It’s very possible to defeat the dragon. I can do it pretty regularly after a day of heavy playing. Getting the achievements is tougher. And I still haven’t gotten a clean wipe yet (I’ve been 1 tile away twice though)
Finally got my first full clear this morning, and I’ve gotten 2 more since then. I’ve now gotten all of the achievements and I just completed a 2 stamp game!
I did it on my eigth or ninth try. I lost several times due to stupid mistakes, clicking on a mine when I forgot that there was a 1xx clue next to it, seeing only that xx was small.
Have you paid attention to the patterns visible when the game ends? The purple slimes + wizard are really helpful to locate. I also generally tried to avoid using the walls since it seems like they don’t always give as many points as they take to kill. I also played on an earlier version, it might have been easier.
My point is Windows is an ecosystem enabling totalitarian regimes and exposes all user privacy to corporations. Developing anything for Windows-only strengthens that ecosystem and is thereby anti-humanity, antidemocratic and just overall an awful decision.
I don’t disagree with you. But don’t you think there’s a component of it that’s like, “Hey I want to both 1) release a game and 2) put food on table”? Since 99% of players are on Windows, actually doing both kind of necessitates building for Windows first.
As Linux gamers I think we should keep going in the direction we’ve been and making it easier and easier for devs to port to Linux or run their games through Proton and so forth. It’s been amazing and my time as a player has been so good in the last couple years. If we keep showing that, more players will come over and the userbase will grow. I’ve heard from plenty of others who have ditched Windows, because gaming was their last holdout.
The big AAA publishers aren’t struggling for basic needs. We can make demands of them. But the small inside devs? Help 'em out where you can.
It used to be a legitimate choice to publish for Windows. Even when Microsoft started trying to force every private file into the cloud, I wouldn’t have chosen such drastic words. But with the fall of the divided states of america to an authoritarian regime of rapist / pedo billionaires, if you still develop for Windows, where do you draw the line? Gas chambers? And my objection to Windows is not because of Microsoft. It’s because of being the government system, that the totalitarian government has its hands on all kinds of backdoors and will use them to sabotage democracies whereever they can.
(fuck nazis, but) bro you are 10000% too deep into this. It’s just an operating system. You might as well boycott paper because they use a lot of that in the white house too
Also I need to use Windows anyway for work so it’s going to be dual booted anyway and if it’s going to be dual booted anyway then the entire “supporting them” argument is irrelevant.
Also right-wing fascists developed Lemmy, so a little bit of worldview consistency would be nice
Its possible to link to specific comments on lemmy
In this case its not important since there are little comments, but it leaves no space for confusion and is easy(especially considering you copied the text for another reply)
I’ve been a Linux user for over a decade. Do you just not know that Proton and WINE exist? They work extremely well nowadays. It’s not like it was 10 years ago before DXVK released.
As always, @Road_Warrior_10 got the mods express authorization to promote his game as soon as his post are not meme and he does not excessively promote his game (aka spam it). One or two post a month are fine, as long as they are not direct link to his game with the text being copy-pasted from the Steam page.
The blatant ads there were getting insane though. I love how you are sharing your well earned recognition, but many times on Reddit it was, “My daughter died of cancer three years ago and I quit my job and used coding as therapy, three years later, I have my parting gift inspired by her love of turtles ready to share with the world!”
Insert half-baked $5 game made in a few weeks
It was so obvious they were creating fictions to push shovelware.
Rule 3 is about “excessive” self-promotion. Self-promotion is allowed, spamming is not.
I understand it isn’t verry clear (I’m working on that), but as a mod, I usually do not remove if the following conditions are met :
OP do not spam his game, once every 2 weeks is fine, once every two day is not.
OP post objective is to spark a constructive discussion around said game. Good post forms are :
A video trailer that accurently depict gameplay (to filter those low-effort games whose trailers are 100% cinematics)
A text post that talk about the game without being just a steam description.
OP ask for mods permission to advertise his game. @Road_Warrior_10 (sorry for the ping 😋) didn’t at first, got removed, but was nice enough to ask the mod about it, thank to what we found this arrangement.
OP engages in the conversations. Those 1 day account that post their games, never to be seen again, will be removed without mercy.
All those implicit rules helps to keep this community free of advertisements for low-effort cash-grab games, and preserve everyone enjoyment of this community.
I definitely want to see this version of self promotion encouraged. I think it’s good and healthy for this community to be a place where creators can discuss cool projects, engage with their fans and solicit feedback, as long as they’re doing so in a way that respects the health of the community. I think the accommodations you’ve chosen to make / demand here are very reasonable.
Yeah I mean it’s why I’m here. I’m much more interested in finding out about indie games then AAA games, if only because I probably already know about the AAA games. Especially because they’re apparently AAAA these days, and presumably some of that budget includes advertising.
You’re mostly here to self promote from what I can tell. It shows in your post history and the fact that you though it’d be more important to link to Steam and not the article itself.
It becomes a problem once others see this is permissible. It’s not that much now but once everyone realises they can put ads here for free how do you imagine it goes from there?
Well, I post every few months when I have something new and interesting to show. This community in general has been very friendly and like being part of it.
And so they bloody well should be! How the fuck else are we going to find out about cool, unique indie projects instead of mass produced corporate slop?
Independent creators should absolutely be encouraged to self promote in communities like this, or else what the fuck are we doing here? Just shilling for Activision?
I want to learn about it either through an independent journalist or from a space dedicated to self promotion. Small developers are not saints and ads are poison, haven’t we all learnt?
Maybe unpopular opinion, but USUM is my favorite Pokemon game. The graphics were great and fitting, and it had a nice cozy feel with a banger OST.
Going from that to SwSh broke my heart. I literally just wanted a less pixelated USUM and instead they „evolved“ to that weird plastic/clay look like so many other Nintendo-close franchises…
I‘d say I‘m excited for an USUM remake in the future, but I don‘t think they‘d go with the vibrant and clean anime look anymore, and that‘d be over half my excitement gone.
USUM feels like the franchises often forgotten title i feel like. I really enjoyed the OGs, and though the whole Ultra Beast thing in USUM doesn’t really interest me, it is nice to have more content. I agree with the graphics and Soundtrack too, tropical things don’t really do it for me, but Sun and Moon i really enjoyed the OST for
