I’m playing a few casual couch co-op games with my partner and our neighbours.

Overcooked, Out of Space, and Moving Out.

Up to four players. They involve a lot of communication, team work, and frustration. Lots of fun.

I LOVED Dying Light. I tried to get my wife to play with me, but she quit after 30 mins and had to calm down. It was too scary/stressful for her.

Currently preparing for a Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous playthrough, but I might play something else before then.

I’m definitely not gonna make my own builds, nor am I interested in that, with the hundreds of feats and spells in the game, many of which are just traps and no real way to learn. So I’m going through a bunch of different guides, a lot of which are outdated, and am currently creating a spreadsheet for me to reference, so I don’t have to sift through different videos and websites, every time I level up or do some other stuff (like the Crusade mode). I did the same for my BG3 Honor Mode playthroughs, and it makes everything so much more convenient.

Continuing my ninja adventures by playing Ninja Gaiden 2 (Xbox 360 version) this week. Since the original has such a fierce following and the remaster from this year was somewhat controversial I wanted to play it first to see how NG2B with the “White” mod holds up. It was a little more involved setting up emulation than NGB and Xemu, but it’s running well now albeit with minor graphical glitches. I actually for once kinda wish I had an Xbox Series X though for that native 4k60 HDR.

So far I’m enjoying myself. The highs of the game are really high, even compared to the first game: those frenetic massive hallway fights against hordes of aggressive ninjas are just pure adrenaline rushes and thrilling but stressful in the best way. While the combat in the first game was fast, it was still very measured and deliberate. This time it’s just pure coke-fuelled rabid frenzy.

The improved graphics, animations and gore also make the spectacle of combat heightened and the dismemberment mechanic is really fun and surprisingly strategic to play with.

Some enemies are just shit to fight though, like the dogs and the flying bat demons you have to take out with ranged attacks. Also the bosses have been very hit or miss. Genshin and the spider monster were fun but I was really close to quitting the game over Gigadeath between being one of the worst bosses in gaming and glitching out of the arena 25% of the time.

I’d really like to beat it but we’ll see how far I get.

Into the Unwell playtest. It caught my attention at Summer Game Fest and I was lucky enough to get the invite. I am loving it so far and can’t wait for it to release. Go wishlist it now!

Also playing a bit of Garfield Kart: Furious Racing. Fun little Kart game and the sequel is in the works.

Death Road To Canada is a classic, it is cartoonish horror but it is so highly critically acclaimed I have to recommend it.

Forewarned (haven’t tried)

Murky Divers (haven’t tried)

Endgame: Road To Salvation (it has splitscreen!)

Survivalist: Invisible Strain

and of course.

Deep Rock Galactic

maybe 7 Days To Die or Project Zomboid?

Abiotic Factor seems to be popular.

Storm Chasers seems like it could be categorized as co-op realistic horror lol, but it looks pretty fun actually

store.steampowered.com/app/862800/Storm_Chasers/

Another SOLID recommendation is Valheim, it has horror elements but isn’t really a horror game, still it is one of the better co-op open world games period.

store.steampowered.com/app/892970/Valheim/

edit wait do you mean local co-op?

Zahille7,

Abiotic Factor fucking RULES. I’ve put quite a few hours into co-op and I don’t usually seek out co-op in games (I also have a single player world with a fairly extensive farm base). The early game has such an amazing aesthetic and vibe that you truly don’t know what you’re getting into, especially if you went in almost completely blind like I did.

Zomboid would be another obvious pick for me, although I still haven’t played co-op or multiplayer at all. I’m scared about servers not having certain mods I keep in my list I guess.

Just got back into Sonic Mania Plus. I’m close to beating it. At one of the final zones with all chaos emeralds as Tails ( best character in the whole franchise, will not take any slander to his good name ). Totally didn’t cheat by opening the settings(dot)ini file to temporarily turn on the debug menu so I could get back the chaos emeralds I missed or didn’t get.

Besides that, haven’t played much besides Mindustry. I was stuck on Peaks on Erekir because I was dumb and couldn’t figure out how to transfer the tungsten. My solution was bad, but it worked. I stopped playing because the other planet is boring compared to the capture the enemy territory levels.

Escape the Backrooms and Phasmophobia definitely scratch that itch. Outlast Trials and Dying Light would also be in that vein.

The Alters. It’s great! Nice to see someone tackle ideas around some really deep philosophical questions and make an actually engaging game around them.

Also playing Elden Ring Reforged with some friends. Not sure if I care for it, I don’t really enjoy the souls-like gameplay.

Wanted to recommend The Quarry and similar. But they’re not really two player either. You just take turns.

Baldur’s Gate 3 has spooky elements, especially in Act 2. But I wouldn’t classify it as a spooky game.

House of the Dead are horror games but more on the action corny side. But I really liked House of the Dead: Overkill.

Zathras, do gaming w Weekly “What are you playing” Thread || Week of August 17th

Round 10±ish of Balder’s Gate 3. It is one of the only co-op/multiplayer games my husband enjoys, so we are always playing different characters, builds, alignments, story choices, routes. Started using some mods a few plays ago and it has brought some extra flair back into the game. Luckily we don’t play but once every other weekend so I don’t get burned out.

Alternate weekends/days I am still working my way through Clair Obscure Expedition 33. Really enjoying the storyline and music. Gameplay itself isn’t my favorite, but I like trying out new characters, builds, skills, combos as I work my way through exploring round one of this game. I am sure there will be at least one replay as I know there are things I have missed. I am not a true completionist, but I try to appreciate everything that has been built for the players to experience (unless it is truly not worth my time).

also stuck on death stranding 2 ;_;

Current progressI just met heartman

Im not enjoying it as much as the first :/

chloyster,

Aw I’m sorry to hear that. I’m loving it a ton so far. I’ll have to see where the story lands but gameplay wise it’s been amazing

beppe,

I still like it a lot! just not as much as i liked the original ds the first time :/ He seems to behaving more fun with the story sections though! (at least when hes not doing the classic kojima over explaining thing :p)

But i miss that feeling of isolation and just walking in silence i had in the first one, even though i dont understand why it doesnt feel silent now. Maybe its because i played it on steam and not on a playstation (interface stuff…)

Good luck on your journey though! keep on keeping on :)

chloyster,

You have received 100 likes from chloyster for liking her post on the Social Strand System 👍

:3

Good luck to you as well! And I also get that. The first was so unique that it’s hard to get that same first experience. And I think I see what you mean too with the silence. If I had to guess maybe it’s dollman, or all the new fun ways to get around, or the Magellan being available all over the place. I did have a great moment trudging through the mountains yesterday though that brought me back to some epic moments I had in the first game

Deyis,

Are you having the same feeling as me where it feels like there’s so much more play structures lying around compared to the first game? There’s freaking bridges EVERYWHERE.

obywatelle,
@obywatelle@szmer.info avatar

Mmm, nie. W angielskim przecinki oddzielają od siebie podrzędnie złożone części zdania - po prostu Anglicy mają inną ich definicję i co innego za nie uznają.
