itch capitulated in like the worst way what do you mean. they nuked a bunch of stuff and stole money that they hadnt paid out to creators yet even for non-delisted games. itch is hardly “fighting censorship” in that regard. dont bother boycotting them or steam though. call visa and mastercard daily to pester them about their recent changes that have affected digital storefronts and dont let up until they reverse course. thats where your pressure will make a difference. three people refusing to buy from steam anymore will do nothing at all.
Oh, the Project Zomboid has coop? Didn’t know that. Is it friends-only or on some common server or what? Are the survival aspects (difficulty) adjustable?
It’s friends only where you can join the game a friend is running. (Also splitscreen if you’re local). It’s super customisable by the person who sets the game up. Pretty much everything is adjustable.
Iirc if you die your character becomes a zombie that can be looted. You lose all skill progress and have to make a new character. The amount of loot retained from the zombie can be modified. I think there are mods that allow you to retain skill progression as well.
my friends and I utilize a mod that records your skills in a notebook that stays on your zombie after you die. so you actually have a motivation to go back into somewhere dangerous and clean it up.
There are plenty of “private” servers that are technically open to anyone. Just follow the rules and enjoy the game.
You’ll see a lot of “B42” or “build 42” being talked about. This is the most recent major update that is still in beta. It doesn’t have multiplayer but does offer A LOT of new and improved features.
Thank you for the info. But, nah, playing with random peeps not really my thing, me and my gaming circle basically just want friends-only.
So… if I’m parsing this right, the latest version doesn’t do multiplayer, but earlier ones do? Or is this “B42” some beta-branch you need to manually select in steam->game properties?
B42 is a beta branch like you say, you have to opt in to play it. The current version does do multiplayer, I’m currently running my own server for my friends on the current version
It does! It has a lot of options too. You can do Splitscreen, or host just for friends, or hop on a server somebody else is making! If you’re hosting the difficulty is also adjustable down to most major points
Because everyone needs to remember how a company can exploit their customer base with money grab schemes like loot boxes, pay to win junk and empty unplayable shells which need loads of expensive dlc’s to make it even a little playable.
There should also be an entire wing for never finished bug simulators.
The area with actual proper games would be tiny. But it should include the old age of empires 2, city skylines 1, Kerbal space program 1 and everything from Larian studios.
I’ve finished BG3 6 times now, had a lot of fun playing Divinity 2 and am now playing divinity 1 couch coop with a friend. Their games are actually properly built, with loads of well written storylines.
The reason why it became so over hyped is because people got angry at all the other studios because Larian actually delivered properly built games worth their money. Same with Schedule 1. The game is fun but should be average compared to other games. But it isn’t average, the rest is just complete money-grab bug simulator junk.
Huh, I never really thought about it when I was on reddit but I sure ended up ignoring the megathreads.
On steam there’s often dedicated threads to post bugs/questions and somehow they make it harder for me to find a problem or solution also. I usually will find what I need in a different thread.
That’s probably why it is pinned, to burry it away from everyone eyes 🙄.
I had multiples report about the various topics that popped over the weekend, because how many of them there was on a span of a few days. Moderating them was a nightmare, so I tried to politely ask everyone to consolidate on the same thread. Somehow it ended up in insults, so I had to close it. First I considered selecting another topic, but most of the remainding ones were to foccused on one part of the issue to do such thing.
Thus, the megathread.
Trust me, I’m not a fan of the concept either, mostly because how time costly it is to maintain it, but that the price to pay to not have to spend twice the time sorting repports on various threads.
You can pirate 'em if you’re that short on cash. Most of them don’t cost too much more than €20. 0 AD is entirely free, along with all of the Super Tux games.
-Find pirating site (I don’t really know any lol)
-Download Linux executable (FTL.x86_64)
-Maybe find a way to somehow sandbox it in case that it contains malware
-Enjoy!
Well if it hurts those companies enough, they’ll ignore that organization (the same that led to pornhub deleting 80% in 2020 and removing sex ed from American schools) that’s the reason for this bullshit in the first place.
I’m not against the goal. But I have voiced that I don’t think this route/configuration of leadership will work.
I only heard about it once people on Lemmy started talking shit about this pirate guy. I hadn’t heard about him either. So it came on my radar as drama. And I ended up having a rough time sharing my point of view. People are really emotional about this intuitive. They take any criticism as an attack that could harm progress on signatures.
In the end the drama with this pirate dork ended up actually bringing positive attention that helped an otherwise flagging initiative for signatures.
But I have voiced that I don’t think this route/configuration of leadership will work.
Could you elaborate on this, beyond the one sentence? The rest of your comment makes it clear that you weren't aware, and still aren't about much of what was going on with SKG. Given that you don't have a clear understanding of what the timeline of SKG was, that does leave room for doubt that you understand the initiative. I would like to give you the benefit of the doubt, so please explain what you meant.
I don’t jive with the guy heading it up. With the way he communicates the message, with the style of video he makes, or with the approach of a petition. I think all of that combined is a weight on the effort.
That’s where I’ll leave it though. Cuz I’m just one guy. No need to throw a bunch of downvotes on this. My voice won’t hurt the cause.
Sorry, but there is no one else. Are you going to give your savings away for this? No one would, but he’s doing it.
He has an online following that expect his style of video, but regardless of that, this is the same thing that made piratesoftware hate in the projext blindly, he didn’t like the look of the guy and the aesthetics.
Really? Grow up, why do you care how the video looks? Have you ever tried writing script, setting up a studio, recording, editing, publishing and designing a video? I do this professionally and it can takes weeks or months to have something that looks moderately acceptable. Why do you care about the aesthetics? I don’t get it
You’re calling me childish, and making assumptions about what I have and have not done in video production and related fields. And I’m being downvoted for sharing my opinion after being asked for it by the OP and someone replying.
