Wow, this is awful. Some people reported that these ads are also very petty and not necessarily related to the game, like apparently Elden Ring shows an ad for a licensed mousepad when you hover over the game now…...
The limited-time demo (link for the lazy) has no DRM, so all you need to do to preserve it beyond its expiration date is copy the folder it’s installed to somewhere else. This works with most limited-time demos on Steam....
I got excited and then I saw the new art style. I'm afraid I prefer the original art style - glorious isometric loveliness. The new one would be fine if the old one wasn't so gorgeous.
I went back to Fallout New Vegas today. I got to Vera’s Suite and rescued Christine. I chose to Merge Dog and God, I was going to spare Dean but I told him about the collars instead of cooperating when we first met so he didn’t want to help me (I got the holograms for the dick though). Tomorrow I’m going to finish the DLC....
I've been finishing off Assassin's Creed: Odyssey on my Xbox One X. I mostly enjoyed it but many of the RPG mechanics were quite tiresome. I hear Valhalla is even longer, which doesn't bode well. Odyssey was already hitting the upper limit for me and the mechanics were starting to grow stale.
Still, the world was fairly pretty and it had a surprising amount of comedy in it. The fighting mechanics were mostly fun, although the lack of hidden blades and stupid auto-leveling content rather worked against the demi-god power fantasy.
I should probably get my Steam Deck RMA'd so I can play something else, but that requires more mental effort than I can handle right now.
Hi guys, I have the hunger for more history games. I have to say that usually I’m not a huge AC fan, but last summer I played Odyssey and I’m a huge ancient history nerd and I think that the game and the period were represented very well. (The Story was kinda meh, but serviceable). What other AC game would you recommend for...
As someone from Britain, I never got the educational vibe. I mostly got "is this a reference to something?" as various characters showed up. My knowledge of American history starts in the 1920s, mostly.
I recently started a game of Pirates! When I sat down to play today, the pirates were no longer the only ones spicing up their speech with arrs and ahoys. The merchants were doing it. The military were doing it. The nobles were doing it (awkwardly). The barmaids were doing it. Even the user interface was doing it....
Game is Still Fallout New Vegas (Almost Done! I just have to do Lonsome road after Dead Money and then Hoover Dam). I went ahead and started Dead Money. I don’t have any long stories attached to this one, but this screenshot felt appropriate regardless
After the massive blunder of Starfield, I cannot see how Elder scrolls 6 could possibly be successful. Everything points to the fact that they knew that the game was not even half finished, in my opinion, with major glaring issues, and they decided to just send it off anyway. The difference between this game and Oblivion is that...
If we reword the question as "Is Elder Scrolls 6 doomed to be a mediocre experience?" then my money would be on "yes". Bethesda generally seem to aim to make games just as good as they need to be to make money. Capitalism over creative expression.
If the game is good enough to get people to buy it and consider buying the next one, that's all the effort it's worth putting in (as far as publishers are concerned). It's not a new approach, they've just had a lot more practice at it than game developers/publishers had in the '90s.
Temper your expectations as unless you're willing to buy a few million copies yourself, they can't justify the cost of caring what you think.
...and no, I do not approve of this system one jot. It's gross and antithetical to creativity. I'm glad we have a lot more independent developers who aren't as beholden to neoliberal capitalism these days.
I found it very relaxing and enjoyable. Excellent escapism. I don't particularly care for the RPG mechanics but I put up with them for the rest of the experience.
I've got an Xbox One X and there's just not been anything on current gen platforms that excites me. Lots of live service games that are of zero interest to me, coupled with subscriptions that end up imposing FoMo.
