I’ve been playing the Pokemon X romhack Eternal X on my 3DS as of late. I’ve been really enjoying replaying the game now that it’s an actual challenge rather than sleepwalking through yet another cakewalk of a Pokemon game. Pleasantly surprised by Nintendo’s announcement of Pokemon AZ today, I just hope it runs halfway decent (who am I kidding?)

NOT_RICK,

Gamefreak has yet to make a Pokemon game on the switch that doesn’t run like garbage so hopefully they can do a little better this go-around. I won’t be holding my breath though.

@NOT_RICK@lemmy.world avatar

You’re right, although I’d hope the reskin of a 20 year old game would run ok.

NOT_RICK,
@NOT_RICK@lemmy.world avatar

Can you put the existing ones on there already? I’m not shelling out for any of the old games but I sure would like the fuck around with some of them. I feel like they’re only going slow with AB properties so they can get further and further away from the merger date to shore up their case if regulators come back after them. Bethesda games hit gamepass almost immediately after their acquisition.

The Hugo’s have been a mess for over a decade now; seems like they’re happy to piss away what little credibility they had left.

I’m not so sure. They don’t have to give Sony or Nintendo a 30% cut on anything sold on Xbox. They may be in third but I’d imagine losing that cut would be painful. I suppose the question is does losing that 30% to save the cost of designing and selling another console as a loss leader make it worth it?

I find these kinds of articles fairly useless until Microsoft announces what their actual plans are. Until then we’re all just speculating based on one tweet from Phil Spencer and some unverified rumors.

NOT_RICK,
@NOT_RICK@lemmy.world avatar

They’ve shown a gameplay teaser? The only thing I can dig up is Kojima talking about it in a Sony pictures warehouse from the recent state of play.

NOT_RICK,
@NOT_RICK@lemmy.world avatar

You don’t mean the OD teaser, do you? Kojima has a lot of plates spinning at the moment

NOT_RICK,
@NOT_RICK@lemmy.world avatar

I have no problem with subscriptions as they are right now, my issue is a potential future where I am not given the opportunity outright buy the games I want to play.

NOT_RICK,
@NOT_RICK@lemmy.world avatar

While I agree, I’m really enjoying Toad Trump lmao

NOT_RICK,
@NOT_RICK@lemmy.world avatar

Baldur’s Gate 3. I don’t think I’m even out of the first act. I also got Jedi Survivor recently but BG3 is dominating my time.

NOT_RICK,

I’m glad he’s finally fucking off, it’s just a shame it’s with such a fat bag of cash

NOT_RICK,

It could have been one of the greatest of all time if it was allowed to bake for longer. Stupid Konami and their stupid pachinko machines

NOT_RICK,

You just described every award show ever.

I’m just glad there’s a big event that can act as a surrogate to what E3 once was.

Awarded to a game for outstanding development of ongoing content that evolves the player experience over time.

Its best ongoing game, not best live service game. I think things like Stardew Valley or No Man’s Sky fit into this just like Cyberpunk did because devs should be praised for when they go above and beyond. I’d argue CDPR owed that to their fans but still, they mostly pulled it off.

NOT_RICK,
@NOT_RICK@lemmy.world avatar

Cyberpunk? Think that’s right but I’d argue that would put them out of the running of this category in 2024 rather than this year’s.

NOT_RICK,
@NOT_RICK@lemmy.world avatar

That’s a reasonable take. I think the win speaks to how much of a marketing even this show is.

NOT_RICK,
@NOT_RICK@lemmy.world avatar

I’m going to be able to cut down swathes of ‘nids with a heavy bolter so it’s gonna be at least an 9/10 for me. I just wish they’d let me play as a death company, I’m sick of Ultramarines.

NOT_RICK,
@NOT_RICK@lemmy.world avatar

Under Phil I think they’d be allowed a level of creative freedom but I can’t blame them for wanting to leave under Mattrick; he would have kept them on the Halo hamster wheel forever.

NOT_RICK,
@NOT_RICK@lemmy.world avatar

Their fate is even sadder in my view, they’re now the live service aid studio. Hopefully Jim Ryan’s replacement can fix that because churning out live service games sounds like a horrible idea

NOT_RICK,
@NOT_RICK@lemmy.world avatar

I loved Halo and thought Destiny was meh, but as they say, hindsight is 20/20

NOT_RICK,
@NOT_RICK@lemmy.world avatar

It makes 3 Billy a year according to them. Sounds like a tidy profit but you’re probably right that hikes will continue, especially if they start getting some better games out at a better cadence.

NOT_RICK,
@NOT_RICK@lemmy.world avatar

And coming to gamepass when exactly?

NOT_RICK,
@NOT_RICK@lemmy.world avatar

I didn’t find any of the responses to be insightful, more a marketing reply to convince people who are off put by the negativity. This is coming from someone who’s played the game nearly 80 hours. Still disappointed by it, but I have a hoarding sim problem

NOT_RICK,
@NOT_RICK@lemmy.world avatar

I prefer the use oxygen to run mechanic over the now you can only walk mechanic. But yeah, it could be better. Let me hold all the guns Bethesda, encumbrance isn’t fun. I should just use the console and add that mod that reenables achievements

Grounded Patch 1.3: The "Make It And Break It" update (grounded.obsidian.net) angielski

The patch is rather big, the central feature is being able to custom-build your own level to play in. But beyond that there’s massive rebalancing to dandelions, healing items, 3-hit combos, 2H weapons, enemy wave retaliation attacks, MIX.Rs, everything....

NOT_RICK,
@NOT_RICK@lemmy.world avatar

I’m not a huge survival game guy but I found this one really fun. I loved Honey I Shrunk the Kids as a child so that probably has something to do with it. Might have to pick it up again to see the updates.

NOT_RICK,
@NOT_RICK@lemmy.world avatar

I found it funny that they fought so hard to regain their independence from Microsoft just to sell to Sony a decade later. Seems like a ship of Theseus situation

NOT_RICK,
@NOT_RICK@lemmy.world avatar

Nobody going to mention that this is likely to stop people from using devices like xim to spoof a controller while using keyboard and mouse? I know that this will likely be worked around but I’m sure that workaround gives Microsoft legal standing to go after the manufacturer. Still doesn’t make this any less shitty for someone using a third party controller and not cheating with it though.

NOT_RICK,
@NOT_RICK@lemmy.world avatar

I mean, you don’t spend 70 billion on a market sector you’re going to deemphasize.

NOT_RICK, (edited )
@NOT_RICK@lemmy.world avatar

Bethesda always has a long tail on their games. They’re committed to at least one DLC

NOT_RICK,
@NOT_RICK@lemmy.world avatar

Halo was my favorite series for a long while. Fell off of infinite quickly after beating the campaign so I should probably boot the multiplayer back up and see how it is now a couple years later.

NOT_RICK,
@NOT_RICK@lemmy.world avatar

This is the dead space remake, right?

NOT_RICK,
@NOT_RICK@lemmy.world avatar

Microsoft spent 69 Billy just so they could finally own geometry wars, change my mind.

NOT_RICK,
@NOT_RICK@lemmy.world avatar

I’d be piloting a ship around the Milky Way fueling my hoarding addiction with theft and murder

NOT_RICK,

Between ARM chips rapidly improving and x86 APUs really maturing I think portable gaming is in for a very interesting decade.

NOT_RICK,
@NOT_RICK@lemmy.world avatar

I could see this happening. This is the future we’re getting, like it or not. Off to play cyberpunk to prepare.

NOT_RICK,
@NOT_RICK@lemmy.world avatar

None in terms of extra power, but from what I read there was a die shrink so the console should use less electricity and run cooler.

NOT_RICK,
@NOT_RICK@lemmy.world avatar

I forgot they weren’t 1TB from the gate. That was an odd choice

NOT_RICK,
@NOT_RICK@lemmy.world avatar

I have a PC that comes with a 300w charger. I can charge off a 100w GaN charger so long as my power profile is on battery saver. I’d expect the same for OP.

NOT_RICK,
@NOT_RICK@lemmy.world avatar

I’m glad it’s a promising headset, I’m just sad I won’t be owning one out of principle.

NOT_RICK,
@NOT_RICK@lemmy.world avatar

This is like the part of my annual review where they ask me how they think I’m doing. Not exactly gonna tell on myself, lol.

NOT_RICK,
@NOT_RICK@lemmy.world avatar

I would already own a quest if just about any other company made it

NOT_RICK,
@NOT_RICK@lemmy.world avatar

I’m concerned with the state of consolidation in the gaming space (and just about every other market, I might add) but I also find it hard to argue they’re a monopoly. They’re number three in the console space and thanks to Proton Microsoft’s de facto stranglehold on PC gaming OS’s is weaker than ever. I could see cloud gaming being a problem in the future but it’s such a nascent market who knows what will happen there.
