OtterPops, do gaming w Cosy, brainless games when you're sick

A few brainless clicks now and then, you say? A couple years ago I was sick and I played the game The Longing and I remember thinking it was the perfect stuck at home sick game.

@tranzystorek_io@beehaw.org avatar

I played The Longing when I wasn’t sick, but the pacing felt worse than sluggish, so it was a quick refund.

OtterPops,

See that’s the problem. You have to be sick enough that you need everything to move at a snail’s pace. Lol

shakesbeare, do gaming w Need Mod Suggestions to make Witcher 3 less grindy
@shakesbeare@beehaw.org avatar

See you found a solution but I’m still curious how you had this problem. There were very few enemies that I felt had a health pool wildly too large and it was usually as a result of the enemy upscaling feature rather than death March. Those two enemies begin the Djinn and a certain swordsman fight from the DLC.

I had to consistently play with upscaling on because the enemies were generally too squishy and I was killing them so fast the challenge of death March was wasn’t completely unnoticeable.

I wonder if it was your build or perhaps some other aspect of your gameplay that made this happen?

@snowbell@beehaw.org avatar

I ended up quitting the game because some early game enemies were too tough, on casual mode :(

When people say stuff like this it makes me feel like I’m missing something

followthewhiterabbit,

I see this weird Death March thing everywhere. I replayed through recently on the easiest setting (story and sword, I think its called?) and had a GREAT time.

If you ever feel the urge, I can’t recommend it enough. The first couple hours of playing are like an extended tutorial. The entirety of White Orchid is a learning zone, really.

As everyone says, once you reach the Bloody Baron quest, you see just how amazing the game and the writing can be!

Zo0, do gaming w What’s one of your favorite game soundtracks?

not to be a hater but GTAV Radio station songs are ‘licensed music’ not soundtracks, also you can just fire up spotify or youtube if you just wanna listen to them instead of running GTAV each time

@orca@orcas.enjoying.yachts avatar

The benefit to the radio stations in game is that you get the silly commercials and commentary too. I like the whole package together. Sometimes I’ll drive around while just listening too, which is fun.

Tastyzero, do gaming w What’s one of your favorite game soundtracks?

The Dig, FFVII, Indiana Jones and the fate of atlantis, Morrowind, Quake.

Lots more, especially classic midi tracks but those are my top 5 (subject to change of mood and season).

Omegamanthethird,

Shout out to Morrowind. That opening menu BOOM, BOOM-BOOM gives me chills.

Also Final Fantasy VIII, X, XII are some of my favorites of the series. But the franchise really has a lot of top-tier music.

Very complete. Not sure if it is 100%.

AER: Memories of Old

Both are very relaxing games about being a bird and flying around a beautiful, somewhat surreal landscape.

Fallout: New Vegas might be enjoyable for you. It is a smaller game than skyrim, and has everything you like about skyrim and more.

HL2DM had some awesome rat maps. I need to backup my collection of source maps off my old hard drive.

anon6789, (edited ) do gaming w Recommendations for open world games with focus on interaction instead of exploration or survival

I think Life is Strange (I’ve only played the first one) may possibly be of interest. There’s no action like GTA or Watchdogs, but it’s all about your interactions with the NPCs and the town.

It felt there was blowback at the ending when it came out because people said your choices didn’t matter, but I thought the point of the game was to influence you to make thoughtful and impactful decisions, not to influence the NPCs. I really got a lot out of the experience.

There are moments the game won’t tell you about like when opening a window or watering a plant will change future events. Whether you find this outcomes significant or not will be related to your enjoyment of the game as whole.

AnarchoYeasty,

Life is strange is pretty far from a open world game though and the options for meaningful interactions are virtually non existent.

Bo prowadzi do gigantycznych nierówności społecznych, skrajnej prawicy, a ostatecznie do faszyzmu.

Kubenqpl,

Skrajna prawica to już nie liberalizm. Polskie opcje typu Konfederacja to nie liberalizm a skrajna prawica. Prowadzą do zamordyzmu ograniczania wolności ideologicznej i państwa katolickiego, z jakimiś tam wstawkami wolności gospodarczej. Właśnie się obawiam że większość myli liberalizm z prawicą konserwatywną

I’ve been DMing a Scum and Villainy campaign, a space opera based on the Forged in the Dark family of games.

My group has been playing a few different systems together for a couple years now and this might be the most fun we’ve had. They get to cruise around space stealing, smuggling and generally being a bunch of scallywags. The campaign setting is a really solid base that I’ve been building on top of and I have so many ideas for things I want to try.

I’m jealous of your 5E campaigns. My D&D group I play with has been on hiatus this summer so I haven’t gotten to play much this year but I’m going we can start up something soon.

Fatbuddha, do gaming w Stray really disappointed me. I want a real cat game.

Make it people would love it, though I'd say the opening ends with the place being on fire so as the cat needs to escape and that's where the separation stems from, because I couldn't imagine just forgetting my cat.

That just made me think you could also make the game where the family abandons the cat and it hunts them down and kills them, same premise though, in the end the cat finds the family.

Blade of Darkness. If you want to see the true origin of the soulslike genre, this is it. Be warned that the controls are extremely janky, though.
