Another banger update! I can't tell you how convenient it is to have that media preview bug fixed. It was starting to get annoying to randomly have words missing. Are you planning to create an official Kbin category?
Edit: Seems like it's already been made. Here's a link for anyone who hasn't seen it yet.
Well, you confirmed some of my fears. I'm sure I'll still enjoy it when I play it eventually, but the mech game genre has been in starvation mode for a long time and it doesn't seem like AC6 will be able to really scratch that itch.
As a fan of souls games and mech games, I wouldn't be TOO worried. OP is overstating the problem. I sympathize, because this is indeed a different Armored Core, but it's nothing at all like a souls game. It's still a mech game and a good one, but it's not as technically deep as previous AC games while also being dramatically more difficult.
I would say in older AC games having a terrible build vs a great build meant the mission was either literally impossible or braindead easy. In AC6 a terrible build means the mission will be much harder, but still perfectly doable, and having a great build means the mission will run smoother but may still be quite challenging since threats are generally a lot more deadly than they were in previous titles.
I can totally understand how that can kill the vibe for someone who wants to seek victory in the build screen and enjoy the rewarding power fantasy during the mission, but it's still a great mech game with a lot of meaningful variety.
Proof of this is that while, yes, AC purists are upset that this game is more action-y, there are just as many Souls fans who are mad that the mech building game they bought is - get this - actually a mech game and not just Robo Souls.
Not so much a game recommendation but a platform, but if you don’t already have a Nintendo switch, it might suit your style.
It lets you suspend any game at whatever point by just going to the Home Screen. You can then put down the switch and leave it for days or even weeks at a time, and then you can just turn the switch back on and pick up exactly where you left off in like 5 seconds.
I’ve been playing heaps of the new Zelda game, whenever I get a spare moment, but also if Nintendo games aren’t your style, nowadays there’s quite a good library of other games for the switch now.
Obviously the suspend feature doesn’t work for multiplayer games though, and to be honest I’ve found multiplayer in general doesn’t work as well on switch as other platforms, but it really is great for quick sessions of single-player games.
Don’t even have to go to the home screen! You can just press the power button or long press the home button to access the Sleep option in the quick menu. When you resume, it will default to resuming in the game rather resuming to the home screen!
Getting my TotK on with this right now despite being busy
"This week, I also refreshed the project's code, and it seems like I'm slowly getting back on track regarding health matters."
I am glad you are getting better.
I will have to have a look into helping with moderation though I take it site moderation is at the instance level unless you mean for magazines?
Glad to hear it boss man.
However, you've got to remember that you're the boss man. You have to delegate.
You shouldn't be clearing spam. You have people for that.
I spend time doing a bunch of reports to you on pill pushers and spam links. I could just as easily be spending my time banning those usernames, resulting in faster responses and better experience for everyone.
I think most people on the site would say your time is spent on doing admin stuff. Not mod spam stuff.
Ernest! So sorry to hear about the struggles. Happy you responded, I'll stick around :)
Do consider adding more devs to the team! Not good that you are feeling pressure from dorks like us just because you need some time for yourself (or are working on things less visibly)
I'd volunteer, but I'm already burdened with personal projects and the horribly underpaid work in Hungary's own "public work program" (pays half of minimum wage for an 8 hour job), so currently I cannot. That being said, if there ever were some paid opportunity (even part-time at minimum wage), I could finally say goodbye to my current job.
Today, I'm going for a minor procedure at the hospital, and I won't be available for the next 2-4 days. When I return, I'll push all the corrections and fixes I've been working on and present plans for the near future. In the meantime, I'm making sure that the instance operates smoothly.
It's definitely not ideal at all currently. You've already found out how to do it currently, but I'd like to point you towards some alternatives that currently exist to make this easier until ernest adds something official.
Here's the userscripts I know of, each approaches the task a bit differently:
Improved Channel Select Menu adds your subscriptions and collections to the select channel menu. It's the one with the 3 dots and lines next to your username. This one is the only one that currently supports collections I think.
Floating Subs List adds a new (collapsible) sidebar to the left which contains your subscribed magazines.
Choose whichever sounds like more your thing, or try each and go with which works best for you.
If you're not familiar with userscripts: just get yourself either Greasemonkey, Tampermonkey, or Violentmonkey from your browser's extension/addon store, then head to the script's greasyfork page (I linked you to them above) and click the big green button. For KES it's a bit special but just as simple, just use this link, it should bring up an installation page. After installing KES, you're looking for a wrench next to the user button to access its options and turn the feature on.
