Fluffy_Ruffs, do games w What are some good games worth buying on play store?

Into the Breach is free if you have Netflix. I’m not sure if it’s for purchase otherwise but it’s a ton of fun.

Albbi,

I’ve never had so much fun staring at the screen for minutes on end without doing anything. Calculating my next move. Great game, but definitely not one you can just play mindlessly.

bbigras,

I hate that it’s a Netflix exclusive. Let me buy this. Surely it’s one of the best game out there.

I’m starting TF2. I’m a little intimidated however because so many gaming veterans play that game.

just play casual and maybe choose more casual forward maps (2fort, doublecross, degroot). you can add me :) - same name the one with ronin warrors

OmanMkII,

Yeah I don’t think I’ve ever had a bad game honestly, the worst it gets is when the bots spike again and people start raging

cRazi_man, (edited ) do games w Good game soundtracks?

Super Meat Boy - Ballad of the burning squirrel

Super Meat Boy - Forest Funk

Super Meat Boy - Betus Blues

The composer for Super Meat Boy has done lots of great tracks for Binding of Isaac and Crypt of the Necrodancer too (Danny Baranowsky)

Enter the Gungeon - Abbey or Die

Enter the Gungeon - Behold the Boss Eater

Enter the Gungeon - Boss Battle Beating

Metal Gear solid theme

Nine Sols - Collage

Hades soundtrack (all of it) + if you search for the composer (Darren Korb) then you’ll find loads more great soundtracks he’s done (notably for Bastion).

Hollow Knight soundtrack (all of it + the piano cover version)

Street Fighter 6 - Viator (theme for Ryu + there’s a real cool metal cover that is on YouTube by an indie metal band)

Wipeout HD soundtrack (all of it)

Super Hexagon (all 3 tracks)

Hotline Miami soundtrack

Dead Cells

Lots of people have rightly mentioned FTL

Frank Kelpacki has done tons of great soundtracks across the whole Command and Conquer series and it’s worth searching through.

If you’re into chip tunes, then it is also worth checking out Streets of Rage 2 soundtrack.

In case you haven’t noticed, I’m really into video game instrumentals. If anyone else is interested, there’s a great podcast called Sound of Gaming by BBC radio 3 that is worth going through the back catalogue of episodes.

Tudsamfa,

Super Meat Boy’s OST slaps. I decided to check it out after realizing it was from the same guy that made Crypt of the Necrodancers OST.

I then spent hours trying to figure out where I’ve heard “Hot Damned” before. It was Siivagunner.

drgne, do games w Good game soundtracks?

Maybe try soundtrack from Celeste, Transistor, Gris

Civilization is also an obvious answer that I’m not seeing mentioned. I feel like it’s more manageable than Stellaris, especially older versions (I tend to play IV or V).

Rolando,

Also check out the open-source Freeciv adaptation: www.freeciv.org

SquigglyEmpire, do games w Me and a friend of mine were having a discussion on the holocaust and got banned for mentioning the N word. This is not the first time in games. How come they censor it?

It sounds like you’re referring to the National Socialist German Workers’ Party of WWII infamy. People are probably going to assume something else, FYI.

Don_Dickle,

Nope I wasn't I was refferin to the NAz word. And I will probably get banned for this but just wondering?

threeduck,
@threeduck@aussie.zone avatar

SquigglyEmpire is trying to say that “the N word” typically refers to a derogatory word for black people, not for Nazi.

Video games would probably ban you for saying Nazi because it’s a nasty thing to call someone or be called. It probably isn’t relevant to the game and it’s a topic they’d probably prefer not to have discussed.

Dark Souls Remastered. Just hit the halfway point (Anor Londo), upgraded to Great Scythe +15 and things are starting to look up. Now the toughest opponent I’m encountering is gravity.

Impeccable taste, DS1 Great Scythe has such a fantastic moveset. Is it your first time playing?

eezeebee,
@eezeebee@lemmy.ca avatar

That your first time with Dark Souls? I played it for the first time on that remaster a couple of years back. I remember those goddamn Anor Londo archers being maybe the only thing in the game that pissed me off so much I had to quit and come back. Damn near EVERYTHING in that game feels “tough but fair” e

First time playing DS1, yes!

Coelacanth,
@Coelacanth@feddit.nu avatar

I hope you’re enjoying it, that first blind playthrough is quite magical. First half of DS1 is just a masterclass in level design. No other game has made me so excited to find a shortcut.

First time playing DS1. I’m trying to keep it mostly a blind first playthrough, but I have had to look up help after trying my best and giving up in a few spots - including those archers.

Like how I wandered all the way down to Tomb of Giants extremely early, no lantern drop, no Lordvessel. The Pinwheel fight was so easy that I thought I must be going the right direction.

theangriestbird,

ahaha i think those are the exact two places where i looked things up. did you have a moment where you beat the archers, but then fell off the ledge on accident before you got to the next checkpoint. i did…

Yes, same with every other ledge lol

the short answer as we all know, they are able to sell our data & show more ads, also the publisher’s shareholders want our data

SgtAStrawberry, do games w Unsolvable epic store captcha

Is it one of those click all pictures that contains a buss/bicycle ones. Because I have noticed that some of them after you have clicked all the relevant pictures will give you more pictures to click but there sometimes is a significant wait before the pictures refresh into the new ones, with no indication that there will be more pictures and if you press compleat before the new pictures load it will fail you.

damnedfurry, do gaming w Do you know any singleplayer games that are infinitely replayable?

What you are describing is essentially the roguelike/lite genre, lol. Search up some of that, see if anything looks fun.

ComeHereOrIHookYou, do gaming w Do you know any singleplayer games that are infinitely replayable?

Risk of Rain 2 and Robo Quest are probably up your ally because you like Ultra kill

But if you want to diversify genre, here are some that I would recommend

  • Card Games - Slay the Spire (Its like a card game and rogue like combined)
  • Rogue Like - Hades is currently one of the top tiers in rogue like dungeon crawler
  • RPG - Baldurs Gate 3, even if you end up finishing the game, how you ended up finishing it is what makes it so replayable. Each character has their own stories for you to uncover. Larian’s other gem is Divinity Original Sin 2 too
  • Sandbox Games - Minecraft of Terraria
  • Arcade - Most arcade games are highly replayable because thats their whole selling point. Currently I am back to playing Temptest 4000
  • Hack n Slash - Grimdawn, nuff said

Hades.

And009,

Should be higher up, the best game designed to be replayed until the end of time.

For rpg games, something like mass effect or Baldurs Gate could be the one

PraiseTheSoup,

I basically 100%ed Hades over a span of 2 weeks and never touched it again. Great game, but there is little reason to continue playing when you’ve unlocked everything.

And009,

Nice, I’ve done over 100 runs and haven’t completed the story yet

AdamBomb, do gaming w Do you know any singleplayer games that are infinitely replayable?

Anything with procedurally generated levels, like roguelikes/roguelites. I can personally vouch for the longevity of Slay the Spire, for one specific example.

AceFuzzLord, do gaming w Do you know any singleplayer games that are infinitely replayable?

Closest I can think of to infinitely replayable games are rougelike games like Slay the Spire, Peglin, Shotgun King: The Final Checkmate, Backpack Hero, etcetera, and sandbox games like minecraft (or Minetest if you don’t feel like spending money and/or don’t already have a minecraft account).

Though, with the rougelike games I mentioned, there are upper limits to increasing difficulty levels.
