Should have been called “UnCivilized”

Hell yeah, Shipbreaker had some cool worldbuilding that I vibed with while tearing shit down. Who knows when it's actually coming, but I'm looking forward to more stuff in that universe.

marlowe221,

I want a similar experience where I’m a space ship repair man instead of scrapping them.

Zahille7, do games w "Multiple" future Hardspace projects are coming, as Hardspace: Shipbreaker devs Blackbird Interactive take full ownership

I just liked taking things apart, so I hope there’s just more of that. Maybe even bigger ships we can work on? And modded ships, so people could make stuff like the Millennium Falcon, the Serenity, or even the Rocinante; maybe even bigger than those?

Jeffool,
@Jeffool@lemmy.world avatar

As much as I’d love the ability to have mods, and I’d love that, I’d love multiplayer even more.

knightly,
@knightly@pawb.social avatar

Both of these are very good ideas.

Getting multiplayer to work well sounds like a very real challenge, given that the physics are complicated enough to slow the game to a crawl when a core blows.

Expand into gigantic cruisers. Make repair a mission? Have to start cutting into derelict, including alien, remove damage, bodge, transplant…

Get em going enough to find the next rig… Rogue like? Refit discovered, take over, find the next, fix up for trade, cut down for scrap etc.

I’m all about options in this arena. Ship breaker is ripe with good options here.

Good to hear.

To save anyone from digging for more details – “making adjustments” was all the info that was given by a trusted source in a community message in their Discord.

Good. I mean, who does this? You’re selling flight tickets before the plane is even built. At least wait until the game is released to gage if players even want a DLC.

Even still, you’ve shown your hand. Now players think that you were sectioning off development of certain aspects of a game to then later sell off for extra cash instead of focusing on releasing a fully built game. Terrible mistake.

Klear,

You're selling flight tickets before the plane is even built.

I'm pretty sure that's actually happening in some cases.

Call_Me_Maple,
@Call_Me_Maple@lemmy.world avatar

With the state of the world rn, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if that was the case.

bless,

Hear me out: funding a plane on Kickstarter

what is the future of this IP? i feel like Paradox has fumbled this at every turn.

shani66,

Dead. Well, they’ve did a rebrand on an internal team back to the name white wolf, but a rebrand doesn’t mean anything. Maybe paradox will change going forward, but they seem to genuinely hate the WoD franchise so I’m not holding my breath.

Nico_198X,
@Nico_198X@europe.pub avatar

oddly enough i think they actually love the IP, but are just legit terrible at managing it. maybe their ideas are just bad. XD

i’ll stick with Onyx Path. they should have just done that.

PushButton, do games w Paradox are "making adjustments" to Bloodlines 2's day-one vampire clan DLC plans, following backlash

Paradox was a company I was looking for in the past. Now, they became a hard pass since, what… City skylines 2? Or something…

The never ending DLC abuses and the drop of Linux support on top of buggy releases (and DLCs) made me do a 180 degrees with them.

It’s kind of sad really.

Glamborghini,

They seems to fully turn the corner to oblivion with their handling of the debacle that was CS2. Just a failure from top to bottom. A far cry from the glory that original Cities:Skylines was. Now it’s just constant DLC’s that paywall basic mechanics. Surprised they haven’t made the games in monochrome and charge for DLC color packs.

leave_it_blank, do games w Paradox are "making adjustments" to Bloodlines 2's day-one vampire clan DLC plans, following backlash

My plan was to buy it on release, but the moment I read they would release clans as DLC the game was dead to me.

I’ll check back in a year or two. Maybe then when everything is in one package.

Redacted,

Verbatim my thoughts as well. I dont even like either of the clans in the dlc, its the principle

“It was just Terry because he kept stealing pens from the supply closet for his own personal use.”

Lost_My_Mind,

20 years ago I had a boss that always held his pens in his mouth.

So one day, when I was the only guy in the office, I took all his pens, and one by one stuck them up my butt.

Then I put them back in his cup.

Anyone actually playing 7? I know of no one personally, and I’ve played them all religiously

warm,

Nah, 5 is still the goat.

zipzoopaboop,

Yeah they lost me on 6 and 7 looks to go even further in that direction

BombOmOm,
@BombOmOm@lemmy.world avatar

Naw, 5 and 6 are where it is at.

Nelots,

Nah, 2 was the series peak.

iMastari,

Naw, 1 was the GOAT. The full game, no DLC, one price.

brucethemoose, (edited )
MBech,

That’s about as expected. As a big fan of civ, it just looked like a worse version of 6, which was a worse version of 5.

Only reason for the bigger playercount of 6 is because of Sean Bean’s incredible narration.

brucethemoose,

I bet proportionally more DRM-free buyers play 5 and 4 too.

SlartyBartFast,

Just want a version that is strategic-view only

warm,

You can play Unciv I guess, I don't see why you would want a strategic view only though? Nothing stopping you just using that mode exclusively yourself.

SlartyBartFast,

It’s because my computer is old

warm,

I think you can enable it as the default mode and then it will load the game quicker? Definitely checkout Unciv though if you haven't already!

SlartyBartFast,

UnCiv is honestly wicked, it deserves a lot more limelight than it gets

pycorax,

Honestly that’s just how Civ has been for the past few releases, most people don’t get it until the typical set of 2 major expansion packs come out and eventually go on sale. The base price of the full package has always been crazy high.

brucethemoose,

We will see. 'Cause for all Civ 6’s (and every Civ’s) controversy, this feels different… It’s like people have forgotten 7.

AmbiguousProps,
@AmbiguousProps@lemmy.today avatar

Nah, I didn’t even bother. I only play 5 & 6.

CrabAndBroom,

I played through exactly one full game, and it just felt… pointless, I guess? Like I was just clicking through turns to get to the end and none of it mattered. Then it told me I’d lost and was like “K” and then played Civ VI for a bit.

BlameTheAntifa,

It shipped with Denuvo and I don’t pay for malware. It’s the first Civ game I haven’t bought at launch. I’m including the original.

Ugurcan,

It doesn’t have Hot Seat either. I instantly refunded when I realized that. How the hell a Civ game have multiplayer but not hot seat?

Prathas,

Might it get added later, hopefully?

Ugurcan,

I don’t buy promises anymore, sorry.

Bademantel,
@Bademantel@lemmy.world avatar

I mean why play an unfinished game? The radical changes sound interesting to me but it needs at least two add-ons to flourish, the same old story as with 5 and 6. I can wait and pick up the complete experience for half the price if that ever sees the light of day after the layoffs.

EncryptKeeper,

Well they removed the ability to play as “A civilization” in the game called “Civilization” so yeah everyone I know has swore off it.

lmagitem, (edited )

Yes and no. If you want to play China you can play as the various chinese incarnations from beginning to end.

It only works with China for some mysterious reason though.

Cornelius_Wangenheim,

It still amazes me they took the worst feature from Humankind and somehow made it worse.

Walk_blesseD,

Yeah, I like it. It's definitely an unfinished product and lacking a lot of content and polish atm, but it's got the bones of a good game. Absolutely not worth the current asking price tho

garretble, do games w Civilization 7 developers Firaxis have laid off an unspecified number of workers, 2K confirm

SereneSadie, do games w Civilization 7 developers Firaxis have laid off an unspecified number of workers, 2K confirm

Stop supporting 2K shit.

I’ve been saying this for years. And nobody listens.

TipRing,

I listened. I bought Civ6, hated it, didn’t get any of the predatory DLC and went back to Civ4. Didn’t give Civ7 so much as a glance. Sad to hear it went downhill from 6 though.

Bonesince1997,

I think some of the DLC is what made Civ6 eventually tolerable. But that’s already a bad sign.

TipRing,

It is a Civ tradition, BotS made Civ4 amazing, but I’d argue the base game was solid and just needed some mechanical polish.

Lumisal,

Yup, without Luigi there to kill the bugs it’s been pretty tough I suppose.

comador,
@comador@lemmy.world avatar

This. Fuck 2K Games, quit buying their shitty EA level titles and move on.
