Yes. I keep being surprised at how "fresh" 3 and 4 stay for me, given that the gameplay is not all that varied in the end. The gunplay is nice, the basic idea is nice, the execution works and I think Vaas and Pagan are interesting enough to sell the campaign for a good while. Hoyt is... also definitely one of the Far Cry villains of all time. 5 is fine if modified heavily, and 6... is undeniably a thing.
A new one was released in 2020 on epic games and I think it’s on steam now. It’s a remake / remaster the TMNF/TMUF games. It’s just called Trackmania but most people call it TM2020. It’s a subscription based game with tiers, which sounds shitty but the prices are pretty normal. Like the best tier is $60 for 3 years and that’s how long most people play $60 games anyway…
Player numbers aren’t that great daily on steam (considering most owners bought the epic version anyway), but all of the developer tracks plus most of the community tracks have leaderboards in the tens of thousands, even the hundreds of thousands for the seasonal track releases. There’s also a daily community highlight where players can race and compete on a community track hand-picked by Nadeo staff, so that really bolsters numbers on community tracks.
Multiplayer is kinda dead compared to the older games, but I also don’t think a lot of players play the game for the multiplayer anyway. There are even community playlists of tracks that you can play in singleplayer that go up to I think 50 tracks in size. So you can just pick one of those and play through a bunch without ever having to connect to a community server.
Too many pirates concentrate on one single hosting provider.
Plex has to keep up pretenses that it doesn’t want their customers to exclusively be pirates. Only legal CD/DVD/BR rips allowed! If it doesn’t, it’ll get sued to hell and back, and the Plex owners may go to jail for selling piracy as a service.
The Tarnished Archeologist makes great Videos fokusing on elden Ring and Bloodborne. His strengh is how He intertwines the Lore with the Real word historical inspiretions and their usage in These games. The (visual) presentation is worse than other Souls Youtubers but his Script is really well done and i usually learn a lot of New Things from games where i thought i knew everything
I have 2 servers through Hetzner, both I got from the auction side of the site.
My lower end server is what I use to run my seed box and up till now PLEX. I use the Higher end server to run some work projects and for experimenting with.
Thanks! I just found out about the auction option through this post. I’m curious, given the price per month, wouldn’t it be better to self host with similar hardware? Higher upfront cost but lower over time I’d think?
Just curious because I’m thinking about switching up my setup, self hosting Plex currently but lack the bandwidth that I’d likely get if I moved to a hetzner server.
Oh yeah, would be lower cost over time for sure. For me though, internet is kind of crap in my area and the work server gets a ton of access from coworkers. And my sister in another state watches movies and tv shows on my Plex. Both these server get over 1.2 gbps up and down. There is also no cost if I have a hardware failure. There are pros and cons for sure, like I’ve been wanting to do some stuff that could really benefit from a GPU but not really an option with the auction stuff.
Awesome. Yeah that would be one of my concerns for what I have now. My internet service is some pretty terrible residential internet so my upload speeds are absolute garbage here but I have some good hardware for Plex/jellyfin.
How’s transcoding on the hetzner server? Any issues there at all? In any case thanks for all the info!
99% of stuff worked fine, but when I had issues it was a random error about server being under powered which wasn’t true at all lol. Someone on a forum suggested using the official windows app from the store and once I moved to that for client side access, never got the error again.
Keep in mind though, if you plan to do Plex from Hetzner, after Oct 2nd it won’t work anymore. But others here have suggested JellyFin instead. I’ll be testing that out this weekend, and if all is good moving over from Plex all together.
Yeah I’ve been wanting to make the full jump to jellyfin anyway. The only thing holding me back really was some extra services I was using that were Plex only. Posterr for example, but jellyfin is on the roadmap and I can just roll my own version until then. The mobile clients have at least gotten pretty good as well for JF.
I checked out OpenAudible posted in this topic and it seems interesting, and might be a better choice. But if you’re looking to rip your audible files yourself you’ll want inAudible: github.com/rmcrackan/inAudible
There are other options around, but none of them are as free or as good as inAudible, IMO.
Ripping myself is what I did with Libation as suggested here. You log into your audible account when starting the software for the first time, your libary is shown and you can start to download.
When adjusting the auto tagging then audiibookshelf automatically sorts the stuff in the correct way with series etc.
Did something unusual for me and picked up the Pokemon DLC and started it before finishing Tears of the Kingdom. Needed a break from TotK for a while anyway. Since it’s only been out a couple days I don’t think I’ve gotten too incredibly far into it, but it’s still good ol’ Pokemon fun so far. I just really wish Game Freak would put more effort into fixing the optimization (if they can) because almost a year in it still chugs in places it really shouldn’t.
Well, with Game Freak, voting for wallet isn’t going to work, as Pokémon is really big and they have big enough following that is just going to buy anything with Pokémon name on it. So all we can do is pray. 😛
Still playing Pikmin 4, I think I might be close to finishing. It’s been fun, but I’m starting to feel a bit bored after almost 30 hours…
After yesterday’s Direct I got Horizon Chase 2 which I was expecting on the Switch. It’s a bit buggy (nothing major, just small things here and there), and the frame rate drops in some stages, but it’s still quite fun and the music is amazing. Barry Leitch never disappoints 🙌
I think I’m at the last site of the main campaign. I’ve been playing pretty relaxed and getting 100% in each site. HowLongToBeat says it takes 38½ hours for “Completionists”, so I’m guessing that’ll be how long it takes me at least. But I’m in no rush 😅
Horizon Chase 2 is pretty fun, it’s arcade racing, so pretty accessible for people who don’t play realistic racing games like me (the only other racing game I play is Mario Kart!).
I also played some Smash Ultimate during the weekend and I’m seriously considering getting Nintendo Online again to play online (and also for F-Zero 99…).
I think there are probably some that were loaned via audible plus or whatever, but audible says I have 440 audiobooks. Backing up the couple hundred I actually bought would be nice.
The Razer Wolverine is by far the best controller I’ve ever purchased. Got it now… 7 years ago and it’s still just an absolute champ. The initial price may scare off some, and the fact that it’s wired, but it’s the best damn controller I’ve ever used.
Flappers are 2 can be mapped to existing buttons (I have mine as up/down on the D-pad), and the other 2 raise/lower sensitivity of the sticks. So I can hold a flapper while sniping to get real precise.
It also has two little toggles on the inside between the bumpers which I have mapped to left/right on the dpad, which is really nice because I don’t have to take my fingers off the sticks, Witcher 3 this is amazing because what’s how you pull out a specific sword.
In Chernobylite, when you die (either by getting killed in specific circumstances or by committing suicide in a special device), you get a chance to alter the past by changing decisions you made in the game, which will end up in changing the story and a whole lot of things like companions’ attitudes, weapons at your disposal etc.
Odd Giants is based on the old MMO Glitch, and in that, when your character succumbs to empty stamina, you go to the underworld to recover. It’s a truly special game.
