I’m not even mad that we didn’t get the multiplanetary open world new-tech live-experience cooperative second coming. I’m mad we didn’t even get a simple, short singleplayer experience living off of the charm of the first one.
That’s the thing though; it has most definitely entered Duke Nukem Forever / No Man’s Sky levels of development hell wherein the result will never be satisfying. The best we can hope for is a Halo Infinite result where it’s “kinda fun” but inevitably comes nowhere near the hype.
I really am dissapointed in current gaming, thought wed have a game in each genre that supported custom content, like ue would let ppl make their own maps/weapons, etc. everquest landmark for mmo worlds, etc.
maybe with desktop tools being so fleshed out well see better in game tools for creation, tho now I use blender and want more games to support mods and custom content.
s@ndbox but it really depends how it goes, they are leaning more towards being a game engine than something like gmod where you can bring stuff over from one world to another, like scifi element hoverboards, etc. to a fantasy world and vice versa.
W najlepszym razie ponure.
Honestly, I kind of miss the idea of what “Life By You” could’ve been, as it had the game designer for The Sims 2 and The Sims 3 behind it. That game could’ve been a return to form and an actual threat to EA’s watered down and extremely pricey Sims Slop. If only the team Rod Humble had assembled were able to gel their concept into a reality, with Paradox’s backing, could’ve created something magical. Alas, it was not to be…I still imagine the potential for player driven storytelling that Life By You was offering!
This one gets me as well, Paradox had a great history of maintaining and upgrading the base game with money made from DLCs, some of which are content/feature related and others are way cheaper and are cosmetics, all of that while providing mod support. And that model would have been awesome in a sims like game.
It would’ve been interesting, given that Rod Humble wanted to create a fully fleshed out base game…The DLC for Life By You likely would’ve been merely outfits, additional hairs made post launch, and possibly furniture/architecture style sets that could be priced at a reasonable rate. Meaning more players would’ve bought it and those funds would be reinvested in the game for more work to be done! The mod support would’ve been nice for those that want it; I often don’t care for mods (Prepare Carefully, for Rimworld is one of the few that I adore). This situation is truly vexing because the Life Sim scene needs a well funded direct competitor to The Sims that isn’t afraid to make a coherent and interesting Simulation game; one that is built with an engine that actual works and in-depth gameplay! The loss of Life By You will irk me for years to come.
I lost hope for that game because they use GenAI to power to create a character, clothing, furniture color/pattern customization. I won’t play a game that utilizes GenAI, as base requirements are increased, GenAI is a security hazard, and it has a damaging effect on the environment. The fact that InZOI requires a constant internet connection as well due to the game’s reliance on GenAI.
it’s not like it’s some chatGPT plagerism factory, it has an AI to generate new assets based on the art already made by the devlopers, to cut down on time. But always online is lame.
GenAI is the line in the sand for me, as that is merely a step towards pushing creatives out of creative fields. While Krafton C-Suite executives may say they get their data directly from preexisting data from devs; I’m not particularly trusting of those who implement GenAI in their games.
I’m going to focus on Paralives and Vivaland as those seem more interesting in my opinion.
So far, I get about 6-8 years out of whatever generation PlayStation controller I get. PS3 controller battery eventually crapped out. PS4 controller got pretty bad stick drift.
Tried an Xbox 360 controller once, it got stick drift after only a year.
Amy recommendations? I’ve been considering getting a new controller, but I use one so rarely. For the longest time I’ve used I think an ancient PS3 controller, or my old Steam Controller (which is great for some things but sucks for others).
While technically true, you will lose the capacitive touch functionality of the sticks (the steam deck knows when your thumbs are touching the sticks) unless you desolder the old thumb caps and resolder them on the new sticks.
Edit: You’re right. It appears newer Hall Effect Sticks for the Steam Deck come with the capacitive caps pre soldered, while the OG Gulikit Sensors required desoldering the original caps and resoldering them on the replacement board. That being said, it was super easy to do, even for my butterfingers that last touched a soldering iron in highschool more than 15 years ago.
Ah ok, so you were even earlier to the Deck modding scene than me, and it has evolved toward being even easier since.
Whew!
I appreciate your pointing this out and explanation, I wouldn’t want to have been unintentionally spreading misinfo.
… Nor would I have wanted to get my own Hall Effect ‘no soldering’ kit and then learned… actually there still is soldering in some other step or on some other component, that the ‘no soldering’ kits actually just mean ‘less soldering’.
I really wanted one of those transparent Atomic Purple shells for mine. Then thought, might as well swap the sticks since it’s already opened up.
Well the transfer into the new shell requires complete disassembly, which was quite bit more involved then I anticipated. The screen is glued to the top half of the shell. Getting a bit impatient, I shattered my screen as I was trying to pry it off. You need to heat the adhesive and remove the screen before it cools. I had done a couple of phone screen repairs in the past, and let me tell you, they use a lot less adhesive and because they are so small, you’ll easily be able to pop it off before the adhesive starts becoming super sticky again. Not so much with the Steam Deck.
Well, the Deck HD (1200p) screen was only like 10€ more than an OEM replacement, so I might as well. (I quite like it, much sharper and more vibrant than the original and FSR can still give you good results in games that can’t hit the resolution, but the battery life did take a small hit).
Long story short, I love my Atomic Purple Steam Deck HD with Hall Effect Sticks, where one cosmetic mod led me to do two hardware upgrades. I don’t regret it, but I doubt I would do it again. I just love how much you can do it.
I was thinking it is weird that the generically named “RPGs” community (and RPGMemes) seems focused entirely on tabletop stuff, but I just noticed it’s literally on an instance dedicated to tabletop games so that explains that…
Co sądzisz o połączeniu studia plus praca? Same studia to lipa totalna aktualnie.
6. Studia pozwalają zdobyć znajomości, rowniezprzez targi pracy. Popatrz, czy uczelnia oferuje jakieś koła naukowe, wsparcie itd. Poczytaj opinie o uczelniach. Napisz posta na mediach społecznościowych uczelni i zapytaj ludzi o opinie o danym kierunku.
POWODZENIA. Na pewno to ogarniesz.
PS.
Wildstar! It was the best playing mmo I’ve ever seen. The platforming was neat, the world was varied and cool, there was player housing with almost endless customisation! I miss that game.
To cancel something is to no longer do something at a future date. If the game was originally planned to exist in a year but no longer does, that meets the definition of cancelled. The OP question is strangely worded - how can you miss a game you were never able to play?
