Lowbird, do gaming w Game Pass - What's your favorite sleeper hit?

Ravenlok is dope. It’s easy, and button-mashy, but my god the visuals and music make up for all of it. It swept me away. I think it would be especially fantastic for kids, but definitely enjoyable for adults to.

Valheim is great in single-player, to my surprise.

I like Redfall. ducks But seriously, I do. I like the big open world, the over-the-top vampire thing, the feeling of finding the best way to sneak up on the enemy and take them down. The guns feel satisfying to me. I get excited every time I find a better one. I’m curious where the story is going. Some of the set pieces and environmental storytelling moments are really cool.

I haven’t encountered many bugs at all. One time some enemies appeared out of nowhere, but honestly that just fit in with the vibe of the game anyway.

The AI is dumb, but… I’m finding I don’t care. They’re numerous and still manage to kill me sometimes. I’m ignoring it entirely the same way I ignore it in the original Deus Ex.

It’s not a Dishonored or a Prey, but it’s not trying to be, either. It’s great if you just want to explore an interesting map and do some sneaking and shooting and looting.

I’m obviously the minority in this opinion, but also, it’s on gamepass, so it doesn’t cost anything to try if you haven’t. I almost didn’t because of the reviews and I’m very glad I gave it a chance anyway.

miklo, do zapytajszmer w Jak przekonujecie aktywistów/tki, że używanie jedynie fakebooka do działalności nie jest najlepszym pomysłem?
@miklo@szmer.info avatar

Omori. Somber, sad, but goofy and joyful.

Other times terrifying, horrifying worse than a horror game.

I wept through the last five hours of this game, just straight up crying.

This game gave me everything from anxiety to existential dread, to laughs and moments that made my go aww.

This game spoke to me.

If you’re able to get a good internet connection, you could run anything on Geforce Now’s list. Not the most optimal gaming experience, but it can be satisfying enough.

To give something more specific I enjoy, try Backpack Hero. It’s a roguelike on the easier side, built around making absurd combos.

lost_faith,

I think let’s game it out did one of his satisfactory abominations on gforce now, seemed pretty good from the video (could have been someone else like imkibitz/kibitz but iirc it was lgio)

Some of my favourites…

  • TimeSplitters: Future Perfect - PS2
  • Sunset Riders - Arcade
  • Cadillacs and Dinosaurs - Arcade
thermal_shock,

Man I loved sunset riders and area 51 on the arcade.

games with little to no internet

This is kinda vague and I dont exactly know what you mean by this. Do you mean games that you can play on a single screen? Or games with LAN or private server capability such as Minecraft?

For local co-op games:

  • Gauntlet Legends & Dark Legacy
  • Halo 1-Reach
  • Dragon’s Crown
  • Helldivers 1 (broken in RPCS3 unfortunately, but if you have a PS3 can be played offline)
  • The Legend of Zelda Four Sword Adventure
  • Any Call of Duty Zombies (beginning with World At War)

Kuri Kuri Mix. PS2. FromSoft’s forgotten game.

Baldurs Gate Dark Alliance was good too. Felt like Gauntlet.

Rainbow Six 1 (GOG) and 3 (Steam) are both playable via LAN and some of my favorite co-op games ever. The first game may require hacking some easy-to-read level config files to make them finishable, but 3 doesn’t have that problem. Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear isn’t available for purchase anymore. I hear SWAT 4 (GOG) is great for scratching this itch too, but I haven’t played it myself.

While not so story focused, you could also co-op Star Wars: Battlefront II; the good one, from 2005 (GOG).

Nucleus Coop (for Windows only unfortunately) makes lots of games that ordinarily don’t have offline splitscreen to work in that way.

wolfiedafloof,

Don’t worry. Linux has Wine and can often emulate windows games. Few occasions its even better framerate than actual windows. But not as common to see :P Great recommendation!

Timesplitters 2 and 3
Portal 2
Kirby Super Star

wolfiedafloof,

Ooo, i LOVE timesplitters! Awesome game! Wish more games today was less PvP online and more campaign co-op. That game is amazing.

Borderlands 2 is great for co-op, but I’m not sure if you can do local splitscreen if that’s what you’re looking for.

theskyisfalling,

I’ve only played Borderlands 2 in local split screen co-op.

If you have Skyrim and want a new story, download Enderal. It’s pretty much an entirely new game built on Skyrim’s engine. It’s pretty great and free if you already have a copy of Skyrim
