Klystron, w Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty — Official Launch Trailer

Played female v when I first ran through the game, any reason against playing male v if I’m restarting? I’ve always heard female v was better but idk why. Only difference I know of is you can’t romance Judy.

citrusface,

Personally, I think Lady V is a better voice actor. So that’s why I play her.

Coelacanth,
@Coelacanth@feddit.nu avatar

Apart from who you can romance it’s only down to preference. Many people say Fem V is the better voice actor, but having experienced both I would say they shine in different moments. I probably like Masc V better as Streetkid/Nomad and Fem V better as Corpo. Also, for some of the most charged moments during the ending(s) I liked Masc V’s delivery better.

I’d say to Masc V this time to see the differences.

@Kaldo@kbin.social avatar

Same here, corpo Valerie and nomad Vincent seem like the best match. Even in terms of romances, if you can stand going through Panam's lol.
They definitely give off different vibes so I'd say it's worth experiencing both for sure.

Klystron, w Steam SHMUP Fest, now through October 2nd

Any recommendations? Not too well versed in the genre… I did see synthetik on there, which was dope as hell. That’s a great game.

CouldntCareBear, (edited )

Enter the Gungeon is a steal at that price. And so is West of Dead.

Abrslam,

Synthetik isn’t actually a Shmup, if you’re looking for games like it you want to look into twinstick shooters. A Shmup is an automatically scrolling shooter with where you are traveling in a single primary direction. A true Shmup gives you freedom to move all around the screen but the screen scrolls through the level at a fixed rate. Famous shmups include Gradius, R-Type, Raiden. There are a few different subgenres but the main offshoot you’ll see is Bullet Hell.

A great place to start is the Touhou games, and fan games (My favourite is Blue Devil in the Belveder). My all time favourite Shmup is Teslapunk, but it’s pretty obscure and not exactly popular.

If you want to learn more look up Shmup Junkie on YouTube and join his discord. Lots of great guys and a curated list of beginner games/goals for someone who’s interested in the genre. Trust me there is a Shmup for every taste out there. Try lots to see what clicks for you!

yads, w Mad Max vs Days Gone, which do you like more?

I only played Days Gone and it was ok, but kind of glitchy and exploitable. It was one of those games where the boss battles have basically nothing to do with the regular gameplay loop which was super frustrating. Got stuck on the mega zombie boss fight and stopped playing.

Blamemeta,

The Sawmill Horde? Yeah, you really want a good MG for that fight.

I kinda like the idea of a soft “please grind to get better” instead of Mad Max “Grind so the next main story mission will unlock”

urbanzero,

Glitchy and exploitable how? And I’d say the boss fights fit perfectly in the regular game loop because every time you’d come to something like a boss fight it was really just introducing you to a new regular enemy type.

I remember the first time I fought the breaker, roid rage freak, and I burned through my entire stock of ammo and molotovs. And I never wanted to see one of those things again. But then they were added to the regular enemy spawns. Driving around at night, oh shit it’s a breaker. Cleaning out a nest, fuck it’s a breaker. The game kept the tension of exploring and fighting high by continually adding new challenges and as long as you kept going you’d get new ways to deal with those challenges.

yads,

I just found the main gameplay loop too easy, but the boss fights way too hard. So it was kind of frustrating for me.

Aurenkin, w Dyson Sphere Program - Combat System: Rise of the Dark Fog Coming this December | TGS2023

So pumped for this. Put in a bunch of hours back when it first came out in early access then decided to put it down until combat came out. Super excited to jump back in!

Haui,
@Haui@discuss.tchncs.de avatar

Same. I also put in hundreds of hours in the beginning and barely touched it since then. I really like the game. It’s awesome for how cheap it was.

zyeri, w Destiny 2 is “broken” as enemies completely stop fighting

It’s usually fine during the day (school/work hours) but yeah evening and weekends are almost entirely unplayable, so much so that my clan has basically stopped raiding until it’s over.

RagingRobot, w Dusk: Unpopular opinion: I'd rather pay Valve 30% and put up with their de facto monopoly than help Epic work towards their own (very obviously desired) monopoly

You just claimed 2 companies are monopolies of the same industry lol but I agree larger companies are not the way to go

pfannkuchen_gesicht, (edited )

They didn’t. They claimed Valve has a monopoly while Epic is working towards having one in the future.

Albbi, w GOG 15th anniversary sale

Picked up the Baird’s Tale Trilogy. Good reviews and I’d love to play one of these kinds of games again.

Kyoyeou, w Mortal Kombat 1 is No.1 in the UK boxed charts. Physical launch sales are down 38% compared with Mortal Kombat 11. Lies of P is No.3, just ahead of Pikmin 1 + 2 at No.4. Payday 3 comes in at No.7...

Quite certain Payday 3 could have been higher if it had better executive choices like I don’t know, an offline mode, so that it’s no today after 4 days that people can start to have some servers that are about good. Emphasis on About

Lately the Android performance has improved a lot for me. Most games I want have become playable. Pokémon Legends Arceus needs some work though, last time I checked...

toxicbubble, w Dragon's Dogma 2 brings back all the joy of Capcom's 2012 cult hit with few real changes

haven’t played much but the original felt a little uncanny, like the characters have no personality. otherwise, one of the best combat systems, customization, & controls i ever played. could do without the climbing mechanic, it takes some getting used to but feels like shadow of the colossus in a way

Pea666, w New Star Wars Jedi Game Is in the Works, Cal Kestis Voice Actor Reveals

Good for him and good for the fans.

I’m pretty sad that these games aren’t my cup of tea. By all accounts they should be right up my alley but for some reason I just couldn’t get into them. I was hoping for a spiritual successor to the Jedi Knight games I guess.

Still, decent quality single player games are a welcome addition to the market.

A solo mode in an online-only game? I hope the servers get fucked Payday 3 style (they won’t) so people will stop buying these garbage games.
