I don’t know if anyone else here read the books as kids, but I’m hopeful they’re leaning more into the lore of D’ni, which the older games were always (imo) too slow and puzzle-focused to deliver well.
What I learned very quickly playing Myst VR is that it’s hard to take notes, making the puzzles frustratingly difficult. Exploring is fun and the graphics are great, but that’s not the point of the game.

seriously, though, i’d buy it right now if i could. this game was one of my all-time favorites, and probably my favorite Myst game (i’ve played them all multiple times). But, holy shit, was it hard! possibly the most difficult of them all.
I didn’t understand it the first time I played it (I was quite young). But I loved the music, the environment, the aesthetics, the architecture.
If you like Myst, but found Firmament missed the mark (I feel like it was “follow the wire” and “look for hard to see thing” instead of myst puzzles of “information way before you need it”, or “puzzles way before you have information”), check out Quern: Undying Thought.
It nails the Myst experience, imo.
Not terribly surprised they are shutting down, but I am a little shocked that it is happening less than a week after the game released. I kind of expected them to at least attempt the old "we're sorry you are disappointed and are working to fix the game" routine before bolting. Then again judging from all the articles and videos it doesn't really look like there was any way to fix it or even really bring it close to the game they promised they were going to release.
Very expected that they’d shut down soon after launch, after all the coverup they tried (and failed at) to perform. I just didn’t expect that it would be that soon after launch.
In what world is it a financial failure? Didn’t they just make an asset flip and potentially made millions of dollars based on player figures? Hard to imagine 100% of people refunded…
This is actually hilarious. Never trusted them for a minute, but didn’t expect the rugpull to happen after just a few days. Wonder if Steam will refund everyone.
The performance category feels like they purposely limited it to one performance per game, otherwise we'd have seen multiple reps from Baldur's Gate 3. The performance for Astarion was great, but I could easily see the nod going to Karlach or the narrator as well. And no disrespect to Idris Elba, but what he had to work with in Phantom Liberty (enjoyable as it was) doesn't hold a candle to Karlach; I might even say that another actor in Phantom Liberty put on a better performance than Elba did, again just because she had better material to work with.
Also, this is the first time the fighting game category nominees didn't make me angry. Usually they omit some notable game that belongs in the category and include a game or two that clearly don't belong there.
