What a funky new font you got there, pretty hard to read the title. It's like the letters are shuffling around like SIBYL or PLOY or US BIO something.

Anyway, that game doesn't exist. I would know, I played all the arcade games they had in the area when I was a kid. It was pretty fun and harmless until they took it away. Never seen one. The game didn't even start yet.

What a fun hoax it was. They will be very amused.

It’s so bite sized yet moreish.

ethd, do gaming w Let's discuss: Tetris

Tetris Worlds on PC was one of my favorites — A surreal, story-based Tetris with interesting twists on the gameplay, and the first Guideline Tetris game, setting in stone what “official” Tetris would look and act like even now. (Some love that, some hate it, I’m nowhere near a high enough level player to care either way and just like a cool looking Tetris game.)

I don’t remember when I played it first, but it always fascinated me. Just recently I’ve set up Lemuroid on my phone to play the SNES Tetris version from Tetris & Dr. Mario. It’s my favorite version of the game. Sometimes I watch the championships that are broadcasted by Classic Tetris. I find it fascinating that a game this old still has a fanbase this big. Love Tetris.

I’m a big fan of their The Walking Dead games. For a long time I thought the final season would never be finished, but I think it was like a couple years later and it was bought out and finished, and miraculously it was actually good too.

I 100% amazing mirror several times on GBA. Loved that device and many games it had. I want a modern pocket emulator GB device but can’t justify it since I already have a Steam deck. Or a phone. I guess nostalgia doesn’t hold enough monetary value to me to profit off of.

Mkengine,

I also have a steam deck, don’t like to play without buttons, so phone is a no go and the steam deck screen is too big for such pixelated games, so I got myself a RG35XX for 50€ from AliExpress and am super happy with it. It plays anything up to the PS1.

GluWu,

Same same. I really really want buttons, but I’ve been playing on touch screen emulators since the… I forget what it was even called, iTouch is a crime, so it was ipod touch? Idk, the first through maybe 3rd gen of those. 2012 hardware. I actually love the bigger screen and some graphic enhancements that the emulators/mods can do. But my steam deck is still a big thing to carry. Unless I know that’s the only thing I’m using when I’m out, I feel like I need a backpack to carry it and other stuff. I’ll have to dive into the rabbit hole of Chinese pocket emulators, I’ve only kept up with the us/euro Kickstarter type ones. Something pocket sized with buttons is really all I want. But again, do I need to consume that when I already have multiple options?

Telorand,

iPod Touch is the correct nomenclature, and people often also specify a specific generation (e.g. iPod Touch 4g).

GluWu,

I never had one that could do anything other than wifi and USB. I bought broken ones for <$40 and would put together “fresh” rebuilds with emulators to “donate”. Thinking about it I miss the hax0r more than their use. Replaying Pokémon emerald for hours during off time was just a benefit.

Telorand,

Yep, they only did WiFi. The 4g means 4th Gen, not 4g cellular. Confusing, but it was how people called them.

FeliXTV27, do gaming w Let's discuss: LEGO Games

I started my PC gaming experience with LEGO Universe, an MMO with a free to play section but most of the content was behind monthly passes. I could never convince my parents to buy me the passes, and they shut down the servers relatively soon after I started playing. But I have great memories of it and still yearn to explore those worlds behind the pay wall to this day.

knokelmaat,

If you have time and patience to get it working:

FeliXTV27,

Thanks! Currently I don’t have time at all, but maybe I will remember this one day and come back to it.

My partner and I are playing Lego Fortnite of all things. We’re having a good time. Played a lot of Lego Star Wars when it was new. Lego Lord of the Rings had a couple frustrating bugs that we got fed up with and kept us from finishing it.

In general with Lego LOTR and Lego Star Wars I recall being disappointed that a lot of the building was scripted - “hold to build”. Lego Fortnite has a nice mix of full-building blueprints and freeform piece placement, although it’s not quite block-by-block pieces.

darkphotonstudio, do gaming w Let's discuss: DOOM

I love Doom but it’s better with the Brutal Doom mod. I won’t play more recent, gory, and visually realistic shooters, but BD is so cartoonish and over the top and pixelated, I love it. I wish I had the patience for longer games, but with old-school FPSs, I can play a few maps and be happy and do something else.

I loved Doom. But I remember playing Heretic a whole lot more. And even so, my favorite game on the engine is Strife.

I kinda want more shooters like Doom or rather the Build engine era games. But Doom’s design is still very much at the heart of those, they just have the nifty interactive things in the world like pool tables and toilets and such. I don’t like the linearity of most SP shooters these days. I want to be dropped into a labyrinth and have to fight my way out. I want to actually need a map because I got lost.

trslim, do gaming w Let's discuss: DOOM

Doom 3 is my favorite one to play when there’s combat and its had some tweaks to the gunplay (like fixing the god-awful shotgun spread to be more normal, greatly reducing ammo amounts, and increasing armor effectiveness,) but if i want a really fun experience, I tend to do Doom 2, or Plutonia. The newer doom games don’t have enough mobs spawning in, and a lot of the levels just feel like combat arenas, (less so in Eternal) instead of places to explore. I think a lot of people overlook the exploration of the og doom games and 3. I liked how demons could roam the halls in Doom 1 and 2, and it really made the levels feel a bit more sandboxy imo. Not to say Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal are bad games, certainly not! It’s just a lot easier for me to sit down and play a few levels of doom 1 or 2 for 30 minutes or an hour, instead of getting invested in complex, more intense gameplay.

Doom 1 and 2 typically relieve stress, though can be challenging, while in doom 2016 and eternal, i feel overwhelmed sometimes and kinda have a bad time cuz I need to focus too much, constantly switching weapons and whatnot. Sometimes i just wanna mow down a horde of zombiemen and imps with a chaingun or ssg.

is it ok to discuss other games in relation. doom, doom2, and xwing/tiefighter are at a special place for me.
