As long as you’re running KDE, it will feel familiar to a Windows user. I started with Kubuntu which was great until I had a system update, and it completely shat itself. Wanted to try Bazzite next, but the installer wouldn’t work properly, so I installed OpenSUSE Tumbleweed, and I’ve seen no reason to switch since.

No.

I use the Decky plugin, and paid for GOG support, but they have their work cut out for them in convincing me to pay for this. Running Heroic isn’t that much of a hassle.

Journalists in general have lost an unbelievable amount of credibility, and games bloggers are the bottom of the barrel.

I got excited for a second until I realized it’s a remaster. Yeah, I don’t really care at that point.

Are mods usually confusing as hell or am I just an idiot?

I’m newish to modding games. I have been on a console my whole life and PC gaming is still relatively new to me. I’ve been modding a few games lately like Mass Effect and Baldurs Gate 3… It’s like a whole ass research assignment to figure out how to load mods. Each one different with different rules. I decided to not...

bread,
@bread@feddit.nl avatar

Can’t say that I’ve ever had this issue. Usually mod authors will tell you where to install them, or package the files in a folder structure such that there is no thinking involved.

bread,
@bread@feddit.nl avatar

You just aren’t perceiving the issues that are there. SH2 stutters. That’s a fact.

Until they reach a threshold of consecutive disappointing results, and EA lays off the entire studio.

Do your mental health a favor and stop devoting attention to this.

It’s not hard at all, you choose what you allow to take root in your mind. Additionally, I disagree that that’s what he did; his motion was not an actual heil, and I feel that labeling it as such without better evidence continues the unfortunate trend of dilution powerful words. I don’t think a conversation on this topic will yield anything meaningful, so I’m not going to elaborate further, but I wanted to present an opposing opinion.

bread,
@bread@feddit.nl avatar

They shouldn’t hold any credibility in the first place, I’m just some faceless username. I already saw the video, that’s what my opinion is based on. I say his hand’s angle and movement are quite different from a heil, but if you want to disagree, that’s fine as well.

Bioware has been circling the drain for years, and it’s clear the people who made it special have long since left. If I worked there, I would have already been looking for employment elsewhere because this isn’t going to last.

A decent example of a bad d-pad would be the Switch Pro Controller. Unless they’ve fixed it in a later revision, the controller has an issue with outputting diagonals when they aren’t intended.

Ciri being a witcher is already going outside of existing lore, and it seems very unnecessary; she’s powerful enough in her own right, and shouldn’t need to be swapped 1:1 for Geralt.

Let me assure you, if you’re not actually an EU citizen, signing would be a decidedly bad idea. All that would accomplish is pumped numbers that will be disregarded in the end, so it can only serve to hurt the campaign.

FF7 Remake. I tried a “demo” and have been waiting for a sale. It’s still more than I’d like to spend on the game, but I want to go back and continue my saved game.

bread,
@bread@feddit.nl avatar

There usually aren’t many complaints of something being woke if the product is actually good. I think the main takeaway is that nobody wants to be lectured, and told they are wrong for having a different opinion, and amateurish writing can easily come across as preachy or being a self-insert.

Sid Meier’s Pirates! There are so few actually good pirate games.

I wanted to play this, but not enough to interact with their launcher and Denuvo.

bread,
@bread@feddit.nl avatar

True, but even through Steam, you’re still dealing with Ubi’s launcher and Denuvo, so it’s just adding another layer on top.

PS5 Homescreen Now Replaces Unique Video Game Art With Annoying Ads You Can’t Turn Off (www.ign.com)

Wow, this is awful. Some people reported that these ads are also very petty and not necessarily related to the game, like apparently Elden Ring shows an ad for a licensed mousepad when you hover over the game now…...

If you’re coming from Windows, something that runs KDE Plasma will feel very familiar.

bread,
@bread@feddit.nl avatar

Hell yeah. I went with Kubuntu because I figured it would be easy for a beginner to troubleshoot eventual issues, given the amount of asked-and-answered Ubuntu queries online.

bread,

Inaccuracies, both historical and caused by a general lack of research. Stolen assets that they have no right to use, some of which could be considered culturally insensitive. Differences in the English and Japanese “apology” letter which make it seem like they’re disregarding the Japanese, or attempting to turn the rest of the world against them. General lack of polish.

You can buy third party joycons that make it a lot more comfortable. The originals are tiny and make my hands hurt.

I really doubt they’ve got an IP lock in place; just set up a Family and invite your siblings and in-laws.

Edit: tried it with a buddy, and it is in fact IP locked; he was unable to join until I set up a VPN for him to connect through. After initial setup, you don’t need the same IP address.

A lot of toothless game bloggers afraid of biting the hand that feeds.

bread,

I’d had this game on my wishlist for quite a while, and I also picked it up during this sale. Among rhythm games that aren’t based around specific peripherals, i find this one of the most tight, well-playing ones, and I’d encourage anyone with even a little interest to check out the demo.

bread,
@bread@feddit.nl avatar

You do hit notes, but not all of them. The “dots” just need to be lined up, whereas “bars” require a button press as well.

bread,

I don’t know whether it is the case, but it could be because those places have fewer English speakers, so they’re more difficult to reach.

Good immersive sims are few and far between. I’m cautiously optimistic.

The potential legislation would be specific to the EU, but that doesn’t really matter; this market is large enough that it would directly affect other markets. Either the games are patched for all territories or others will make the EU-specific build available. One option generates positive press, the other negative, and any difference in cost would be negligible.

There’s also the argument of preserving art.

bread,
@bread@feddit.nl avatar

No chance. There could be a few exceptions, but there’s no shot that would have any amount of widespread adoption.

Braid: Anniversary Edition "sold like dog s***", says creator Jonathan Blow (www.eurogamer.net)

Finally, on 27th July, Blow noted the “whole industry is having a hard time” and then, when asked how many of his development team are working on the compiler for programming language Jai, Blow replied: “None, because we can’t afford to pay anyone because the sales are bad.”...

From a Steam review:

The game was advertised as having 40 new levels, which at first glance is sounds engaging and interesting, until you find out most of those levels are programmer/beta/alpha stages. It’s not entirely new content, but rather going through iterations until you arrive at the level as it is today. While interesting, it does feel disingenuous to advertise this as a new level. When I hear braid has a new level, I think “There’s one more puzzle piece”, but that’s not the case. You are not rewarded with anything in game, but instead receive some occasionally insightful commentary. In total, there are around 14 actual, new puzzles.

bread,
@bread@feddit.nl avatar

Seems like everybody forgot about the HD release. It was good, and the only reason I haven’t played it a third time is because I don’t want to set up the console for it. Hopefully this new version won’t be too bogged down with Ubisoft crap 🤞

bread,
@bread@feddit.nl avatar

Their anti-cheat implementation could definitely use some work. Either that, or just give players the option to disable chromatic aberration, use ultrawide etc. I played the entire game offline, with the exception of a few specific spots. Sucks.

bread,
@bread@feddit.nl avatar

Not paying much attention to early access titles didn’t pay off here. I was unaware of the game until today, and would like to play it, but the dealbreaker is the price; I would pay what they were charging during early access, but not the current price. Guess I’m waiting for a sale, though that means I’ll very likely just forget it exists again.

bread,
@bread@feddit.nl avatar

Without being able to try a demo, that price is more than I’m willing to pay for this, yes.

bread,
@bread@feddit.nl avatar

I have not, no. I don’t typically open the store page unless I have a specific goal in mind, in which case I do my business directly, and then leave the page.

bread,
@bread@feddit.nl avatar

Appreciate it. I actually found that out earlier today, and I gave it a shot. Tried it for a bit and uninstalled it, but I now know for sure that I would pay $10-15 for it, and no more.

bread,
@bread@feddit.nl avatar

I’m sure there are many who share that sentiment. I tend to forget games even exist if they’re Epic exclusive.
