Mobile game looking ass

Mirshe,

Yeah, I’d accept this if it were a DS game. Not on major consoles in 2023.

They’re advertising that this has support for 120fps, ultrawide resolutions, and RTX. I am feeling cautiously optimistic that From Software actually nailed the PC support this time.

Now if only they could backport those features to Elden Ring!

TesterJ,

Early word from reviewers and people that participated in some of the early access events is that the game is crazy well optimized. I think it was Fighting Cowboy who said all of his gameplay on PC was at 4k 120fps. He also said it runs at around 50fps with high settings on the Steamdeck.

simple,

Now if only they could backport those features to Elden Ring!

I wish… Elden ring actually has support for these features but you can’t enable them while playing online because it tampers with files. There are mods for enabling widescreen and unlocked FPS that have been around for ages and work perfectly.

Always upvote HL2. My favorite game of all time.

This could totally get me to finally get going and build a new gaming rig.

I wish the team luck. I’m sure it’s not am easy task, looking at other, similar projects like Black Mesa, but the demo is stunning. Would love to see what Ravenholm looks like…

Wish they’d do Hal-Life 1 with ray tracing because my video card might actually be able to run that one.

simple,

There is Black Mesa if you’re looking for a Half Life 1 remake. Not sure if there is raytracing in it though.

If it did have it, it’d almost certainly be too much for my RTX 3060. Portal RTX didn’t work too well.

NeroRecursive,
@NeroRecursive@jlai.lu avatar

Don’t worry, even with a beefy config it doesn’t run very well (talking i9 10th gen, 32gb ddr4 and 3080RTX) so I doubt even half life 2 will run decently.

JokeDeity,

Ha. What? My 2060 has zero issues with this, what are you talking about?

pfannkuchen_gesicht,

In another comment you mentioned not having tried Portal RTX yet.

JokeDeity,

I had zero issues with BM.

pfannkuchen_gesicht,

Ok? It doesn’t have RTX though, so of course it’s gonna run fine. It’s source engine after all.
They were saying it would run badly if BM had RTX like Portal RTX, because Portal RTX is already very demanding.

JokeDeity,

Black Mesa was so fucking good it’s ridiculous.

Wahots,

It’s not RTX but that was a fucking 10/10 experience. Xen knocked my socks off.

Quake 2 RTX can bring my 3090 to its knees. You could do HL2 but I bet it’d be about similar to Portal 2.

JokeDeity,

What? Am I missing something? Several comments here about 3000 series not being able to handle what was easy for my 2060 to handle.

NewNewAccount,

Probably at different resolutions. My 3080 has to drop to 25% minimum resolution and/or sub 60 fps when using the dynamic resolution option.

That’s 25% resolution from 4k, which I’m not sure is 1080p or 540p because it certainly looks blurrier than 1080p at lowest res.

Hasuris,

Portal RTX was “easy” for your 2060? I remember having to set DLSS to ultra performance at 1080p to get it above 30fps on a 2060s.

That’s 640x360 internal render resolution. Around 1/10 pixels of 1080p

JokeDeity,

Portal is one I haven’t tried, but my working assumption until now was that I would have no issues.

Jmr,

I believe its because the RTX remix games are path traced which is alot harder to do

NewNewAccount, (edited )

Quake 2 doesn’t use RTX Remix. Or at least wasn’t advertised as that being the underlying tech.

Edit: I think I misunderstood what you were saying. Performance with Portal RTX Remix was significantly worse than with Quake 2 RTX.

deranger,

Q2RTX is fully path traced, it was the path tracing tech demo before Portal RTX was.

Hasuris,

The cool thing about pathtracing is it doesn’t really matter how complex a scene is. The bad thing about pathtracing is it doesn’t really matter how complex a scene is.

If your card can’t run remixed HL2, it also won’t be able to do HL1

I haven’t seen this youtuber’s videos before. Do they normally drop 40 minutes of spoilers for a game that came out just 6 months ago? I thought this was going to be a review and it turned into a walkthrough less than 10 minutes in.

Fugit,

Yes, pretty much all of his videos sit somewhere between review, narrative let’s play and walkthrough. Add to that some eastern-European/Russian culture inserts as well as an obsession for slavjank, and you have Warlockracy in a nutshell.

SnotFlickerman, (edited )

Sometimes its over an hour of spoilers.

Most of the time though he seems to be reviewing stuff like Fallout 2 restoration of previously cut content.

I mean I understand why it’s more of an issue with a game that just came out but a game that came out in 1998 I think is fair game for spoiling.

SillySpy, do games w Endless Legend 2 - Early Access Launch Trailer

I loved the lore of the original and the asymmetric play-styles were really unique, but I think I’ve just outgrown my 4X phase. Still hope the game does well

givesomefucks,

I wanted to love the original and sunk a lot of hours into it…

But it just never really scratched tgat HoMM itch like I wanted.

All the “endless” games seem super interesting and I love the never ending lore. It just feels like something is missing from all their games.

The new HoMM still just has “2025” as a release date, no idea when it’s actually releasing

NuXCOM_90Percent, (edited ) do games w Gamers Nexus's 3-hour GPU smuggling documentary is finally back up after being fraudulently DMCA'd by Bloomberg. Go give them a watch to make up for some of the lost traction!

Really fun watch. I probably am more aware of this than most so most of the contextual information was “common sense” or “open secrets”, but never really saw anyone put it that clearly or blatantly before. And the technical segments (building a frankenboard) were awesome.

Although one thing me and a few buddies keep wondering but are too afraid to ask legal about: Did Steve actually film himself committing a crime when he bought the card? Like, he as a US citizen is a party that can buy one of those and as long as he didn’t give it to anyone else, it is no different than buying and shipping a card from a less than reputable source. But it also raises every single export control flag in my head.

frezik,

I doubt it. Bringing it into the country would be illegal, but even if he brought it home, bringing it out isn’t illegal.

They already have comments disabled. Something tells me this will be AI slop, and that the game will be stupidly rushed. For it being an F2P game as well, the macrotransactions are going to be stupid, and knowing how Quad A works from a casual perspective, I likely suspect that it will become P2W.

Edit: I stand corrected. Since I use Invidious, the comments don’t seem to be working right now.
