I just got back into San Andreas Multiplayer with a buddy of mine. It’s amazing how advanced the servers are these days in terms of scripting

Baldurs gate 3, just beat the game and now I’m going for a tactician run. The wife and I have also been playing pit people co op. We hooked up her steam deck to the living room TV and have been looking for more couch co op games!

Just DRG, waiting for the ocotoberfest event so I can grind 2x faster and finish the battle pass.

ClumZy,

DRG is so addictive, the only game to ever top L4D2 imo

dingus, do gaming w What are some games that "spin" failure states?
@dingus@lemmy.ml avatar

Owlboy is a story about failure. Each time you “succeed” it turns out other events that were happening nullified that success.

It’s not really the same thing, but the choice to foist failure on the player even when they “win” was an interesting story device.

Pathologic 2, it's a Russian horror game. There are real, permanent repercussions for dying and loading a save won't help you get rid of them. Sadly saying too much is a huge spoiler, but there's actually a storyline that's revealed with each death. Your deaths also affect the physical world.

figjam, do games w What games had easy soft locks that prevented you from either progressing or getting a true ending?

I played Earthbound as a kid and got stuck in a golem without the item needed to get out. Since I got it used I didn’t have the game guide. No idea how much stuff I missed but I never picked it up again.

abraxas,

I remember that, and I remember finding a way out too. I just don’t remember what it was.

I’m pretty sure that’s not a full-on softlock. Just so bad it feels like one if you miss something.

You’re probably looking for something like Deluge.

Plants vs zombies maybe?

My 10 and 6-year-old play some horror experiences on Roblox. You’d be surprised how well-made some of them are.

Hello neighbor might be good. I enjoyed the first one, the rest not so much. But I imagine a young kid would love it.

nekusoul, do games w What are some good funny games/mods out there?

When it comes to “classic” comedy, then Hi-Fi Rush is one of the highlights in recent times. Not only are there a lot of jokes in the dialogue that landed for me, all the cutscenes are also loaded with perfectly timed visual gags. Lots of humour hidden in the environment as well.

Other than that, any “serious” game that has a wonky physics engine can accidentally be pretty funny on accident. Slinging around corpses in Dark Souls 1 for example.
