Norgur, do games w Nintendo Switch emulators Yuzu and Ryujinx can already run Red Dead Redemption on PC

Yeah but... isn't that a hollow victory? I mean... every PC that can run RDR on Yuzu can... you know... run RDR natively, right?

collectioncard,

Red dead redemption never received a pc port.

Norgur,

oh... my bad. It has now I guess.

collectioncard,

Yeah… I really wish it did though. Kinda surprised that they decided not to port it alongside the switch and ps4.

Pwnmode,

They still didn’t release this port on PC. Unfortunately.

forgotaboutlaye,

Also Xenia Canary is a much better expierience than emulatoing Switch

ziggurism,
@ziggurism@lemmy.world avatar

Is that a ps3 emulator?

thewitchslayer,

Xenia is Xbox 360. RPCS3 is PS3. And that can run it too, just not super well last I knew

nodiet,

What makes you say that? Last time I checked (about a year ago), yuzu and ryujinx were way more performant and fewer bugs in the emulated titles compared to Xenia (Canary). Have there been such big improvements to Xenia since?

Poopfeast420, do games w Does the NVIDIA App cripple your PC gaming performance? (Answer: no it does not)
@Poopfeast420@discuss.tchncs.de avatar

NVIDIA bad and all that, but people are running the overlay, Shadowplay, filters, and whatnot and are shocked, that their performance is lower.

Carighan,
@Carighan@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah I thought the same, of course this all costs performance.

thermal_shock,

it’s like people who complain they paid for 1gb up/down, but only get 950mbps at speedtest.net. of course some of it is lost in translation and data routing and hardware usage. every link between you and the end is going to reduce speed a bit.

your 250hp engine loses some where the wheels touch the asphalt too.

murmelade, do games w Does the NVIDIA App cripple your PC gaming performance? (Answer: no it does not)

The game filters (postprocessing) didn’t work for me so I reinstalled GeforceNow. It works there without even logging in.

I hope they changed the weird combat system. I know people do like it, but it’s the reason I didn’t end up buying it after playing the full version demo

Hubi,
@Hubi@feddit.org avatar

I enjoyed the combat system overall but it got very tedious and unfair if you got attacked by more than two people at the same time. I suppose it’s realistic, but it wasn’t really fun when you had to “lock on” to multiple enemies.

antaymonkey,

I never was able to get the combat system at all. I resorted to bow and arrow for the entire game.

Hubi,
@Hubi@feddit.org avatar

It takes a bit to get used to. The first thing I do on a new playthrough is go to train with Bernard right away until my sword skill is high enough. You can forget using the sword before that, it’s a night-and-day difference. Once you get to the point where you’re running around with a set of full armor, you’re basically human tank. I actually killed the first boss in one hit once lol.

SupraMario,

I think this was a lot of people’s hangups, they expected a hack and slash, that leveled with you, instead they got a peasant for a main character who didn’t know how to handle a weapon at all without actually training. Once you figured out how to train, it got a lot easier to fight.

AFC1886VCC,

Same experience as me! The power creep in KCD is hilarious. With good armour and a handful of perks unlocked, combat is a piece of cake and you can just spam parries, clinch, and headcracking.

For me that’s the real flaw with the games combat system. It gets way too easy later on. The directional swings, combos, and watching your opponents moves carefully becomes redundant.

My favorite game of all time. I can’t wait to try this out.

SenorBolsa, (edited ) do gaming w Bethesda claims that the Intel ARC GPUs do not meet Starfield's PC minimum requirements
@SenorBolsa@beehaw.org avatar

Yup, it’s not in the specs that it supports intel graphics.

These days it’s expected that any directX/Vulkan supporting card can run just about anything with varying levels of performance, back in the day it was very very specific what a 3d game engine supported. If your card wasn’t on the list it wasn’t going to run outside of software mode unless the newer version of that card had backwards compatibility features. Also later on you had to worry about very specific shader features and direct x features being supported to even get the game to look right.

Just a bit interesting how times change. They definitely should have worked with intel a bit to get it to work, at least given them a copy with some time for them to work out their drivers to support it.

PunchingWood, do games w Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 will NOT have Denuvo on PC

Great, now I hope it will actually be well optimised though. I tried the first game again recently, but the performance in the main town is abysmal on high-end hardware.

So it’s not just me. I thought they made it better eventually, seems I was too optimistic.

DaSaw, do gaming w Bethesda claims that the Intel ARC GPUs do not meet Starfield's PC minimum requirements

I don’t know much about specs. I just find it fascinating that people are actually defending Bethesda in this post. Where’s the standard anti-Bethesda fandumb pile on?

lustyargonian,

On reddit lol

DaSaw,

I’ve probably seen it here more than on Reddit, but that’s because I spend more time in the general gaming community here, while on Reddit I was in the fan community specifically… particularly teslore, where “Duh, TES lore is stupid and random” doesn’t get much traction.

conciselyverbose,

The problem is that no one actually really follows the specs (or the specs don't define everything). So you can't just build to the spec and have your game work. You have to know all the ways the different hardware manufacturers cheat and adapt your stuff to their drivers.

If intel still has issues in their drivers and implementation, developing to run correctly on their cards isn't trivial at all. It should still mostly work, but it's hard to catch every edge case without experience with how they do things.

rikudou,
@rikudou@lemmings.world avatar

That’s not surprising, I was asking how does the law allow them to do so.

nanoUFO,
@nanoUFO@sh.itjust.works avatar

If they don’t use anything from GTA 5 in their mod I doubt so but high powered lawyers are scary and you don’t need to even have a valid case to sue someone. It’s the same thing nintendo does it’s their ip so they get their lawyers to send out dmca’s and threats and people cave.
