You can get a port of space cadet pinball from GitHub!

nickwitha_k, do gaming w How to get good at FPS with a controller, coming from a PC gamer?

L2P n00b! /J

In seriousness though, I find the trackpads to be very useful for precision. Unfortunately, you have to build up the skill, like anything else. Work at it over time and you should get there. For practice, really depends on what you want to play. I’d suggest something that has a good system for criticals/headshots. Looks like Aim Lab might work on the deck, so maybe try that?

I am currently playing Stray which doesn’t require fast movement. It’s slightly helping me ease into 3D movements.

nickwitha_k,

Good call. You might try games like Tomb Raider or the first Prince of Persia reboot for movement accuracy.

ETA: Just to be absolutely clear, the “/J” was “jerk” like the old “circlejerk” subs, not serious. You probably know that but I’d rather be sure and not assume as I don’t think being dicks to eachother makes the world a better place.

If you really rely on faster movement than what gyro+classic joystick provides: try gyro+flickstick.

Flickstick does require some game specific tweaking. But it’s the only controller input method my “30 years of playing fps on PC”-riddled brain accepts.

Gubbins is a fun word game, it’s a one time purchase and apparently part of the profits go to charity due to Hank Green investing in it in a creative way.

Imagzle. There are “buy more levels” but there are plenty on the main one. It gives a picture, more or less, abstractly related to something. Art, movie, book, many random things

Sparklite, I don’t know what it looks like purchases-wise, it was free with gamepass and had no in-app purchases when acquired that way. It’s probably one of the newest games I’ll post about. New enough that it was possible to get it with gamepass, lol. The game sort of has a modern retro zelda feel. I don’t think it’s a particularly long game, but it’s certainly enjoyable and pretty casual. I think if it has transactions, reading other reviews it might be like a “purchase the rest of the game” style thing. So basically a free demo that you can then choose if you like the game enough to pay.

royal match has no ads at all, its pretty fun just gotta ignore the microtransactions which is pretty easy to do at least compared to other games

Cringe2793,

I tried playing this but I just suck at it. At higher levels I just get stuck at the same stage for a super long time.

Cosmic Combo, an iOS port of Johan Peitz’ PICO-8 game Cosmic Collapse, is good.

Playing The Finals consistently, and Lorelei and the Laser Eyes. It is such a fun puzzle game, and I have enjoyed many hours playing it.

During the Steam summer sale, I picked up Viewfinder, Riven remaster, and Children of the Sun.

Finally managed to kick my current World of Warcraft addiction, or at least massively cut my time with the Remix mode. I did level a new character yesterday, just to get them to max level, but that was pretty much it. There are a few more I plan to level, but I’ll take my time with those, maybe one a week. XP needed for max level is supposed to be slashed soon, because of the new expansion, so the already short level time should be even shorter.

I’m also done with the Diablo 4 season. I didn’t enjoy playing Minion Necromancer at all, and couldn’t be bothered to grind for a different build. Just like the last few times, I finished the Season Journey, and killed one of the new giga versions of the bosses (Tormented Duriel), although I needed help with that. The next season is supposed to start soon-ish (4-5 weeks or something), so I’ll take a break until then and hopefully choose something I enjoy more.

Went back to Dave the Diver, did just one dive, but didn’t really feel it. My extended break with the game really killed my enthusiasm. I might try again here or there, but who knows. There are so many other games I want to try, this might just be it for Dave.

Started Crab Champions, a roguelike shooter, based on the Crab Rave song (I guess). It’s in Early Access, fun for a couple of hours, but lacks variety, so it can get boring relatively quickly. I’ll wait for some more updates or the full release. This game also has multiplayer, so I gotta convince some of my friends to get it, since that’s always more fun.

Wwwbdd, do gaming w Are there any "Mostly Positive" games on Steam that you really enjoy?

Dark Nights with Poe and Munroe is the only game in my library that came up as mostly positive, and it’s a…mood, for sure

Imagine if a community theatre group made a cheesy suspense/mystery film that ended up feeling like an excuse to dress up sexy. When they finished they sold it to a game studio who chopped up the video, added some quicktime events and shipped it.

Mechanically it’s not great, and it’s not great writing, but when I opened myself up to the silliness of it I enjoyed it

  • I did in the past: Replace .bik intro video file with an “empty” one to skip intros
  • I know of, haven’t used: Change game window to be borderless with Borderless Gaming
  • IIRC I’ve used Cheat Engine, before it was littered with shit, to speed up an awfully slow singleplayer game
  • In Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory (W:ET) I had a whole setup of config scripts for key bindings
  • For W:ET server hosting I put configuration into a deliberate, structured set of files (it’s not necessarily obvious between splitting base game and alternateable mod configuration)
