I'm waiting for Silksong, as usual.

Crankenstein,

It was already silently revealed during the Nintendo Direct for the Switch 2.

No joke. Confirmed release for sometime this year.

Ashtear,

Fortunately, Silksong’s never missed a release window before.

KoalaUnknown,

Well, that aged as usual…

Last Epoch: Fun ARPG with a couple different female characters available. The buildcraft complexity strikes a sweet spot between Path of Exile and Diablo 4. You can definitely turn your brain off and kill enemies by the truckload.

Fallout 4: Along the lines of Skyrim, just swap fantasy with post-apocalyptic sci-fi. You can play as a girl, and see plenty of tiddies depending on mods (shoutout to the “A Storywealth” collection on Nexusmods).

Fallout 3 and New Vegas: see above, just older.

Wayfinder: fun RPG game with set characters, but a few are girls. Combat was fun IMO. This one started as a live service game, but after backlash and their publisher dropping them, the devs rebuilt the game as a pay-to-play game with an end.

Bayonetta: kill tons of baddies with over-the-top combat as a sexy witch.

Dynasty Warriors & other “musou” games: lumping these together, but girls to play and TONS of enemies to kill

Granblue Fantasy: Relink: plenty of girls to play as, and fun combat. Honestly, the biggest drawback to this one IMO is not enough content after you finish the campaign.

Saints Row 2, 3, 4: definitely self-indulgent trash, definitely boobs, still fun

ReplicantBatty,

I’d also recommend Saints Row 2 and 3. It starts off pretty normal but you get OP pretty fast to the point where you’re like an unstoppable force of nature, it becomes completely gratuitous and over the top. Pretty decent character customization as well.

Sophocles, do gaming w Self insert power fantasy recommendations?

These come to mind where you can kill enemies, be a girl, and are or are similar to an rpg:

Middle Earth: Shadow of War: main character is a guy but in one of the expansions you can play the story as Galadriel. Killing monsters and game mechanics are peak

Skyrim Mods: ik you mentioned Skyrim, but The Wheels of Lull, The Tools of Kagrenac, and The Forgotten City are game sized mods in of themselves and are very good

Elder Scrolls III Morrowind and IV Oblivion: both as good as Skyrim, but in different ways. Go in with an open mind and you will be amazed

Star Wars KOTOR I & II: my favorite games of all time, very much games where you can choose how your character acts and who they become. Great story too, as a fan of star wars or not

MummysLittleBloodSlut,

I beat Morrowind, and I like it, but nobody in that game is pretty. KOTOR is closer to what I want, but it’s very plot-y, and I already beat them both. I want something less thinky and faster paced.

SteleTrovilo,

Morrowind has mods that make characters prettier (this is an understatement). I highly recommend them.

If you want to play Hades as a girl, you can play Hades II :D

MummysLittleBloodSlut,

Hmmm, I only want to play it when it’s done. I really loved Hades 1, I want to get the full intended experience, no spoilers.

We’ve seen 3 phase boss battles. Maybe even 4.

Where’s the game with a 10-stage boss battle? I wanna yell “WHY WONT YOU JUST DIE?!” after he gets up for the 6th time in a row.

NigelFrobisher,

Nanomachines, son.

pastaq,

Whamp whamp What’s new pussycat…

DragonTypeWyvern,

I know I’ve played a JPRG where the final boss had six stages, but it also was annoying, not epic because I was overleveled and the game wasn’t hard in the first place

teft,
@teft@lemmy.world avatar

World of Warcraft had some fights that had way too many phases. Illidan had 5 if i remember right.

buggybug,
@buggybug@sh.itjust.works avatar

maybe the 10 phase boss battle was us, the players all along. you die to a boss and you show up at their doorstep once more, while they are thinking “HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO TEACH YOU THIS LESSON”

Pnut,

What’s worse is you beat the absolute shit out of them and they usually get set on fire and stabbed several times . Just fine, apparently.

NeryK, do games w What's going on with Borderlands 2? Steam is giving it for free, but the game has 23% positive recent reviews.

On one side of the ring, greedy corps which want to profile you better than the NSA does. On the other, drama-hungry and social networks-fueled outrage culture.

That’s how an old game giveaway backfires and becomes the scandal of the day.

Rinn, do games w The first weekly What Are You Playing? thread!

I’ve been trapped in a Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time addiction ever since that came out. I’m a huge fan of the original 3DS game, but it was kinda forgotten by gaming history. And now we have a much bigger and more polished game for more platforms! For those who haven’t heard of it: it’s a bastard child of singleplayer Final Fantasy XIV and Animal Crossing. Very cute and cozy, mercilessly addicting, simulates the experience of having ADHD incredibly well.

This is how it typically goes: you want new furniture for your house. You’re out of a specific kind of wood that’s needed, so you go to a place that has it. On the way there you see an NPC with a quest - some poor farmer is besieged by overgrown carrots, and wants you to kill 10 of them. Might as well, it’s only a slight detour. You kill the carrots, and then help yourself to some more crops on the farm, and get a rare carrot that you need to cook a dish to advance your Chef Life! Better get to that immediately, before you forget. You go back to town and cook the dish. You still don’t have that new furniture you set out to get.

About the only thing I don’t like is that the story quests are less weird than the original game, everything else is a straight upgrade.

CXORA,

I loved the first fantasy life. It was such a fantastic game for class mechanic junkies.

Never ended up finishing it though.

I am still working my way through Expedition 33. I’m in Act 2 and I’d estimate about half way into that. I’m still absolutely loving it.

teft, (edited ) do games w Marvel Rivals Question - How to Play Hulk?
@teft@lemmy.world avatar

That’s how he’s played. He’s a diver. You jump in and try to distract and/or kill a squishy or healer while your team pushes in behind you. Then you jump out if the push didn’t go well.

Edit: I would also say don’t wait to get healed. Learn the heal locations or run to the spawn for a full heal so you can get back in the fight quicker. I don’t play anymore but I did play a lot of the tanks.

Sometimes. I’m also a college student though with a ton of free time so it’s not like I don’t have the free time to play video games. Usually though when I play a game I take a ton of screenshots to just show friends, so I already have them. The tiring part usually comes from busy days like finals or when I’m out of the house all day

criss_cross, do games w Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Now Promotes Microtransactions When You Swap Weapons

Activision has always been awful but they’ve really done their damndest to ensure I never want to play a COD game again

  • Requires a phone number to play online
  • Their UI is the absolute worst thing I’ve laid eyes on. It spends more time advertising other products instead of showing, yknow, how to launch the game I paid money for. I quite literally had to google how to launch the CoD remake because their UI was so confusing
  • install sizes are absurd. I still remember the COD remake took 500GB to install
  • and now micro transactions in loadout screens

And this doesn’t even include all the fuckery with their C-Suite.

I don’t know why they make it so awful to try to play the game you paid full price for.

slaneesh_is_right,

I saw an activision sale on steam and was like: wow let’s see what they got in store. Just to realise that i don’t care at all.

IDK why just until now it strikes me that Supergiant Games are the same dudes that created Hades and Bastion lol.

Resplendent606, do games w Had a take about Supergiant Games that recieved a lot of pushback fromy teo longest eunning best friends.

Your friends are wrong. I completely agree with you. Bastion was amazing and I would love to see a follow up or a new ip that builds upon it without the roguelite genre.

ddash,

Bastion was just not my cup of tea. Somehow the fighting felt too chaotic for me. I mean, it felt like it was just button mashing, no matter how much I tried to have some tactic for it.

Not saying it is a bad game, I can see why people like it. But from that point of view, no, I don’t need another Bastion.

MyDarkestTimeline01,

And to be honest I had the same feeling when I played Hades. I felt more like I was dependent upon getting certain modifiers and weapons together otherwise I just was not going to make any progress. And I don’t think that’s a critique of the game itself it’s 100% in my abilities to play that sort of game. And from a personal taste standpoint my personal taste go towards bastion and transistor.

rigatti,
@rigatti@lemmy.world avatar

Part of the appeal of Hades for me is how it forces you to learn how to fight with different combinations of weapons and modifiers, as well as how differently those weapons play.
