Bobmighty, do games w What are some game series you would like to see revived? And if possible, which entry should the new game follow from?

You know what, fucking Bubsy. Let’s see another one of those fuckers. Let’s give it to a dev like insomniac though. That’s what I want to see. Let’s take something that never quite pulled it together and make that shit shine! Give Bubsy his chance in the sun.

There’s a fair amount of failed mascots that had small followings or good ideas badly executed. Instead of rehashing the already beloved, let’s see some genuine attempts to redeem some of the benchwarmers.

They made a couple modernized games. But they don’t have the feel of the original (better than Bubsy 3D though).

Bobmighty,

That’s why I mentioned insomniac, or another dev of that caliber. It’s a pipe dream, but it’s fun to think about. Doesn’t even have to be Bubsy. Imagine rockstar taking a crack at Glover. What’s your dream team of failed mascot and proven dev?

Omegamanthethird,
@Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world avatar

Honestly, Bubsy and Insomniac is a pretty stellar combo. Maybe Sucker Punch.

Not related, I would love to open a bar called Bubsy’s with the tag line “What Could Possibly Go Wrong?”

JackbyDev,

Pilot’s license, what for?

Would love to see a Dark Cloud 3. Not PlayStation exclusive though.

Revan343, (edited )

Dark Cloud 3 Bearnstained me; I swear I have memories of watching reviews of Dark Cloud 3, which talked about the previous two games, when I was a kid. It was a short video game review segment that regularly aired, on YTV.

XIII following… the ending of XIII cliffhanger.

Half Life following HL2 E2 cliffhanger… or L4D3… or Portal 3…

Overwatch following Jeff Kaplan

Cave Story following Cave Story 1

A good comment& conquer game

chiliedogg,

Is that an online propaganda troll simulator?

MrGerrit,

Oh fuck, muhaha. Yeah, you never heard of it?? Highly recommend it.

Vilian, do games w It genuinely upsets me that Valve spent their time and resources on another Dota variation

They are doing what they like, you would be complaining about them making games without passion, make they really like tf2 and Dota lol

subignition, do gaming w Is Callisto Protocol a hidden Dead Space remake?
@subignition@piefed.social avatar

I haven't played Callisto Protocol, but it seems like it's explicitly a spiritual successor, yeah

Ugurcan, do games w Mafia: The Old Country will offer voice acting in Sicilian

Sophia Petrillo will be exhilarated.

Catpurple, do gaming w I don't hate Body Type replacing Gender, I hate laziness

Oh wow, I could never put to words why I didn’t like the body type system either, but you nailed it. Yeah, I also wish that games could just give you sliders and/or more presets or something to have actual variety. If a game will only support curvy girls and buff dudes, but won’t also let people make, for instance, cute androgynous cat boys, or anything else a person might fancy, then what’s the point of it?

stringere, (edited ) do games w Can anyone suggest some good co-op games for two people?

V Rising - 49.2 Hours

  • Online Co-op
  • Isometric perspective
  • Vampire survival/crafting
  • Be a vampire lord with a keep, thralls, blood banks, cast magic, wild shape to a wolf, decorate a castle, posess a horse, make your Castlevania/vampire fantasy come true!

Enshrouded - 123.3 Hours

  • Online co-op, 3rd person perspective
  • Absolutely beautiful and haunting exploration/survival/crafting/action rpg.
  • Early access and already has had large updates
  • Wonderful and detailed building system. Will post pics if I remember when I’m at my PC.

Remnant II - 22.5 Hours

  • Online co-op, 1st/3rd person
  • Soulslike shooter
  • Has been quite challenging playing it single player but co-op seems like it could be good with easier progression

Stardew Valley - 252.2 Hours

  • 2d Pixel graphics
  • Online co-op
  • Huge game that has had many updates
  • Has been $14.99 since 2016 and will always be $14.99 per the one man developer. All DLC is free and included.

Edit to add: 9 Monkeys of Shaolin - 7.0 Hours

  • 2.5D Kung Fu ARPG Brawler
  • Open skill system is fun
  • It’s kung fu. I am not familiar enough with Shaolin staff styles to say if the moves are authentic or not.
Lifter,

Stardew valley has split screen support on PC!

stringere,

Did not realize that! I can’t wait to play with my daughter!

Lifter,

Yep that’s perfect. They get to be the “farm hand” and get their own little cottge and everything! You can buy more cottages at the carpenter if you are more than two people.

My wife and I just finished Super Mario Wonder. It was a lot of fun. Every level has a weird psychedelic section that completely changes the players or the level temporarily. It shakes it up and gives a lot more variety than the other side scrolling Mario games.

Elden Ring with the Seamless Co-op mod. It’s not difficult or complicated to set up and it works extremely well

villainy,

Second this. A friend and I just finished up a full co-op main game + DLC run and it was a blast!

JustEnoughDucks, (edited ) do gaming w Is it worth upgrading from a Ryzen 7 3800X to a Ryzen 7 5700X3d?
@JustEnoughDucks@feddit.nl avatar

Games simply don’t benefit enough for the cost of a new processor, let alone new motherboard and ram.

A new GPU will almost always the best bang for your buck improvement in games.

Then you should definitely go AMD. There is literally no reason not to unless you are already using cuda or ray tracing a ton. AMD is the best value for the money by far, has a MUCH better software interface (never thought I would say that), comparable or less driver issues than nvidia now, and it also works flawlessly on Linux, including full undervolting support (important on any GPU, but on AMD it is much easier).

That being said, if comparable performance GPUs are the same price in your region and you use windows, nvidia is also fine to grab.

Always undervolt your GPU. My 5700XT that ran on 200W before now maxes out at 150W and usually is at 140W with a 1% performance difference. That is like a 9C temp difference.

Infernal_pizza,
@Infernal_pizza@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah it seems like a CPU upgrade isn’t worth it at the moment. I’m still a little unconvinced over AMD vs Nvidia though. I don’t use ray tracing much as it seems to basically function as a lag mode, but I am expecting it to be much better on a 40 series card. No idea if I use cuda or not as I’m not really sure what it is. However DLSS seems to be a lot better than FSR, and I haven’t run into any issues on Linux with my current Nvidia GPU. They also seem to be roughly the same price for the equivalent models here in the UK so AMD don’t even have price going for them. I would basically be choosing AMD for the Linux compatibility despite still doing a lot of my gaming on Windows and not having any driver issues anyway

Schmuppes,

I’m in the same boat, with an 3700X. Upgrading my Vega 56 will be the first thing and I’m sure that the CPU will still be just fine for that. 1-2 years after the GPU, I’ll probably invest in a new platform.

JustEnoughDucks,
@JustEnoughDucks@feddit.nl avatar

You definitely don’t use CUDA then. That is hardware accelerated machine learning basically.

For you usecase then it doesn’t make much of a difference. DLSS 3.0 is indeed better than FSR, but there are few games that use it i guess. DLSS 2.x and FSR are about on par with each other and FSR is enabled in all games. . Many/most of people don’t even realize that DLSS/FSR is disabled when gaming as the vast vast majority of games don’t even have it and and most don’t think about it, I have no idea if you are in the same boat, but then it makes no sense to base a decision based off of features you don’t use, in my opinion.

Infernal_pizza,
@Infernal_pizza@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah I didn’t think I used cuda! Most reviews/benchmarks seem to place the 4070 ahead of the RX 7800XT though. The only reasons AMD is still tempting is the extra VRAM and better Linux compatibility. I’ll have to have a think about it, thanks for your help though!

arefx,

Raytea ing on a 4090 is a great experience but you need to fork over a lot of dough to experience it.

Infernal_pizza,
@Infernal_pizza@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah I definitely can’t afford a 4090 at the moment lol
