I wonder which faction they'll use this time? The gameplay kinda depends on there being a huge horde of grunts to mow down, and they've now used the two non-humans factions that that description applies to

Ostrakon,

Necrons for sure IMO

Then the space marines will get their asses kicked. There’s no way Humans can stand up to the de-atomizer guns of the necrons

Skua,

I'm not exactly up to date on my 40k lore, do the necrons have some kind of disposable chaff unit now? Back when I played they were the tankiest army in the entire game, which definitely doesn't work for a game in which you are usually carving through a massive mob

Space Marine 2 spoilersI was, of course, pretty gutted that they never showed up in the latter part of the campaign. I was playing through the campaign with a friend that doesn't know the setting much but who loves Terminator, and the instant I saw the signs of necron stuff going on I thought I was going to get to see him become Power Armour Kyle Reese

Ostrakon,

Basic Necron Warriors have always been innumerable and disposable.Their number is legion, their name is death. Lorewise gauss weapons shred their armor i guess, but it’s also been inconsistent as they are not always high AP on the table.

Usually if Necron Warriors are portrayed as unstoppable killing machines it’s because they were in their pre-5th edition lore where they were on par with space marines, and limited in number because it’s always on a Tomb World that is just starting to wake up.

Skua,

Ahh, that thing about the editions tracks with when I was playing on the tabletop. There were a couple of necron armies in the group I played with and they were always right stubborn bastards to put down. They didn't hit that hard, but you sure as hell had to hit them hard if you wanted to make any headway

Main takeaway is the HL2 still looks pretty good

Zahille7,

Absolutely. Just boot it up without to rtx to see for yourself

It doesn’t need it. Game is fine since launch.

This looks bad. You can’t just slap new tech on a game and expect it to be great. Half Life 2 is stylized a certain way, based on the tech available at the time. This makes the game look… Off… Not a fan of RTX remakes, they always look like this. Bland, flat, no soul.

Zdvarko,

Yeah agreed, it looks washed out, if you could alter the brightness and keep the darkness and suspense it’d be great.

EarlGrey,

Some parts look fine, but those Ravenholm scenes look terrible compared to Vanilla HL2. Completely kills the dim, gloomy vibe that defined it when every light source is basically a floodlight.

This is the one written by Ryukishi07, isn’t it? I’m really curious what he’ll be able to cook up for us.

I was really impressed with the demo during a Steam Next Fest last year.

Walican132, do games w Space Marine 3 is Officially in Development

This kinda disappoints me. They promised a long lifecycle and that was one of the reasons I purchase. Granted I honestly did end up not liking the gameplay a ton (specifically invasions which I thought I’d love.) That said I really doubt anything they are developing is going to be a meaningful improvement. They should have supported 2 for a couple years worked in some new ideas/control/tech. Any campaign or enemy’s in the meantime could have been DLc and people would have purchased it. I’m not interested in “spacemarine” becoming a yearly or bi yearly release.

Quick edit because I didn’t express myself super clearly, they clearly state in the article this is years away and they plan to continue to support 2. But now to me it feels there are going to be two separate teams working on Warhammer at saber and not one focused on

Skua,

2 was announced three years before it released, so I wouldn't expect this to necessarily mean 3 is coming that soon

Okay, but the first game didn’t even release with all its content

Don’t get me wrong, it was a good game, but we should really get a bit less used to buying unfinished games at AAA pricing. This is especially true if they’re going to move on to a sequel this quickly

sheogorath,

I don’t know why they priced it 60 dollars in the US. But Space Marine 2 has a really generous regional pricing. Converted to USD it’s around 30 bucks to get Space Marine 2 and with the current sale it’s around 22 bucks to get it. At that prices it’s quite worth it in my opinion.

HollowNaught,
@HollowNaught@lemmy.world avatar

That’s not what I was saying. I was criticising them releasing a game, charging full price for it, promising the game’s full features to come out later, then moving on to a sequel ~7 months later

That looks awesome. I have been on the look out for RTX remixes some are pretty nice and a great way to introduce someone who is a graphics snob to older titles. Quake 2 RTX was fun and I think portal really benefited from the RTX graphics. The RTX reflections in the GTA:V:E are very satisfying I love all this. Don’t know why lemmy is a bunch of pointless assholes who seem to hate something for no reason. God forbid other people fucking enjoy something, cunts.

PonyOfWar,

The RTX reflections in the GTA:V:E are very satisfying I love all this.

It’s called Raytracing. RTX is just a marketing term Nvidia uses for their GPUs, GTAVE has nothing to do with it.

CoffeeKills,

I am well aware of what ray tracing is. Which is why I know RTX is not simply ray tracing and I can refer to it. I am specifically referring to RTX technology and not ray tracing in general. And heck throw DLSS in there too fucking love that shit. Is it wrong to be impressed with the game I have been playing for ten years because they not only gave us a graphics improvement but also a noticeable performance boost?

PonyOfWar,

I am specifically referring to RTX technology and not ray tracing in general.

There is nothing specifically “RTX” about the reflections in GTAVE.

CoffeeKills,

It still it is using RTX tech even if it isn’t advertising it. Because RTX is the marketing term of the underlying technology for that ray tracing on Nvidia GPUs. So I am still right to be impressed by its performance. I probably didn’t need to bring it up in my post and left it at the stuff titled RTX. RTX. (and I cannot speak to AMD or Intel GPU technologies, and I don’t see anyone else either)

Will they make another collector’s edition with an awesome statue like they did for Space Marine II? They might get me with another crazy statue.

  1. Mpk zachęca do przesiadki z auta do tramwaju, jednak podnosząc cenę biletów to jest nieskuteczne, ponieważ przejazd autem, nawet wynajętym czesto wychodzi taniej.

didleth,
@didleth@szmer.info avatar
