NecroMemories, do gaming w What are some good PSP games?

Mercury was a before release review game, which for mobile graphics was pretty mind blowing for me at the time of release.

If you want a game that runs poorly then check out Squad

Something definitely seems off about the 2070 if it is struggling at 1080p so don’t give up yet. You might still get to play if you diagnose what’s wrong.

I have heard similar complaints about performance from my friends, and I have solved most of them by simply suggesting they check their fans. Not just case fans, but the GPU/CPU, too. Check that they’re actually spinning and getting adequate airflow. Unplug and then vacuum them. You’d be surprised how much of a difference that can make.

If you like ARPGs, I remember enjoying Untold Legends a lot as a kid. Was a PSP launch title, and had a very dark themeing. I don’t know if my kid memory can be trusted on the quality but I’ve seen a few other people recommend it on here so I doubt it’s bad.

Work Time Fun is a sort of strung-out Wario Ware that I really enjoyed back in the day. If you like minigames, trinkets, and grinding, then check it out.

This series ain’t for everyone, but I personally like the Hatsune Miku Project Diva rhythm games and recommend them since I like the variety of songs they have.

ICastFist, do games w What does getting "delisted" off Steam means for games I already own?
@ICastFist@programming.dev avatar

You can’t see the store page anymore, that’s it. I know because I own a delisted game that I don’t even remember when/where I got, an astronaut FPS in zero-G asteroids or something. I can still install and try to play, can’t actually play because it’s multiplayer only and servers are dead.

First game has been mentioned already, but I wanna make sure it’s clear how singular the game is.

Blasphemous. In case you didn’t check it out: You should. It got multiple major updates (new areas, bosses etc.) that were completely free and sometimes you can grab it on sale for as low as 6€. It even has NG+ only content for replayability that’s actually worth it (trust me, it really is). The movement in this game is beautifully smooth and the pixel art is consistent. More importantly the combat is actually excellent unlike many other metroidvanias (as well as souls-likes) that unfortunately fail here imho. The platforming is unique, but relatively easy to learn (but you need to try), although the game has specific areas where it becomes more or less important. Blasphemous 2 also exists, however I haven’t played it yet. It isn’t as hard as Dark Souls titles or so, but it’s a souls-like that won’t go easy on you at some points. OST by Carlos Viola is also nice for people who like themselves some flamenco style.

If jRPGs count: Chained Echoes. I will never shut up about this game, since it has gotten a lot of attention, however not NEARLY enough… no one seems to really care about it anymore, but it’s one of the best games I have ever played and I feel sad how it has been overshadowed by games with better marketing/higher budgets that weren’t comparable in terms of gameplay or charme at all! It has everything: Awesome gameplay with many QoL features to adapt to the game or adapt the game to you, cute and profound character designs/artwork, a storyline and an AWESOME OST! Honestly, the music is beautiful in this game… the game has been made by one guy only, however you won’t notice that (except with occasional silly bugs). The music has been made by someone else though (Eddie Marianukroh) and with the help of some awesome musicians (like Gregory Orosz aka. Gamer of the Winds). I wholeheartedly recommend giving it a try!

finn1sher, do edc w (Request) Looking for a CCW backpack without a lot of Velcro
@finn1sher@mstdn.ca avatar

@Vej I would look at the Vertx Gamut backpack! I'm not a fan of this American company that tries to act all macho and patriotic while manufacturing their stuff who knows where, because they just say "imported". Instead of "Made in China" or "This is our partner factory in Vietnam at this specific address".

You're not gonna find a CCW bag without Velcro to be honest, that's how you attach the holster. But the gamut seems easy to clean out and none of the Velcro is exposed to the exterior

Vej,

Alright it’s in the running now. That looks pretty sweet. Thanks for the suggestion

Dzięki za radę! Faktycznie karcher powinien dać radę, a coś o tym nie pomyślałem. Warto rozmawiać :D

ULS, do gaming w I hate the term "Boomer Shooter"

Who says boomer shooter?

onlooker,
@onlooker@lemmy.ml avatar

It feels like everybody, here are just a few examples. And if that doesn’t cut it for you, Steam has a whole-ass tag for boomer shooters.

Telorand,

Man, this is the first time I’ve heard that term. But then, I don’t play anything in this genre anymore, so maybe it’s just by virtue of the fact that I’m out of that space almost entirely.

skulblaka,
@skulblaka@startrek.website avatar

There’s been a big revival of that genre over the last 10 years or so and I think Boomer Shooter was adopted as a way to differentiate it from your standard FPS. Turbo Overkill is very different from Borderlands which is very different from COD. You’ll need a way to communicate that difference if you want fans to buy your game.

Telorand,

That’s cool. Always neat to see things come back but with the modern understanding of game theory.

4am,

I mean it became a tag on steam it’s so common. “Retro-style FPS” doesn’t roll off the tongue quite as easily. Boomer = Baby Boomer generation (or close to it) where the engineers making the things; so while it’s not entirely accurate of the dev demographic of the day, “the things people who are now old used to make” is the meaning. Boomer is also like “boom” because there big loud guns, big loud sfx, ridiculous explosions, etc.

Why does this have to be a point of contention? No fun allowed? What is this, Nintendo?

ursakhiin,

As for why it might be a point of contention with many millennials.

My best guess is we’ve spent years being accused of doing things by boomers who didn’t know that Gen Z was a thing and now it feels like we are being lumped in with Boomers because Gen Z can’t be bothered to learn that more than one generation camr before them.

For Gen X it may just be that they constantly feel forgotten and want to be known.

Cmor, do games w Best sidequests in the Fallout games?
@Cmor@lemmy.world avatar

I did the Mechanist quest line in 3 for the first time recently, not sure how I missed it on my first playthrough in 2008. Like with the Silver Shroud quests in 4, I just love the over the top retro comic book vides.

I’ve got Charon wearing the Mechanist suit and I’m wearking the ant villain one. Its the ultimate team up!

Zehzin,
@Zehzin@lemmy.world avatar

I have my problems with Fallout 3, but that mission and “You Gotta Shoot Them in the Head” (which gets bonus points for having a secret outcome that’s not explicitly mentioned and comes up organically and involves breaking into a heavily armed military compound) are some of the best quests in the series.
