phoenixz, do games w GTA 6 will have a 'significant online mode' to generate revenue for years into the future

So sad that Rockstar now too is “one of those”, but that is what always happens when small companies making great products grown into large corporations. Gta6 will be shit, it will ring in the end for Rockstar and nobody at the exec level at Rockstar willl care because they will have filled their pockets and can jump ship.

I’m fucking done with Rockstar after GTA5. Took a great franchise and fucking ruined it with online mode. One of my first sessions ended up with a hacker teleporting everyone to a single location on the map and dropping millions on everyone.

Also, I can’t play Vice City (still my favorite) on PC without the Social Club bullshit or downloading a cracked version (I gave up on pirated software), despite it being a single player game. Just another company I’m happy to boycott forever.

granolabar,

Yeah the connection check is idiotic. Won't be buying

I bet it won't be as good, you can't have proper satire under the current censorship schemes ran by the owner class.

Esp in light of recent events, parasites will be insecure for a long time

nutbutter,

You should try playing Vice City on a PS2 emulator. Connect your emulator with retroachievements.org and try to get all the achievements. If you can find a legit PS2 copy, it won’t be piracy.

gnomesaiyan,
@gnomesaiyan@lemmy.world avatar

That’s a good wisdom! I still have my original PS2 disc packed away, but I’d have to get a DVD drive for my PC (I haven’t had one for years). They’re cheap enough, and I’ve got a few other games as well. Thanks!

reseller_pledge609,

If you’ve got a legit copy then just download a copy and run that on the emulator, no DVD drive needed.

It’s not piracy, it’s a backup.

DarkThoughts,

Just download an image if you have a legit copy.

Sylvartas,

I only ever bought RDR2 from them, which is still bringing me a lot of enjoyment, and after seeing how they squandered RDR online for the heinous crime of not printing money fast enough, I don’t think I’ll be buying anything from them for the foreseeable future.

echodot,

That’s my big problem with the online mode as well. They could have actually made it fun but it’s totally unplayable because they don’t do anything about hackers while at the same time even by legitimate means giving players access to fucking sci-fi death machines.

I’m so sick of spawning in and instantly getting blown up by a flying motorcycle with infinite rockets. That’s not even fun gameplay for the person the flying motorcycle.

That’s not a headline. That’s like the science community releasing a headline that Earth has been confirmed to be an oxygen rich environment.

Confirming obvious things is still important. Everyone knows a PS6 will exist but it’ll be huge news when it’s official

acosmichippo,
@acosmichippo@lemmy.world avatar

this is not huge news.

OrgunDonor,
@OrgunDonor@lemmy.world avatar

To me this is more like, the playstation 6 will have online connectivity.

echodot,

Well technically we’ve had it confirmed all the way up to the PS9. Which presumably will release alongside somehow the Xbox X because Microsoft can’t name a product to save their life

Kelly,

The source the Tweektown article is quoting also says:

Anticipation is so high that some competing game publishers are waiting as long as possible to commit to their release dates for the fall, according to people familiar with their deliberations who asked not to be identified because they weren’t authorized to speak publicly. The publishers want to see whether GTA 6 will make its deadline or slip into 2026, these people say, and they’re determined to keep their own games far, far away.

bloomberg.com/…/-gta-6-release-date-will-decide-m…

This is probably more interesting, that some upcoming games which don’t have release dates may be waiting for this before they commit to a schedule is somewhat noteworthy.

This game is looking less fun every day

echodot, do games w GTA 6 will have a 'significant online mode' to generate revenue for years into the future

Oh well I’m definitely going to get the game then. I was concerned that it wouldn’t be maximally profitable for shareholders.

I don’t need to know anything about the gameplay just that someone who isn’t me will make a lot of money out of this.

SnotFlickerman, do games w GTA 6 will have a 'significant online mode' to generate revenue for years into the future

Will the netcode be as crappy as in the original GTA Online? Sources say yes.

proti,

GTA Online was/is peer to peer. Imagine a world where they chose to have dedicated lobby servers…

deranger,

When you say peer to peer, does this mean every player communicates with every other player, or does one person act as the “server”?

Ghoelian,

I believe one person acts as the host. That’s why sometimes it’ll kick you out of a session and start loading again, that means the host has left and someone else needs to take over.

Lemme guess: microtransactions next?

As well as macro

Oh joy. What an important cultural contribution that will be.

We all figured that. The question is will there be any additional single player content.

This looks insanely good.

How these go Linux? Vroom or doom?

thedeadwalking4242,

I believe vroom, intel usually has good Linux support even having their own optimized distribution

Edit: it may have trouble with older titles

rickyrigatoni,

I love playing older titles…

dinckelman, do games w Intel Arc B580 'Battlemage' GPU announced - 1440p Ultra gaming for $249

Hopefully it will bring some decent generational improvements. The only thing i’m not a huge fan of is the 45% price increase over lasts gen, which isn’t even putting used or discounted cards into consideration

Kbobabob, (edited )

The last equivalent card was $112$172?

Edit: I’ve been corrected. That still seems incredibly low.

acosmichippo,
@acosmichippo@lemmy.world avatar

$249 is 45% more than $172.

Kbobabob,

Haha, you’re right. Brain fart.

fuckwit_mcbumcrumble,

Original MSRP of the A770 was $330 so that is a big improvement. I assume intel is sticking with a reasonable launch MSRP to set expectations right.

tomshardware.com/…/intel-arc-a750-a770-full-prici…

dinckelman,

The A580 launched at 175$+tax. We are not talking about the same card

fuckwit_mcbumcrumble,

…I completely forgot that was even a thing. It came out and nobody really cared. Only the 770/750 got love, and the a380 saw some appreciation for being the quicksync addon card.

Well regardless it’s the same MSRP as the A770 post price drop, and still outperforms it.
