For older consoles I usually stick to RPGs. Resident evil is okay once you get used to the shit controls. But final fantasys, xenogears, metal gear is good, jet moto, Gran Turismo 2…
I have an attention span of a 2 year old, so I never really finish games. But that one of the few to hold my attention all the way through. Even if I initially hates the movement and controls at first since I had expected a FFVII style game
Xenogears is the best game, or at least JRPG, I ever played and I played over 40 JRPGs from the 8bit era to the modern era. There might be a better JRPG out there but I haven’t played it yet.
The only reason I completed it was because I wanted to see the end, but by the end I hated the game so much I can’t play the entire genre anymore without almost physical pain… The mechanics of random battle and grind cause my spirit to flag and my will to drain, now no matter how good the story of the game is I just can’t.
Similar to how the market works here in Iraq. They package refurbished consoles with new boxes and often 3rd party controllers. A ps1 with two controllers and a usb flash drive full of random roms goes for around 50,000 IQD which is about 35$.
They don’t, I’ve only seen Sony consoles repackaged, basically because they are well known to most consumers. When it comes to Nintendo, they sell cheap knockoffs that come with 1000 games or something pre-installed.
What I don’t understand is why games look prettier but things like NPC AI (which is really path-finding and decision trees, not actual AI), interactivity of the game world, destructability of game objects - all those things are objectively worse than they have been in a game of 10-15 years ago (with some exceptions like RDR2).
How can a game like Starfield still have all the Bethesda jank but now the NPCs lack any kind of daily routine?
Most enemies in modern shooters barely know how to flank, compare that to something like F.E.A.R. which came out in 2006!
I keep hearing that Reach wasn’t very popular on launch and I just don’t get how. It’s a perfect Halo game. To be honest. If Halo had to end. I think Reach would have been the perfect way to do it.
I think a lot of it is that it’s direction was a bit different. Halo was built on basically immortal Master Chief. Reach had Spartan 3s, which weren’t as “Master Chief”-y, and we see every one of em die on screen as part of the story. That is a pretty stark contrast to Chief never dying. Additionally, if IIRC, the multiplayer was meh, and multiplayer was a huuuuge deal at that time. The story was great (even despite what people said about it at the time) but the multiplayer didn’t carry the game, so it was generally a “play the story, go back to Halo 3” kinda game.
I love that this is possible. I wonder if something is possible for Project 06. I’ve heard it fixes a lot of the game and makes it playable. Dunno if they can help with the story though.
Now this has been done, the team have made the tools available to learn from. I’ve seen a lot of users in forums talking about how they’re planning to tackle other games from the same gen of gaming, so…I’d say given some time we’ll have a good chance of a lot of games getting the same treatment!!!
There is nothing to update to. It is a completely different game in the way it’s built from java and bedrock. And after the last update it stopp3d being supported so even if you could update via console as I said you have nowhere to go. Kinda like if you tried updating civ 5 with civ 6 stuff. They are differnet games even though they play the same in concept.
360 was originally how i played growing up until my Launch Model 360 Red Ringed. Me and my Sister would stay up for hours building the stupidest shit. Before we knew it, time had gone by and it was 3 in the morning
Time really does fly. Enjoy the old Minecraft. There’s a certain charm of the older versions. It’s simplistic, not overwhelming with the amount of new blocks and monsters and knowledge needed.
Subset Games rock. Really looking forward to whatever they put out next. It’s been rather quiet from them but they said in an AMA they have several prototypes kicking around. Fingers crossed.
It’s very easy to lose track of time with it. While we were playing splitscreen it felt like it had only been a few hours, but turned out to have been 6
