Games like Baldur’s Gate assume you have at least some DnD experience. I remember playing Neverwinter Nights for the first time long ago and being really glad I played one session of DnD before it.

Yeah they burned me a few times in the past by acquiring games/studios and breaking their Linux compatibility immediately after getting them. I’ll hold this grudge for decades.

Apple doesn’t ship consumer systems with dedicated GPUs in them and they’re on their own custom silicon now. Developing cross platform games for them must be a major PITA.

Loading Ready Run streams a lot of stuff. And you might like the dessert bus for hope fundraiser happening in November.

They burned a lot of good will. With these changes, existing games won’t switch engines. But everybody doing new development will be looking at other options. Not sure if retroactive fees would have ever survived a court case, but smaller devs won’t have the energy to fight it out.

What's your favorite example of developer's foresight?

My favorite is in the Dawguard DLC for Skyrim. If you somehow get far enough into the DLC to enter the Soul Cairn and you didn’t do the main story quest where you kill your first dragon, you’ll get unique dialogue with a dragon you meet in the Soul Cairn. He calls you Dovahkiin, and you can ask him why he called you that, to...

You should return the PS5 and just do PC gaming. Maybe get a steam deck or another portable.

The only question I have is: how well will it work on linux?

Backwards compatibility is the best feature of Xbox, and I don't understand why Sony is so far behind on this

When I got the XSX recently, it was so I can play Starfield when it comes out. That was basically the only reason. I did not realize the extensive backwards compatibility that this thing has. But since getting it, I’ve been playing FF13 trilogy, Fable games, Dragon Age series, Lost Odyssey, etc. Basically all games of note...

Sony changed their CPU architecture every time until PS4/5. The only reason some PS3s could play PS2 games is because they had also had PS2 hardware in them. Xbox has been x86 the whole time.

Oh I forgot about the xenon chips. Those are still much easier to emulate I think, at least compare to the cell and emotion chips Sony used early on.

Nice. Mine were all bright red or pink (depending on which TV I was playing on).
