Turns out every game sounds bad if you purposefully describe it badly.

agressivelyPassive,

I mean, this is the essence of 95% of GTA missions. Just like 95% of RPG missions are a variation of clear dungeon, kill boss, retrieve item.

Lmaydev,

The key is making the dungeon/boss fun. The quests are just to lead you through the content.

If you don’t like fighting through dungeons and fighting bosses then the game may not be for you.

Like with GTA getting to places needs to be enjoyable.

ech,

And taking out 99% of the rest of the game built around the basic skeleton structure makes it sound bleak and boring.

PeriodicallyPedantic,

“clear dungeons, kill boss, retrieve item” is just “go from a to b, kill x at b, go from b to c”

fidodo,

Platformers are just running and jumping towards the right and repeating.

Alexstarfire,

Old school ones. Anything half modern lets you go left as well.

fidodo,

But the goal is always to the right (counting metroidvanias as their own genre)

Alexstarfire,

Not really. Super Meat Boy is a platformer and definitely isn’t always to the right.

DacoTaco,
@DacoTaco@lemmy.world avatar

Same thing with i want to be that guy

funkless_eck,

super metroid final boss is left

Honytawk,

Super Mario’s boss is right.

Both sides are equally bad.

Pretty sure Minecraft was the most profitable game of all time.

And you can be that reductive for pretty much all games. Run right and jump on mushrooms. Watch shapes rotate and fall. Punch cubes. Three of the other most profitable games of all time.

ech,

Minecraft is the highest selling game (beating out GTA V by 110 million units sold source), but it’s not the most profitable. GTA does have it beat there ($9.9 billion vs $3.3 billion). Though CoD has them both beat at $31 billion (source).

havokdj,

CoD as a FRANCHISE beats them both, but you have to keep in mind that metric for GTA V and Minecraft are indeed, for single video games.

ech,

That’s true (to be even more precise, the GTA metric is also for the franchise…which GTAV makes up $8.5 billion of >.>). How about Candy Crush at $20 billion?

  • Rozz,

    So instead you like going on a mission, getting distracted and killing a bunch of people/ghouls/irradiated creatures and managing inventory ( I do too).

    I love leatherman stuff but I just know, myself, i’m gonna leave it on site one day. I haven’t seen the rebar before it’s really nice.

    fujiwood,

    Leaving behind a tool is never a good day. Especially when you don’t notice untill the next time you need it!

    sangriaferret, do edc w Multitool

    I just got this exact one. I had to oil it up a bit because it was really stiff but now it works great. I ditched the huge sheath it came with and bought the og leather one on ebay. I wear it on my belt and it’s so compact that i hardly notice that it’s there.

    9/10: would buy again but I’ll probably never have to.

    fujiwood,
    @fujiwood@lemmy.world avatar

    I had the same problem. The oxide makes it gritty and stiff so I also added oil. Luckily, just by using it over time most of the moving parts are smooth. I agree that I’d probably also buy it again. It fits my main needs perfectly.

    If you eventually buy another you should look at the Knifeless Rebar. You lose the blade, which you carry separately, but gain scissors.

    fujiwood,
    @fujiwood@lemmy.world avatar

    Honestly, that’s an interesting idea. I don’t really like collecting but if I ever had to buy another one that could be an option.

    Curious_Canid,
    @Curious_Canid@lemmy.ca avatar

    I always carry at least one good knife too. I’ve been pleased with the Knifeless Rebar as a companion tool.

    My main multitool these days is a Leatherman Free P4, but I replaced both blades with other third-party tools (from ZapWizard).

    Nogami,

    What is the quality of the 3rd party tools like? I’d be interested in the scalpel holder and the bit holder. I don’t need the Free P4 saw ever so replacing it would be just fine.

    Curious_Canid,
    @Curious_Canid@lemmy.ca avatar

    The tools are 3D printed in metal. The designs are excellent and the tools work quite well. I’ve been using them for at least six months and haven’t had any problems.

    I got the bit holder, the T-Shank saw blade holder, and the scalpel holder. They more than make up for what they replaced, except for the blades. Since I always carry both a plain edge and a serrated blade, it’s all a trade up.

    ZapWizard was also very helpful.

    merde, do edc w Multitool

    why did you choose rebar over wave?

    fujiwood,
    @fujiwood@lemmy.world avatar

    The biggest reason was form factor then price. I wanted something that could fit my pocket comfortably. I already have a dedicated pocket knife and screw driver so while it would be nice to have better options those weren’t too much of a concern.

    I even have a hard time killing the nazi dogs in Wolfenstein. It’s not his fault he’s a nazi dog. He’s just trying to be a good boy, and his owner is a fucking nazi.

    saltesc,

    Just pretend it’s a tranq gun and once the mission’s done, they’re collected by dog behavioural therapists to undo the brainwashing and, in time, be collected by a family that will show them what it is to love and be loved.

    Pelicanen,

    I want to note that the dogs aren’t actually nazis, they don’t have an ideology, they just want to be good boys.

    Divinity 2: Original Sin is a wonderful game with an engaging combat system, great exploration, and an intriguing story with fun and memorable characters.

    I never finished the prologue because the game forced me to fight the cute doggo. After telling me its name and asking me to find it.

    I can’t.

    WarmSoda,

    You don’t have to kill it. After the first round the entire map will be engulfed in flames and poison anyways.

    Gnarish,

    You do have the option to save it if you have the red rubber ball…though I guess there is that one dog in the cage in the next room so…

    Aielman15,
    @Aielman15@lemmy.world avatar

    You can’t save the dog. You can only convince it not to attack you, but (a) the dialogue doesn’t trigger if you progress too much before talking to it, (b) the dog and its pack turn hostile on you if you proceed with the game. The only option you have is basically to ignore them, and it’s too sad for me :(

    Not in souls games, those little shits are the worst.

    dditty,

    Came here to say this as well. And often there’re two dogs at the same time that stagger you repeatedly. I love gank

    Boingboing,

    Exactly. Fromsoft dogs can burn in the darkest pits of hell for eternity.

    What’s your most hated version? For me it’s the bloodborne dogs and those big mini boss dogs in ds3.

    philoko,

    Probably Bloodborne just because I feel like it had the most dogs and they were always in the worst places.

    TwoBeeSan,

    That cemetery entrance especially.

    While everything you said is valid (and I may or may not have done that), I legitimately enjoy the ripping process.

    teawrecks,

    I don’t know what the rules of this community are regarding piracy or DRM, but I think backing your content up is generally protected, while sharing the content or encouraging people to copy something illegally is possibly not allowed.

    I actually did manage to rip it, but I was taking a big risk doing that. I’m not using that disc anymore after that.

    Revan343,

    I was gonna say, I’d probably apply some glue to the cracked area, then spin it up one last time to rip it.
