Good luck finishing it up and redoing that level on CE! Note that the pelican (pictured in this post) is the vehicle that is typically used to transport marines. You were driving a falcon.

There is an easter egg on that level that lets you drive a pelican, though!

Somehow i managed to cheese the Halo CE one. What i think happened was that the conditions to check are just checking if the level is beat with Anti-Cheat on, and then just checking what the highest difficulty done is (with anti-cheat not included in the equation). I recently have been playing with one of my younger siblings through the entire Master Chief Saga and we’ve made it through CE and half of 2, so i’m assuming that ticked the boxes for Condition 1. So as of today my Halo MCC service record says i have played through the entirety of it on legendary!

Damn on the Falcon though. I have have just recently started being able to tell ghosts and banshees apart. Me and my friend had to come with a whole ass mnemonic device for it (“ghost goes on ground”). I’ll definitely have to go back and look at the Pelican Easter egg though. Halo has had some of my favorite Easter Eggs to date.

Dauntless, one of Epic’s first exclusives is shutting down on May 29th. An (ironic) post about which was shared here on Steam, if you want to see it

I am a bit sad for what could have been. But I am not surprised at all.

The game basically always stagnated and content came way to slow. Cosmetics and the battle pass were updated regularly though. Anyway since the game was dying, they brought an “big rework” and brought the game, previously only available on Epic, to Steam.

The big rework changed most of the game into a grindfest/paywall, especially for new players. Old players were shafted as in weapons, builds, armour they spend time grinding for was removed from them to enable a “fresh start”.

That obviously did not turn out well with new and old players. And now they are going to the live service game graveyard. Anyway fuck Phoenix Labs (and more specifically Forte Labs, a bunch of cryptocurrency twats who bought the former studio), another company blacklisted and I will never buy anything from again.

This was a good read, thank you for doing this!

As far as the shutdown of the Epic game Dauntless, was any reason given for the shutdown?

Thank you so much!

It was bought by a crypto company that pushed aggressive monetization, and fired most of the original staff.

Constant nerfs to the original gameplay, invalidating months of users’ grind by removing (‘improving’) core mechanics.

This is why the popularity dropped, but as to their official announcement, it was very short on details. Just another failed game, sadly.

SourDrink, do games w Emulating PS2 for my Steam Deck, would love any recommendations!

There are two amazing super hero games that I would recommend: Spider-Man 2 and Hulk: Ultimate destruction.

Spider-Man 2 was easily one of my favorite games of all time. This game essentially set the bar for what a Spider-Man game should be.

Hulk: Ultimate Destruction was an open world game where you were the Hulk and did all the Hulk things. I can’t think of a recent game where you play as the green giant.

Ultimate Spider-Man scratched a very similar itch to Spider-Man 2 if you ever want more of that kind of gameplay.

Not a PS2 game, but the PS1 Spiderman games are not to be slept on either.

How is XIII via emulation? Would love to try that on my Steam Deck.

That’s what this image is from! PCSX2 via the configurator. I use RetroDECK on my Steam Deck.

It runs perfectly! Absolutely perfect. I also use some HD texture packs, replacing the vanilla textures to make it look extra fancy :)

If you’re a fan of the anime, the .Hack// games hold up pretty well. There’s a little OVA that is included with each game to give more story.

Kitathalla,

I was coming here to say this. For being a ‘game within a game’ and on the PS2, they made such compelling gameplay to go with the story.

Gauntlet: Dark Legacy is great classic fun

I fucking love Gauntlet Dark Legacy, though if the Steam Deck is capable of Xbox emulation that’s my preferred version since you can save powerups for when you need them.

Xraygoggles, (edited ) do games w Playing Dragonsweeper because of Ars' article. Did I have any way out of this without guessing?

Next to the dragon you have 216 and you know that the two squares above it, one is a mine and the other is a 3. This leaves one remaining square around the dragon that you know what it has to be by process of elimination because you haven’t seen it yet.

!the egg is enough to level and then away you go!<
