Nie bardzo rozumiem o co chodzi w twoim poście, ale jeśli chodzi o alternatywy to mamy fediwersum oraz bluesky’a, które można rozpromować szerszemu gronu w celu zmiejszenia efektu sieciowego.
Inside is good, less story heavy and more fascinating world that makes you think. It’s pretty short and maybe not quite what you’re after but as it’s often on sale dirt cheap and like 2 hours long it’s probably worth a look.
You could also look at American Arcadia. I’ve not finished it yet but it’s pretty good so far and fits your bill for side scrolling with story focus.
“Welcome to Arcadia! A 70’s retro-futuristic metropolis where all its citizens enjoy a life of luxury and comfort… unaware that they’re being broadcast live 24/7!”
Seems ironic for a project focused on access and preservation to adopt a closed messaging platform like Discord, that can and does lock people out on a whim.
I guess it might be a concession to reach as many gamers as possible. It’s an unfortunate situation, though. Maybe when we’ve stopped the killing of games, we can turn our attention to freeing ourselves from Discord.
Maybe not exactly what you’re looking for, but I’ve been playing Gloomhaven Co-op recently. Dungeon delver, turn based strategy with RPG elements and an interesting mechanic for managing your attacks and movement through an encounter.
If you like ITB, check out their other game FTL…and while you’re at it, check out Cobalt Core which was one of my favorite games of last year (even though it’s from 2023)
I’ll recommend Frostpunk and Frostpunk 2, too, but they’re a different kind of strategy to what you’ve posted.
I don’t track or rank joy like that, but discovering the dark world in The Legend of Zelda a Link to the Past is definitely up there. Just realising the world had this whole extra dimension to it.
I still love dimensionality / hidden depth in games.
