Not a pc game but rather on mobile. It’s a really solid fantasy CYOA game and (if you wanted to) play through the next set of story chapters completely for free as long as you meet the achievement requirements. Barring that, buying books (as the game calls it) has a rather fair price. Unfortunately the game is incomplete as the solo developer has sadly passed away, but what is here is great with a decent length since there’s been years of book chapters. Genuinely a hidden gem that I discovered on a whim back early in highschool, and it’s sad that I won’t be able to see the end they envisioned, so with that in mind I’ll be replaying this game again in the near future.
Not “revived” since it’s still going, but I wish the mega man series would modernize. It’s 2024, I get side scroller was megaman’s thing but how I would love a modern, ratchet and Clank style platformer/open world where you go to different parts of the city to fight the different robots. But Capcom and most Japanese game companies are insanely opposed to modernizing and of making their games look current. Graphics wise they’re always outdated
I started a replay of Legend of Mana a while back. I love that game so much, but I haven’t been keeping up with the new releases. I know they did a big remake of SD3 not too long ago, and now a big new game! Anyone playing it?personal thoughts?
But my answer to this every time is Red Faction (1, specifically. While I did enjoy Guerrilla, I want to see a throw back to more fully destructible environments on next gen tech).
Panzer Dragoon. I only played and finished Panzer Dragoon Orta for the XBox when it came out. I tried the included original game, but I had a hard time telling depth and perception with the old graphics.
Got access to it a few days ago. I played it for a few hours. Here’s my take:
It’s just a tps dota
Now, I don’t mind that too much. My problem is with the plethora of issues combat has
Despite there being damage falloff, you are directly decentivised from fighting in close range. This is because you both have little minions on both sides that attack the enemy and heal you. Why would you jump into that? Why would you give up your source of healing?
It’s way too easy to retreat. So you just poked and prodded the enemy for 3-4 minutes, finally got into a favourable position, pushed in, and they’re already on the zipline out of there. Sure, this is good for you, you can attack their sentinel. But attacking their sentinel isn’t fun. It just stands there and attacks your minions. You’re punished too much for dying, why would you risk it?
The stun abilities are atrocious. Picture this: you and an enemy found each other without support. You’re deep in a close range firefight, having fun for once in the game. Then this rando pokes their head around a corner, stuns you, and you’re dead before the stun ends. Why is this in any game?
Most hero weapons feel like you’re shooting wet paper towels. The majority of them are fast-shooting, but not in a good CS way. More like “I sincerely hope this is changed and these are just placeholders” way. The few that actually feel good to play (such as the girl with the green arm or the greaser dude) either lack damage in general or damage in mid-long range fights, the majority of the game
The most fun I had in this game had nothing to do with objectives or lanes or teamwork. It was when I was going between lanes and found an enemy doing the same, causing a close ranged battle. Makes me wish they just made this as another TF2
