Oh, I’m looking forward to finally getting to play the DLC! I have the game on PS4, not never bothered to get a 5 because I switched to PC gaming before they were easily available where I live, and now I don’t want one any more.

I’ll wait until it goes on sale, though, since I already paid full price once.

WAT that’s a lot sooner than I was expecting!

Aiming with kbm let’s gooo.

I play these games with DualSense even on PC.

Got rid of my Xbox and PS5 as I was sick of having to pay out for subs (PSN/XBL) so I'll gladly take any of the PS5 games that Sony offer on PC, even if we have to wait a while.

Good to see the Sony exclusives still coming.

kadu,
@kadu@lemmy.world avatar

There’s no way Sony is giving up on PC ports now.

They invest into developing a game and get all the sales within their own game store, plus the exclusivity boosts the sales of the console itself and next titles in the franchise. Then, after all this effort and cost is long gone, they get to invest minimal effort to sell and hype the same game all over again to another audience and, again, try to hook these players into the franchise perhaps even selling a console to them. There are no downsides, only extra money.

6 October 2023 for PS5

Hopefully all the content is on the disc!

simple, do games w Skill Up: I was not ready for how impressive Alan Wake II is (Hands-On Impressions)

Very excited for this one. Alan Wake 1 wasn’t a masterpiece or anything but I’m very interested to see how they do with a much bigger budget and more experience making games.

MurrayL,

More experience? Remedy have been making games since the 90s

simple,

I feel like Control is where they really hit their stride though.

BlinkerFluid,
@BlinkerFluid@lemmy.one avatar

I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole game has a clear, crisp gameplay, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the style a big boost. It’s been compared to Valve, but I think Riot has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humor.

Won’t care until it’s announced that I can play it on the PC. They released Zero Dawn like…a year after it’s exclusive launch on PS4 I think?

I’m still chomping at the bit for it to release on PC. If I bought a PS5, it would basically be a H:FW player, and I can’t justify buying a console for a single game. The PS5 just doesn’t have enough good titles on it.

criticalinvite,

It is! (2024) I’m guessing done silently alongside this trailer.

thantik,

I just noticed that. At the very end of the clip they mention wishlisting it now, so I wishlisted it. They say “early” 2024 - and it’s one of the few games I already know I love (H:ZD was so good, I watched a 12 hour playthrough with my wife over the course of a couple of days, and she said it was as good as watching a movie)…

Back to the origin hm?.. Well, finger crossed on this one. I’m tired of cyber-magic bulls**t. I just want to enjoy historically accurated city with some nice stealth combat.

Okay now make a real game in Source 2

e:wow lmao css players seething

Entropy,

Just because you don’t like competitive shooters doesn’t make CS2 not a “real game”.

Honestly I’m just happy Valve is making games again.

stephenc,

CS is only good if you’re a cheater or a troll because it’s all “shoot at a random moving blob that you can’t even tell if it’s an enemy because CS decided that giving easily identifiable at a glance (like, you know, different colors or some shit, what a concept) characteristics to different teams is NO REALISM HURR and they want their wannabe war shooter kerfuffle to be gritty grimdark real” trash. CS has never been good.

Entropy,

Literal clown take. Mad cuz bad.

Koffiato,

Go play Half Life Alyx, a “real” game on Source 2.

vanontom,
@vanontom@lemmy.world avatar

Is it playable without VR hardware yet (officially)? Would love to play it, but… VR still seems like expensive gimmick to me.

Zoidsberg,
@Zoidsberg@lemmy.ca avatar

Please provide a list of Real Game requirements. I’m sure Valve would be very interested.

Abnorc,
  1. I have to like it.

I'm sorry, a mainline entry to one of the most important multiplayer games in gaming history isn't a 'real game'?

Nioxic,

Is cs2 a fake game?

AstralPath, do games w Counter-Strike 2 - Launch Trailer

Stoked. I like the new improvements. I’m happy to see this game moving forward like this. Been playing for over 20 years and I couldn’t be happier. After a few patches to tidy up loose ends, this game will leave CS:GO in the dust.

squirrelwithnut, do games w Counter-Strike 2 - Launch Trailer

Not going to lie, I haven’t played a competitive shooter in years, but I used to play the shit out of CS back in the day. I kind of want to jump into this again.

heyfluxay,
@heyfluxay@artemis.camp avatar

Now’s the time!

Vox_Ursus,

1.6 was the shit on every single LAN party when I went to primary school. Good times.

Spasmolytic,

Indeed. I was pretty decent back in 1.3 days playing on a friend’s server who had a frickin T1 line at home. It was just as competitive play was starting to develop and there was no voice chat until Roger Wilco came about. That’s partly why I’m not a WASD guy. Gotta keep the fingers on the home row ready to type “I had sex with your mom.” not just say it.

Ah, memories.

Played some CS2 last night and it was death match rounds on Dust 2. Unbelievable how fast I die. I just can’t even…

However, the game did feel really well polished. Very snappy except for a few lag spikes. I started to limber up and even earned a positive K:D in one round. Well, for most of the round. I fell to - 3 in the last moments, but overall it was pretty fun. Don’t think I could hang in a regular match though. Too much time sitting around dead.

Coolcoder360,

Well, the reason dying in death match is faster in CS2 is because now it’s FFA, pretty sure in csgo it was team death match.

So now everyone is out to get you, not just the other team.

Spasmolytic,

I get that, especially when the map is fairly small, but I’m talking about the insane twitch reflexes and aim of these players. I feel like 90% of the time it’s just thp-thp! and I’m dead, from practically any distance, whereas I’m firing bursts and need a second or three to actually kill someone.

Plus AWPers are unreal. The crosshairs in the scope blur if you move at all, so I can’t fathom how these folks are so accurate, but there you have it.

I’m not calling anyone a cheater, just saying the average skill level is far beyond me. I still had fun. Gotta remember, it’s easy, just click on their heads.

azertyfun,

These games are inherently competitive with an unbelievably steep learning curve, so people git gud, which drives off casual players, repeat ad nauseam. The only people who regularly play CS are either absolute masochists, or very good at clicking heads even if by that game’s standard they’re only silver or gold or whatever.

To be halfway decent at CS means that no singleplayer shooter will ever be a challenge to you again, because there’s no intersection between casual gaming and competitive shooters.

Spasmolytic,

Don’t they have a mechanism for filtering you into games with people who have similar stats so there’s a bit of balance? Play a while and get wrecked until you fall down to your own level?

Darorad,

If you play ranked, which a lot of the people who get impacted by this don’t

still just competitive point and click right

e-ratic,
@e-ratic@kbin.social avatar

as opposed to competitive button presses?

NewNewAccount,

By that logic, doesn’t point and click describe every PC game?

@all-knight-party@kbin.run avatar

Painting so easy, you just draw lines on some tarp

Gamey,

Film making is even simpler, just start the camera, wait a while and stop it again!

Abnorc,

Well it is a FPS game. There is going to be pointing and clicking as a central mechanic.

I wish we’d get another Left 4 Dead, and while I don’t feel like TF2 really needs a new game, it could probably do with a fresh coat of paint (like PBR materials).

bitteorca,
@bitteorca@artemis.camp avatar

Day of Defeat is beneath the pool

MyDearWatson616,

DoD was the first FPS I ever played that had mouse aiming. That sounded dumb to me so I just camped in crowded areas with a machine gun and waited for people to run into my crosshairs.

maniacalmanicmania,
@maniacalmanicmania@aussie.zone avatar

I cannot aim and also have a crap mouse (don’t really want to spend money on anything gaming related) so I alternate between MG and nade runs. Small maps are great for nading all night long.

ivanafterall,

I spent more time on this one than any of the others.

wookiestackhouse,

If there’s one good thing that Back 4 Blood did, it’s remind me how good Left 4 Dead was, so I went and played that instead.

all-knight-party,
@all-knight-party@kbin.run avatar

Goddamn, for real. Left 4 Dead 2 is one of my favorite games of all time, maybe even my favorite. Everything that's there adds to the experience and is finely tuned and crafted. It just plays so well that it's the only game that Ive played for over 200 hours and still go back to that has no meta progression whatsoever, aside from achievements I don't even chase.

llii,

that has no meta progression whatsoever

That’s one of the reasons I liked it. Everyone has the same experience, there’s no FOMO. It’s just so pure.

chiliedogg,

I was among the millions to cry foul that LFD2 came out so soon after the first game. It seemed like it was just gonna be a $60 map pack.

But goddamn they brought their A game and really did improve everything about the original.

big_slap,

playing cs2 makes me REALLY want a left 4 dead 3 with this engine 😞

ummthatguy,
@ummthatguy@lemmy.world avatar

Remember Valve’s cardinal rule: We can’t count to 3.

Xyloph,

I like how Half Life is entirely missing 🤣

MossyFeathers,
@MossyFeathers@pawb.social avatar

I mean, half-life recently got a new game. It wasn’t Half-Life 3/HL2:EP3, but it was more recent than L4D and TF2; which tend to be forgotten about until people start complaining.

Duamerthrax,

When you gate it behind VR, most people aren’t going to play it. It’s also a prequel and wont address the cliff hanger ending.
