Someonelol, do gaming w Hidetaka Miyazaki 'knows for a fact' other FromSoftware devs want a Bloodborne PC port: 'If I say I want one, I'll get in trouble, but it's nothing I'm opposed to'
@Someonelol@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

I started playing this the other day on a standard PS4 and the frame rate can be really choppy at times. A PC port taking advantage of modern hardware would be amazing. The art direction’s already perfect, it just needs to run at a frame rate that doesn’t make it difficult to time combat maneuvers.

theangriestbird,

With all the exclusives that Sony has ported to PC, it’s so mind-boggling that this is the one they’ve kept on ice. Maybe they feel like a remaster is their ace-in-the-hole for PS6, a la Demon’s Souls?

overload,

I believe this is exactly what’s happening. Why would they just patch this in or release a mid-console cycle remaster when they can release a system-selling remake.

Coelacanth,
@Coelacanth@feddit.nu avatar

For sure. Will probably be even more likely if the Elden Ring DLC does really well and further propels FromSoft into a true mainstream household name.

Bloodborne 60fps patch is on Silksong levels of hype in the souls community. Guaranteed sales FS.

TonyTonyChopper,
@TonyTonyChopper@mander.xyz avatar

From has sat on this so long that 60 fps isn’t even good anymore. I’ll wait for the 120 fps patch before buying

overload,

I’m in the camp that 60fps is still acceptable. With the Steam deck I think I’ve even moved to thinking that a stable 45 fps feels smooth enough. 120Hz is a bonus, but I think mods will give you unlocked framerate if the game comes to PC.

TonyTonyChopper,
@TonyTonyChopper@mander.xyz avatar

Framerate unlocking mods on PC for other From games have had major issues. The studio still has terrible practices with tying animations to framerates, damage to framerate, etc

overload,

Agreed, it’s not perfect. Never mucked around with them myself, as 60 has been fine enough.

Last I heard, there were some issues about who owns the IP and copyrights? I’m not overly familiar, but legal jungle combined with corporate politics may be scary enough to navigate that Miyazaki would rather be careful around making explicit statements

prole,

Oh great. Can’t wait for Sony or something to come in and completely ruin the IP with a movie or some shit.

It’s bound to happen.

Sony has been breaking into the PC space for a bit now.

I watched the trailer and thought to myself, 20 years ago me would be super excited for this game!

This is taking way too long.

Zehzin, do games w I played Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector and talked to its creator about quests that 'don't give you the dragon money'
@Zehzin@lemmy.world avatar

I picked up the first one like a year back and ended up playing it through in two long sessions.

I relate to the Mass Effect 2 comments. One of my absolute favorite RPGs that fails at basic RPG things.

Bademantel,

I got the first game a month ago and binged it in three sessions. It was a fantastic experience, and I rate the game highly. However, I wish the decisions you made had a more significant impact on the story. I understand that maintaining a great narrative can make this challenging, but I hope part 2 can expand on that aspect. From what I’ve heard, it sounds like it might offer more flexibility in choices. Regardless, I’ll probably enjoy it either way.

This is one of the saddest stories in gaming. Author was depressed and friends help him create a game. Game is considered one of the greatest games ever created only the publisher screws original team out of the rights to the game mimicking the exact type of short sighted bullshit that creatives have to deal within the Disco Elysium world.

Kyle_The_G,

I loved this game, DLC would have been a day 1 buy for me

The whole situation is great performance art though, no notes.

Rageagainstbelief,

Probably my favorite game maybe because of some similarities with the main character I loved the redemption arc. I loved the capitalist socialist critiques. I wish more games would focus on that dichotomy.

Devs should be focusing on their next project and celebrating the triumph that is DE. It’s heartbreaking to see everything unfolded in the years after its release.

After all the years, i finally see Will Wright as a real person. I only knew his avatar from the SNES game itself, back in the 90s. He looks a bit different than I had in mind. Oh and while I researched a bit, found this one:

I wonder if this is kind of how the Balatro dev feels

eratic, (edited ) do games w FromSoftware says Elden Ring's popular Seamless Co-op mod is 'definitely not something we actively oppose,' and may even 'consider ideas like that with our future games'

One of the reason why seamless coop is so good is you can play with mods without having to go offline and disable anti-cheat. I fully expect their implementation of this won’t allow for that.

The fact that I can’t do something as simple as turning off that god-awful chromatic aberration without anti-cheat banning me for cheating is so ridiculous. It’s so bad that I only play offline and at the moment, Seamless Coop is the only way I can play multiplayer.

voracitude,

It’s so good for more reasons than just being able to use other mods safely! It’s really nice being able to transition between areas without having to resummon, how some progression/unlocks are shared, and that all connected players get to use Torrent and spirit ashes.

Thorry84,

The online for seamless coop isn’t actual online, it’s limited to the functionality of the mod and doesn’t use the official servers. You can in principle get cheaters on that, but most people have it setup to only connect to friends. And when you are using mods you are probably just having fun and playing for the memes instead of being a hardcore PvP player.

I personally love seamless coop, I had hoped FromSoft would have made the coop like that from the beginning. So happy mod makers are putting in the time to make it work. I’ve played over 100 hours with my brother and had so much fun. I can recommend mods like The Convergence as well, combined with seamless it’s so much fun.

eratic,

I’m talking about offline/online generically here, not whether it’s using the official servers. I know it’s not using the official servers which is why you can play with mods

bread,
@bread@feddit.nl avatar

Their anti-cheat implementation could definitely use some work. Either that, or just give players the option to disable chromatic aberration, use ultrawide etc. I played the entire game offline, with the exception of a few specific spots. Sucks.

eratic,

The ultimate solution is to allow for P2P online with official servers as the default, and just warn people that you might encounter cheaters if you use P2P. Can even go a step further and separate the player pools between unmodded and modded clients. So you can play online with mods, but run the risk of encountering cheaters. P2P should mean you can ban certain people from invading you due to hacks or high ping similar to DSCM back in the day, but in-game.
