Thanks for the tipp! Currently, I have a bit of a problem with hibernation. My proprietary gpu driver sends me to blackscreen and forces me to hard reboot. So that I might need to fix first. :)

I second rimworld in general but I‘d say its a management sym rather than strategy. Real strategy games (and the best ones I know of) are starcraft 1 and c&c red alert. They’re as old as time but don’t have bugs afaik since games were made different back then.

I get that you‘re frustrated for more reasons than a freshly released game has bugs but this is literally the first time I hear of bg 3 being not completeable. What specs are you running on?

Heyo! Your question led me to check some stuff since my wife wants to upgrade at some point as well.

Since we are slowly moving away from the intel/nvidia/windows ecosphere towards amd/linux/open source, we figured she should go with am5 when she changes her motherboard.

The b650-s and ryzen 5 7600 combined with gskill ripjaws s5 32gig. All together was roughly 500 bucks. The cooler needs to go on top obviously. We already have a gpu but if we needed one I‘d probably go with the amd 7600 since it is fairly new and pretty cheap.

Just so you know, I have put in quite some reaearch on gpus recently but nothing else so I‘m fairly positive about the gpu, a little less certain on the rest. The 7600 is not far from the 6700 xt imo and better in terms of fps per dollar/euro.

The nvidia 3060ti is pretty much the same but I think amd is the better decision going forward since nvidia is being a dick about their drivers forever and amd is more futureproof if you leave windows.

Cyberpunk oversold and underdelivered at launch. 3 months later it was insanely good, especially if you had a high end pc. It never sucked, the management of cdpr made a mistake, thats it.

Everyone will call me naive again but how about we actually hold people to their word?

Why is it not illegal for say politicians to say one thing and do the opposite?

If a game studio says „we‘re gonna make the greatest game ever!“ I would like to make them prove it or refund everyone.

You can’t say „contains no nuts“ and put nuts in it, why is there a caveat for other stuff? Just keep to the truth. Why is it so hard to normalize advertising without tons of hyperbole?

(I‘m autistic and I see telling the truth as a good thing. I don’t understand why someone would like to be lied to. Omit something to not hurt them, ok. But outright lying is wrong on a binary level imo. As in not ok ever.)

I agree. But I also believe that we give up to easily because „thats the way it is“. My point is we should push more in the other direction and try to go binary (right/wrong) as much as possible. If something is morally wrong, it needs to be put into law asap nearly no matter the cost.

I agree 100%. In business, you have to prove your innocence when subject to a lawsuit. Same goes for lying imo.

If you ran out of money to keep your promise, you will be able to prove that. Same goes for having to compromise to get some other benefit.

The initial point I was trying to make is that we are so accustomed (imo) to being lied to that we don’t make people prove that they didn’t plan that from the beginning.

For example: where I live, it is common practice to make food pictures for ads or menus that a) dont resemble the final product and b) are made with completely different, often inedible substances to look like a better version of the real deal. Something that an hones picture can never achieve. This needs to be illegal. This is not someone running out of money or compromising but premeditated lying.

So let me get that straight:

Instead of doing their due diligence, they just bought up as many studios as they could and are now considering selling, shrinking or closing them (I assume while keeping the IP for themselves if there is any as well as any valuable assets).

This reads like a „we need to homogenize the game industry so lobbying for anti competitive measures becomes easier.“

I still don’t understand why shit like this is even legal.

I get your point. You‘re not the only one schooling peeps on this. It’s highly frustrating.

Make sure to not repeat yourself a lot but make a blog, youtube channel, etc. Make your statements, put sources together to make it easy and logical and then just link to it.

The big problem democracy has is efficiency. People who actually know stuff burn out because they don’t accept that they might be right but not efficient. Don’t be that guy.

I‘m currently trying to build stuff up with mastodon but it’s still a wip.

I think the discussion has become a bit muddy.

The argument against live service games is that you are dependent on the servers hosted by the developer/publisher (afaik).

In normal circumstances, they are able to stop you from playing or alter the terms at any time however they like.

This is a dominant/subordinate relationship which is quite risky. Especially for young people who are still learning what a healthy relationship looks like.

The alternative is a equality relationship where you decide if you buy something based on the price.

One argument against that would be that you can „rent“ an apartment as well. But legislature has shown that states will intervene on a vendor (landlord) redefining the terms of the contract. Not so much with gaming.

Now you are arguing that the game is taken off live service and you will be able to play it offline. I don’t know if that is the case but if so then buying it now would actually send the message that doing the right thing after all boosts sales.

TL;DR: Live service games are badly legislated imo but truly making such a game offline playable with all dlc would be a good thing in my book.

Just my personal opinion. Have a good one.

Thanks for letting me know! I‘m playing with the idea of a handheld but I‘m open to other options since I would love to balance price/experience/comfort.

Most people say rooted ps3 would work well, one said it doesn’t. I sadly only have an iphone atm so android is no option. I could technically root an old iphone if that works. Otherwise I‘d probably buy a decently priced handheld.

Building one from scratch is a bit much next to my ubuntu home server with 14 docker containers, two pcs (one linux, one windows) and 6 pets. :) But i would opt for a kit or something if it’s better than prebuilt (ie anbernic).

Its so awesome that so many people are giving good suggestions. Thank you very much.

I agree. Competitive games and code injection don’t mix but for those that are not competitive (i.e. minecraft), code injection is important.
