What game do you recommend someone who likes the mechanics but not the setting of Baldur's Gate 3? angielski

I saw people going on about how great BG3 is on this site, so I thought I’d check out a let’s play to see what all the fuss was about. I immediately fell in love with the graphics and the mechanics, such as the classes, races, spells, dice etc, but I disliked the emphasis on gore/horror in the game, and I know I wouldn’t...

rambaroo,

How does mass effect have even remotely similar mechanics to bg3? The dialogue is it

rambaroo,

… But it is FF7. It’s not a new game.

If you really didn’t want to play FF7 again you’d play literally any other game

rambaroo,

If you’re willing to put some effort you can get the original on PC and mod it. It looks much better with mods. The mods are pretty easy to install and it won’t cost you $180 over however many years to get the full story

rambaroo,

I’d prefer a bloodborne remaster over ER DLC

rambaroo,

For real, Steam literally took off because they made HL2 exclusive to it. It doesn’t matter that it’s a first party game, the effect and intent was identical. They could’ve made it generally available but chose not to. They forced people to use their proprietary product to install a game.

It’s crazy how many people shill for valve on Reddit and lemmy when they’ve already done most of the shit Epic gets accused of.

rambaroo,

If Howard is involved your can bet the show will be boring and cheesy as fuck.

I’m honestly shocked so many of you are giving this show a chance after the disaster of Fallout 76, Starfield’s mediocrity + the weird ass review controversy. It’s incredible how much loyalty a corp can command

rambaroo,

Why do people want everything to be co-op

rambaroo,

Wtf is this? The game was already patched and enhanced for PS5.

rambaroo,

The playerbase already dipped below Skyrim on steam. I really doubt that this game will have the usual Bethesda longevity.

rambaroo,

Too many devs think they’re above unionizing. It’s going to be very difficult to pull off. They won’t be interested until it’s too late.

Bottom line is that tech is chock full of greedy fucking people who only care about what they’re getting paid this year.

I don’t think the gaming industry could lead on this issue though. It’s tech companies like FAANG that really lead the market and that’s where people refuse to organize.

rambaroo, (edited )

VR is a niche product that hasn’t and won’t solve this problem.

rambaroo,

Lol, I have better things to do with my time than training to play shovelware video games.

rambaroo,

The fact that there are tons of games only available on steam should tell you it’s a monopoly.

It’s fucking shocking to me that so many people here actually believe that Valve isn’t a monopoly. You must have your head way up your ass.

rambaroo,

That doesn’t mean anything. Jesus Christ these arguments that valve isn’t a monopoly are just so incredibly weak. They’ve created a fucking cult.

rambaroo,

So what? That’s also the only reason valve supports Linux.

rambaroo,

It’s a perfect example of them abusing their position in the market. But since you’re a valve cultist, you make up a bunch of weak excuses for it. If epic or ms did the same thing you’d blow a gasket.

rambaroo,

Why would developers care about steams “features”? That’s Valve’s problem, not theirs. 30% is fucking highway robbery for a distributor. The only reason they get away with it is because they’re a monopoly and devs have no choice but to publish games there. It’s crazy that you can’t see that.

rambaroo,

Then why are must of the comments arguing against it?

rambaroo,

Lol. You think 99% of people give a shit about forums or Linux support?

rambaroo,

Yeah because if you don’t, they delist your game. That’s the literal definition of anti-competitiveness. They could never get away with that if they weren’t a monopoly.

rambaroo,

Because consumers are lazy and don’t care about ownership.

rambaroo,

Gotta love the Bethesda fanboys upvoting this one cherry picked comment. They’re are like 70 comments in there with all different combos of system specs complaining about performance.

rambaroo, (edited )

Playing on ultra on a 3060 ? So you’re getting 20-30 fps? Because that’s what it gets on mine with a much newer CPU. I had to turn it down to med-high to average 45 fps

rambaroo, (edited )

Keeping track of variables doesn’t use CPU time? Ok man. I’m all for hating on Bethesda’s shitty engine but that’s just not true. At the very least it does track what NPCs are doing off screen which is how they end up at your ship when you tell them to go there. They will actually walk to your ship if you don’t get there first.

On the other hand it’s basically guaranteed that Bethesda spent zero effort optimizing that. I bet it’s the same code they ran for Skyrim.

rambaroo, (edited )

But that’s their biggest problem. There’s no reason for them to have a small unchanging team. It’s very very obvious that they never get an influx of new ideas. Starfield feels like it was made in 2016 and the optimization effort is comically bad. The writing is still mostly boring, campy and naive like it was written by a 15 year old Mormon. The facial animations are incrementally better than fallout but still noticeably worse than much older games like Witcher 3. I could go on.

It’s not a bad game at all but it could’ve been so much better if Bethesda execs weren’t greedy cheapasses and the dev team was open to changing their process.

This why Bethesda needs to be criticized instead of constantly getting fellated by fanboys. ES6 will be an outdated mess because Bethesda never sees any feedback except over the top praise for half-assing their games.

rambaroo,

If Bethesda can’t take the time to do it then who can? People act like they’re some small time developer but they’re not. They simply refuse to expand their dev team to do things like a redesign.

Creation engine is not going to hold up well for another 6 years, there’s no way their cell loading system will be considered acceptable by the time ES6 comes out. The amount of loading screens in Starfield is insane for a modern game. This company needs new talent badly.

rambaroo,

AMD users are having a better time with it, unsurprisingly. I wish I hadn’t gone for Nvidia but too late for that.

rambaroo, (edited )

Please explain in detail how Starfield is pushing the edge graphically in any way that’s comparable to Crysis.

Also please explain how you expect them to improve as a developer when you refuse to criticize them.

rambaroo, (edited )

Seriously? Just say that we’re always trying to optimize our games and we’ll continue working on it. It’s such an easy question to tackle. I refuse to believe you can’t see that. People just think Bethesda is above criticism for some inane reason.

rambaroo,

To be fair that’s a lot more money than a console.

rambaroo, (edited )

Hopefully. I’ve always been more of an AMD/ATI fan, but for this laptop the deal worked out to be better with an Nvidia card. But next time I’m not settling for it. AMD CPU and GPU is the way to go. Especially because I’m trying to daily on Linux now and the driver side is much much nicer with AMD.

rambaroo,

What’s the point of this comment? People are allowed to complain and criticize Bethesda for the things they seemingly refuse to improve on.

rambaroo,

No one’s asking for a “graphical showcase”. I’m sick of people defending Bethesda by saying that’s just what they do. Literally the only company I see people trot this line out for.

rambaroo,

Lol “objective reality” as if nothing ever changes.

rambaroo, (edited )

This happens with every Bethesda release because they overhype their games and keep their PR vague enough that people can fill in the gaps any way they want to. They’ve been doing this since Morrowind. This review/user response controversy is nothing new and neither are the usual criticisms of Bethesda games half-assing everything from accessibility to writing to various gameplay elements.

And then instead of holding Bethesda accountable for their nonsense the fanboys like you go out and attack and blame other fans for it. Getting really sick of Bethesda fans shitting on anyone with criticism of their precious game company while whining about how toxic gaming culture is with zero self-awareness.

If you’re ok with Bethesda never innovating that’s fine, but stop trying yti shut down other people’s valid criticisms or acting like they’re stupid for expecting and wanting higher quality releases.

rambaroo,

No, MS wanted to compete with PlayStation Plus. Linux constitutes about 2% of users on steam. MS doesn’t care about Linux gaming and steam OS is no where choose to being a threat to them.

rambaroo,

At least wait for reviews to come out, some are due tomorrow

rambaroo,

Sure as hell won’t be preloading a Bethesda game on PC. Based on the system requirements I expect performance to be ass for a while after release.

rambaroo,

1 TB was standard when I was shopping for gaming laptops last year. Frankly it’s more than enough for most people and in line with the consoles.

rambaroo,

The preloaded data could be compressed or it might not include the day 1 patch.

rambaroo,

Not really considering the vast majority of people don’t use micro transactions. These companies make money by farming whales who have mental health/addiction issues.
