Shattered Pixel Dungeon, for Android

Valmond,

I’m not a that huge fan of the a bit too random probability to win in PD, have only played the original though…

RainfallSonata,

No, shattered is better. I survive longer, anyway.

ordellrb, do games w Looking for recommendations for a specific type of gaming YouTube channel

“Second Wind” they have 5min reviews and longer stuff

Dunstabzugshaubitze, do games w 2D / ISO turnbased "cool" RPG recommendation

maybe the pathfinder games by owlcat. the pathfinder rules they use are very very simmiliar to d&d 3.5 so, should feel familiar if you enjoyed neverwinter.

they are not super hardware hungry and run without a problem through proton/wine.

Valmond,

Thank you will check out! I always thought it was realtime.

Dunstabzugshaubitze,

when they released they were real time with pause, like the old baldurs gate games.

they added a turn based mode though, in a later patch.

Valmond,

Interesting, will definitely check out now. Thanks!

Wrath of the righteous runs pretty poorly in my experience, no really playable without a graphic cards. Kingmaker works better though

lath, do gaming w Anyone else have a fleshed out game completion list or am I just properly insane?

You’re properly insane. I keep this list by memory and those I forget, I get to play again. Much more fun. Embrace the chaos!

Megaman_EXE, do gaming w What are some games you find yourself frequently coming back to?

Mirror’s Edge, Jet set radio future (and now bomb rush cyberfunk)

The 3D Mario’s (I haven’t gotten around to playing galaxy 2 yet and it’s eating me up inside lol)

Skyrim, Minecraft, stardew Valley

Ocarina of time and majoras mask.

Animal crossing (usually whatever latest entry, but I liked new leaf the best so far)

Lumines has become an addiction

Forza Horizon (similar to animal crossing, usually the latest entry, but surprisingly I enjoyed 1 and 4 the most. I was surprised about 4 because I didn’t think I really cared too much about the location, but I liked the seasons a lot. It kept everything feeling new)

Kirby and the crystal shards

blindsight,

You’re the first person I’ve seen say Mario, which I find surprising.

For me, it’s Super Mario World, including romhacks. It’s platforming perfection. I particularly like the SMW Central level competition compilation romhacks since you can skip the levels you don’t enjoy.

Spyro is another one I come back to, especially now with the remastered version.

Diablo 2, with mods now, is another. “Stay awhile, and listen.” I sure will, old man.

For a long time, it was Counter Strike and Team Fortress, but I don’t really play FPS games any more so it’s been almost a decade for me at this point.

Megaman_EXE,

Super Mario world is a classic! I haven’t tried any romhacks for it, that sounds like fun!

Oh man Diablo 2. I’ve attempted to play it so many times, but I’ve yet to finish it yet. Not because I don’t want to, but it’s like every time I start up a fresh game, something happens to my game or save. I’ve lost a save twice now(this is over the course of 15 years) and the last time I tried to get it to run, it didn’t want to cooperate on my windows 10 install. It’s oddly cursed lol. I’ll finish it one day. I have to haha

Beardsley, do gaming w Flashy, simple souls like?

You might like Remnant or Remnant 2, I think.

Berttheduck,

Not sure it fits as it’s souls with guns, so missing the spectacle fighter element, but it’s definitely worth a look. They are both excellent games. I love the core loop they’ve got, the shooting feels excellent.

med, do gaming w Flashy, simple souls like?

The only soulslike that’s reasonably flashy yet simple enough that comes to mind is Code Vein

It’s slightly more cartoony than black desert, but has a high degree of character customization.

Story’s fine, but not required.

Combat was cool. I found it fine even on a bluetooth controller. Didn’t get massively frustrated with input lag.

Character builds can vary quite a lot, and are mostly viable. I played a glass cannon and my friend played a tank. They worked just fine alone or together. On that note, the coop is serviceable.

store.steampowered.com/app/678960/CODE_VEIN/

Probably wait for a discount.

flashgnash,

I’ve got code vein, got a fair way through it before my co op buddy bailed and then I didn’t pick it back up again

It is a little on the cartooney side as you say but it is cool looking

Nethack DROD

Total war warhammer, always the newest one. I come back, play a campaign and forget about it for a few months.

Slay the spire

What do you like about Control? That’s one game I’ve been thinking about revisiting

helenslunch,
@helenslunch@feddit.nl avatar

What’s not to like? Super cool main character with telekinetic and space gun abilities. Explosions like crazy. Regular upgrades. Not too complicated. Lots of exploring. Plenty of storyline, but not too much. Intriguing characters. “Open world”, but with a mostly clear sense of direction.

Probably one of my fave games of all time. Even though I hated Alan Wake.

SrTobi, do gaming w What are some games you find yourself frequently coming back to?

Every few years I replay Gothic 1 or 2. Are these great games? Yes. Is it also because of nostalgia? Yeah

Also from time to time I reinstall black flag… Mostly for the feeling of sailing

prograhammingdev, do gaming w What are some games you find yourself frequently coming back to?

I revisit Slay the Spire fairly frequently. Vampire Survivors when I have my Deck and a little bit of downtime.

BirdEnjoyer, do gaming w Need android game recommendations

Pathos NetHack (The OG Roguelike's very newbie friendly fork and UI)

Rogue Saga (A simple, bare bones Roguelike, nice for a casual run)

Orna (If old school Final Fantasy were Pokemon Go, and didn't have predatory monetization schemes) Heroes of Aethric is its non-GPS sibling.

Most of my free android games came from when Amazon did its Amazon Underground thing years ago, so you're kinda SoL on that, sorry.

Glide, do gaming w Need android game recommendations

Vampire Survivors.

The android version is free with optional benefits for watching ads. If you buy any of the paid DLC (~$2 per DLC?) you are given a menu option to disable the “watch an ad for free shit?” prompts, but they’re hardly in the way if you don’t want to pay a cent. Playable offline, controller supported and is tbh a massive game.

frank, do gaming w Need android game recommendations

These all sound like emulator-ideal criteria to me!

There’s a lot of non-free versions of that which are super reasonable and meet all of your other criteria nicely. Stardew Valley, Slay the Spire. Games that are full games for a one time low cost.
