Braid is the closest I’ve seen videogames come to literature. The best literature is always about something else - not the plot, but deeper themes. And Braid feels like that, to me. Everything in that game, from the story, to the specific mechanics all tie into the greater theme.
Yes, I don’t remember if it was said during one of those showcase videos or if Rebel himself answered it during one of his streams but Daedric realms will be reworked to make them more interesting and fun to do.
Edit: It was actually mentioned during the Road to Release video, I’ve timestamped the relevant part.
Bit of a bummer but still great tbh, let’s hope it becomes some sort of industry standard. Not hoping too hard tho, lately the games released are not even finished, I doubt they’ll find the time to implement FSR on top of that
FSR is a regular upscaling shader that only looks at nearby pixels. FSR 2.0 uses motion vectors and temporal reconstruction, it can’t be forced by the compositor into all games like FSR 1.0 could.
No, you’re probably thinking of AMD’s Fluid Motion Frames, which is similar to what HDTVs do for motion smoothing and works at the driver level. FSR 3 requires game support.
The only thing we have is that they claim it’s “feature complete” which could mean anything based on how they use language in regards to their progress.
For all we know they mean all of the mechanics are done but the campaign and most missions still need created. It could still be years away from release.
SC has been almost 7 years overdue even based on the most distant projections for launch and it keeps just puttering down the road for as long as people keep buying ships I guess. The poster child of what companies will do when people keep giving them money for the pleasure.
They’ve turned game development into a live service business model instead of just making a product and selling it.
Which headset did you end up buying? Was 7th Guest the first VR game you played? How did you like it? Sry I’m curious, kept thinking about you every time I saw something about 7th Guest ^^
I‘d watch the video but I don’t want to get spoilers before playing it myself.
I got a Quest 3, pre-ordered just for this game lol. Not my first VR game, I’ve played some on my sister’s Oculus Rift, and played a couple things in the week I had my headset before this game came out. I think the headset is great, really cool to be able to wirelessly link to the PC or play standalone, and the passthrough mode is cool too. And the cameras can auto create your boundaries too which is very convenient compared to my sister’s Oculus Rift.
T7GVR was awesome, you could tell the devs were real fans of the original game.
The puzzles aren’t as difficult as T7G or T11H, but there are a larger number of puzzles to compensate, and the puzzles still force you to think. People hated how difficult T11H was in 1995 lol so that would be even worse today, there’s no way any puzzle game could be that difficult today and expect to sell more than 5 copies lol.
And the soundtrack is full of beautiful remixes of the original songs. The volumetric videos are really cool and the graphics and art are great. The acting is good too, not as over the top as the original, but no one would’ve taken that seriously in this day and age lol.
Totally understandable about spoilers. I hope you enjoy the game!
We have a Discord community which is much more active than this. We’re very careful about spoilers there with separate channels for spoilers and even still using spoiler tags. We’ve also got a couple of the devs in there. discord.gg/Hss5cJg
Multiple fans of the OG in our community are gushing over this game, haven’t heard anyone who doesn’t like it.
