I play Ocarina of Time randomizers using both a tracker and my own notes. That game is pretty huge, especially when things are shuffled around.

Host something like Jellyfin and maintain it your own streaming service.
Expose it to the internet for on the go.

I always wait for a game where you manage a remote Starbase and the main part is to put together Spaceships out of parts made by yourself or salvaged from fights. So you repair and build them out of a limited amount of parts and assign them to your pilots, give them patrols or mining missions etc.

Cpt_ManlyPink, (edited )

While it doesn’t have “parts salvaged from fights”, would recommend checking out Avorion.

  • Fun ship creator ( can make as simple or as complex ship design as you want, for some extreme examples check out Steam Workshop )
  • Manage fleet of custom made ships
  • Ship design affects handling, combat performance
  • Send ships to missions
  • Fight along side your ships, control other ships with RTS-like control options
  • Has optional multiplayer

Honestly, Elden Ring. I kept a small notebook on the side to write down all the different bits I didn’t want to forget. Clues and quests and stuff like that. There were so many things if you pay attention and take care to try to piece together. It was really fun to come across something many hours later and then pull out the notebook to find my notes on it.

Personally, I really like watching Nilaus play factory games. I enjoy playing the games to a point but he puts forth an amount of effort that I can never bring myself to emulate and it’s really satisfying even to just watch. Satisfactory, Tectonica, DSP, etc

hibby, do games w Where do you get your gaming news?

For general gaming news, I go with Jeff Gerstmann and the Nextlander guys. For more technically focused stuff, it’s hard to beat Digital Foundry and their methodology of focusing on the user experience over benchmark numbers. I think all of those folks have been around long enough to be above chasing the hype cycle for traffic and they all have context from decades of being in the industry. Rich from DF started working in games media in 1990 and Jeff started working at Gamespot in 1996. It’s hard to find other folks who have been in the industry that long and still working in games coverage.

Wow haha, as someone who finally got 6144 a few years ago this game really is a true gem and one of the greatest phone games of all time. 12 years ago I bought it on a whim on a lunch break, and it is easily the most played game of all time for me at this point (coming from years of cod, halo, rocket league, etc).

You honestly made my day with this post, my friends know me as the friend who still plays the weird 2048 clone, but I got my son into it too. He finally hit 768 and I was so proud lol. I am still trying to achieve a “perfect” game but the algorithm definitely doesn’t like it. Technically in the top 100 on the leaderboards lol

FlyLikeAMouse, do gaming w A love letter to Threes!

I genuinely believe that Threes! may be a perfect game - if anyone can tell me a single way it could be improved, I’d love to hear it.

I just had a look and, over the 9 years or so I’ve had it, I’ve played nearly 3000 games. I may have a problem.

bijuice,

It can be improved by not sending me 5 consecutive 2s while I’m fighting for my life on the last row of the board 😂

3000 games is mad! It really is addictive.

grhyn,

I have 27k games. I’m basically using Threes for stimming, not really trying to get any records, haha. Just very calming block sliding. Got 3072 only around 50 times and was close to 6144 a couple of those, but never got to it. Maybe one day I’ll go read some strategies on it and would try to achieve it, but for now I’m just content with what I have.

I remember that when Star Trek Online was first announced, it was VERY different than what it is now... and it actually more closely resembled what you were describing. Each character would be free to do some of their own hero stuff in the galaxy but also be on 'hub ships' where you were a smaller part of a much larger whole, participating in shipboard stuff. Then it changed hands or somesuch, and the new leadership said, "Nobody just wants to be some random person on a starship! Everyone wants to be the captain!"

To which I said, "No, actually... ._. I think I would enjoy just vibing on a supercool space ship with my Fully Automated Luxury Gay Space Communism lifestyle." So it would be interesting to see someone try to do STO as it was originally intended.

I want to know what Jet St Radio for the Wii could've been. Apparently one was tossed around, but at the end of the day was rejected. Tbf, this was 2006~ Sega, and it probably would've been trash. But I will still never not be curious about what could've been.

    Godort,

You’ve probably already heard about it, but take a look into Bomb Rush Cyberfunk. It’s coming out in about a month and looks amazing.

Ikr! I'm surprised it took so long for an indie project to fill the gap. If it's even half as good as jsrf, I'll be satisfied.

    • Anime cRPG, like if Obsidian collaborated with Atlus
    • MMORPG with Souls combat and no microtransactions (subscription model preferred)
    • Mass Effect, but with a good ending
    • A Bethesda game without bugs
    • Dating sim, but all romance options are your friends’ moms
Im28xwa, do gaming w Gaming laptop or handheld PC?

I should preface this by saying I didn’t try any of the handheld gaming PCs, I watched a review of the AyaNeo 2S, it uses the same APU as the Ally and still outperform it, especially at low wattages and if I remember correctly even the steam deck at the same power level maybe you wanna check that out!

I would choose a gaming laptop over a handheld just for the versatility and upgradability, I have my eyes on the framework 16 it is very intriguing, to say the least

Two Worlds 2 had a very interesting idea for a magic system where you find cards and slot them to create and modify spells. It's pretty jank but maybe worth a look. The game also had one of the most interesting multiplayer setups for open world rpgs I've ever seen.

    AlexisLuna,

From a cursory glance the spell system looks like close to what I’m looking for. Thank you for the suggestion!
