyrim, Destiny 2, OverWatch… Basically any really big game that you would find on the top 20 of...

Thanks for that thread. I’ve never heard of a Bird-Jones design before so it was super interesting.

I feel like DLC is just a re-branding of ‘expansion packs’ that we used to have in the 90s.

Klanky,
@Klanky@sopuli.xyz avatar

I agree completely, I was just trying to say I think that was the beginning of it. I never touch cosmetic DLC but I at least consider DLC that adds story or more content. I play Paradox games after all. :-)

Klanky,
@Klanky@sopuli.xyz avatar

Yeah I play FH5 and have not touched the DLC. I feel like there is more than enough cars and content in the base game that I will probably never get to as is. It’s just a chill game for me, drive around the beautiful scenery, relax, and do a race here or there.

I think Sims is a dead franchise now

After being incredibly disappointed by the release of Sims 4, I was someone holding out hope for Sims 5 that they would have realized, “Hey, people really didn’t want us to do anything multiplayer in Sims 4. Maybe that means we should go back and make an actual good Sims game?” But instead, we get this awful news that Sims...

Klanky,
@Klanky@sopuli.xyz avatar

That’s how I’ve felt about The Sims since the first one. It was so boring making my Sim go to work, come home, eat, go to bed, shower, etc. I bounced off it hard and never went back. If someone likes it, good for them, but I’ve never gotten it.

Klanky,
@Klanky@sopuli.xyz avatar

I’m 40 and I’d rather play a video game than watch a movie.

Klanky, (edited )
@Klanky@sopuli.xyz avatar

I am just now learning from your comment that Annapurna does film! I just know them from Kentucky Route Zero and Outer Wilds. Crazy, I thought they were just a gaming company.

Klanky,
@Klanky@sopuli.xyz avatar

Thanks, edited.

Klanky,
@Klanky@sopuli.xyz avatar

This was a wonderful little experience.

Klanky,
@Klanky@sopuli.xyz avatar

I don’t get why anyone pays attention to these wannabe Hollywood producers like him or Todd Howard. The most interesting and innovative things in gaming are NOT happening in the AAA space.

Klanky,
@Klanky@sopuli.xyz avatar

I played this game and loved it but never finished it. I feel like I was either too dumb to figure out what to do next, or I could tell what I needed to do but couldn’t maneuver my ship/character well enough. Total skill issue on my part, though I intend to dive back in at some point.

Klanky,
@Klanky@sopuli.xyz avatar

I know, like I said I was too dumb to figure out exactly what to do when I got there :-). I definitely plan on diving back in, though.

Klanky,
@Klanky@sopuli.xyz avatar

Ooh Night in the Woods was good.

Gregg rulz ok

Star Control 2: The Ur-Quan Masters has some great tunes.

Edit: and The Talos Principle

Klanky,
@Klanky@sopuli.xyz avatar

So I played it for a while several years ago and kinda got bored with it. I got to the bottom of the mine and had married one of the characters, and my farm (such as it was) was mostly automated so not much to do there. I know there are a bunch of story moments but I got tired of wandering around randomly trying to meet the conditions to trigger them. I wanted it to happen organically without looking it up. I just felt like I ran out of things to do and there was no point to keep playing.

At the same time, I want to play it on my Steam Deck because I did enjoy what I did play!

Klanky,
@Klanky@sopuli.xyz avatar

Islets. First Metroidvania I’ve ever tried and I love it.

Klanky,
@Klanky@sopuli.xyz avatar

I came to a realization a few years ago that I am too boring to play sandbox games. I need a tightly crafted narrative, I cannot be left to my own devices. After a long time of trying to get into every sandbox game that looked cool, it was such a relief to finally realize that about myself.

Klanky,
@Klanky@sopuli.xyz avatar

I think Rocket League is cross-platform.

Klanky,
@Klanky@sopuli.xyz avatar

All I can think of is Strong Bad’s vector graphic head appearing and saying stuff like ‘your head a-splode’ in that voice you describe. :-)

Klanky,
@Klanky@sopuli.xyz avatar

I keep meaning to pick this one up! I’ve got so many games on my wishlist and so little money lol.

Seeking: Kid-friendly Adventure/Exploration Games (PC)

My daughter (4) is very into exploring cities, homes and villages in Skyrim, feeding aliens in No Man’s Sky, and cleaning houses in House Flipper. She gets annoyed in games like House Flipper because she can’t leave the property to explore all of the visible houses on the block. I’d like to find other PC games that are...

Klanky,
@Klanky@sopuli.xyz avatar

Slime Rancher might be worth looking into.

Klanky,
@Klanky@sopuli.xyz avatar

I’ve never understood the term Metroidvania, and at this point, I’m afraid to ask.

Klanky,
@Klanky@sopuli.xyz avatar

Your example about BoTW is really good. I never played the earlier Zelda games and had near-zero interest in them. Then a friend let me borrow their BoTW cart and I absolutely fell in love with it. Still no interest in playing the earlier ones though.

Klanky,

Bouncing between Obduction and Eidolon.

Klanky,
@Klanky@sopuli.xyz avatar

A Steam Deck helps! I can lay in bed after the kid is asleep and knock out a half hour/hour session before sleep. Let’s not talk about the advisability of using devices in bed…

Klanky,
@Klanky@sopuli.xyz avatar

Yeah and it’s almost impossible to find any info about it because of some stupid Warframe thing that uses ‘Eidolon’ in the title. Get out of here with that AAA microtransaction crap game. :-)
