Has the potential to be very cool! What might be sad is that many horror games now evoke the trope of “They move when you’re not looking”. Game development takes a long time, so I can guess this was not an obvious trend when you started on it. But there should still be ways to differentiate your work.
For anyone wanting to relive the minecraft 7th gen console experience on PC, I suggest you give the Legacy4J mod a try, specially with the Re-Console Modpack. I had lots of fun revisiting the old tutorial worlds
I’m pretty sure the design intent was to make your first level of defense learning mechanics and using the dodge roll. If you can do that consistently you can just pump damage and speed, which is what everyone wants to do anyway.
It’s always weird hearing for the first time about a game that’s been super popular overseas for 28 years.
Would love to try Naheulbeuk (many youth memories of the audio adventure) but reluctant to install yet another app/launcher, especially from Amazon (some people are trying to get a boycott going since yesterday). The first game was really cool apparently
Technically, you’re allowed to make copies for personal use unless doing so requires bypassing DRM, encryption, or some other lockout mechanism.
Emulation is still not piracy and neither is making a personal backup, but if making that backup requires anything more than a standard disc drive or a cart reader then it is a DMCA violation.
lets say you have spend 10 years making a game. and you put it on steam for $10. but wait. you are making $0 dollars because everyone is just pirating it, and then demanding you make a second one.
The reality is that Nintendo removed your ability to buy those old games for $10, because they’d rather rent you those games forever on their subscription service. If they were on Steam for $10, I’d have bought those old ROMs.
360 was originally how i played growing up until my Launch Model 360 Red Ringed. Me and my Sister would stay up for hours building the stupidest shit. Before we knew it, time had gone by and it was 3 in the morning
Time really does fly. Enjoy the old Minecraft. There’s a certain charm of the older versions. It’s simplistic, not overwhelming with the amount of new blocks and monsters and knowledge needed.
I love that this is possible. I wonder if something is possible for Project 06. I’ve heard it fixes a lot of the game and makes it playable. Dunno if they can help with the story though.
Now this has been done, the team have made the tools available to learn from. I’ve seen a lot of users in forums talking about how they’re planning to tackle other games from the same gen of gaming, so…I’d say given some time we’ll have a good chance of a lot of games getting the same treatment!!!
I keep hearing that Reach wasn’t very popular on launch and I just don’t get how. It’s a perfect Halo game. To be honest. If Halo had to end. I think Reach would have been the perfect way to do it.
I think a lot of it is that it’s direction was a bit different. Halo was built on basically immortal Master Chief. Reach had Spartan 3s, which weren’t as “Master Chief”-y, and we see every one of em die on screen as part of the story. That is a pretty stark contrast to Chief never dying. Additionally, if IIRC, the multiplayer was meh, and multiplayer was a huuuuge deal at that time. The story was great (even despite what people said about it at the time) but the multiplayer didn’t carry the game, so it was generally a “play the story, go back to Halo 3” kinda game.
