Todd Howard? Wasn’t expecting that. Anywho, looks like this’ll mainly be in 1st person? That’s kinda neat actually, I don’t think we’ve had a 1st person Indy before.
Machine Games are pretty well known for their first person shooters (they made the modern Wolfenstein games), so it is kinda reassuring they're sticking to first person, even if they're clearly not going for a Wolfenstein feel.
Everything I’ve seen so far of this game just looks so…OK. The graphics are pretty, but that’s the least important part in an RPG for me. I really want this game to be good, I loved Pillars of Eternity and while this isn’t a sequel, it’s still set in the same world. I agree with the common opinion that the combat looks pretty weak, none of the attacks had any impact. I hope they surprise me, but so far this gives me a “pick up on sale for 20$ or less” feeling.
Yeah some of the animations look a little unpolished, and they left just enough frames in that you can see the revolver doesn’t move at all when it’s fired, just a little smoke cloud clips through his hand.
After looking at a YouTube review that really went in as to what changed, I can honestly say it’s nothing relevant from our perspective… they compared the fps rates, which were exactly the same, and compared the resolutions it plays at which is also the same. They compared graphics and only seemed to find very slight differences in some foliage and shadows.
So this absolutely seems like a cash grab. I think you get some added modes or content, which is nice, but how or why would you call it a remake?
The only thing for me which is a notable improvement is the loading times. But when I’m playing through such a long game, what’s another 50-60 seconds? Nice to have, sure, but not making me hand over cash to upgrade.
I liked the first one alright but I remember it being a bit easy, and putting it down for rim world, a much more challenging game in the same vein. Guess I’ll wait and see on this one.
You can still play the game offline and single player just fine. Multiplayer has never been a core feature for my playthroughs. I don’t think it ever worked particularly well.
Opened dialogue, genuinely listened to pirates, and took steps to make his products more appealing and less hostile (eg removed all DRM in a time when everything was super DRM ).
