Nalivai, do gaming w Elite Dangerous

Rimworld, but I am having fun, I’m absolutely sure of it. The best fun of my life. Which is fucking concerning.

oatscoop,

I feed the bodies of dead raiders to my pigs and GITMO-ed a Space Racist into giving up his bigoted ways.

I’m not sure how I feel about calling the experience “fun”.

Nalivai,

For a long time I’m running goodie-two-shoes settlements and I love it. They’re not woe of non-violence people, they will shoot you if you come with raid, but then they will patch you up and release you back with gifts. They make artisinal food, drinks, and drugs and then sell and gift them to everyone, and they never ever commit any warcrimes. It makes me feel nice inside, knowing that my guys are making life on a rim slightly better.

tychosmoose, do trains w What's the most realistic/reasonable source for an electric self propelled railcar conversion in rural New England?

It’s unclear if you’re imagining that power is provided along the line or if these will need to be self-powered.

If you’re looking in New England specifically then the rolling stock of MTA Metro North or CT Rail might be of interest. Assuming the protagonists will have access to a power source. I think Hartford Line CT Rail uses both third rail and overhead power, so that might make for a point of discussion about them seeking out these specific units for their more flexible powering options and voltages.

JacobCoffinWrites,
@JacobCoffinWrites@slrpnk.net avatar

I’ll take a look at those! I was imagining overhead wires but perhaps only in/near towns as resources are constrained (with the self propelled railcar using batteries when disconnected) but they’re building towards a full line eventually. Not sure how realistic that is

Tolookah, do trains w What's the most realistic/reasonable source for an electric self propelled railcar conversion in rural New England?

I would imagine the little maintenance cars would thrive in that environment. thevintagenews.com/…/speeder-motorized-vehicle-fo… I don’t know the world background, but if it’s rebuilding after some catastrophic event, the might be some car modifications to make them rail ready, stealing the wheels off of larger defunct trains.

prole,

From my previous research, a microfiber cloth and a small amount of distilled water.

Nah, I appreciated that. It’s a first look at what’s going on. It not being polished makes me trust them way more as a developer than if everything looked absolutely perfect. I’m EXTREMELY hyped

DoucheBagMcSwag,

True …it means that it’s not bullshot and it’s actually being run from a dev machine. I suppose you’re right.

Stamets,
@Stamets@lemmy.world avatar

That’s my logic behind it anyway. If I see something that is supposed to be a first look but it’s HYPER polished I get really wary. Makes me think that this one section of the game was hella focused on enough for the representation but I start wondering about whether the rest of the game got the same attention. If a game demo actually has errors and bugs and fuck ups then it shows to me that they’re working on it across the board. They’re not heavily focusing on this specific demo or anything and willing to show the faults that you should see looking at a first look. I guess it just boils down to honesty for me. If the demo is hyper polished then it feels dishonest. If it’s rough around the edges then it feels more real and genuine.

Besides, these are the same people who made the Hitman series for decades and the WOA trilogy which is a powerhouse of gaming for me. Taking on my #2 hyperfixation, right behind Star Trek? They’re probably the only dev that I instantly trusted to do a good job or at least try their best.

Probably just dumb kids who don’t understand how to play but heard friends in school talk about it. Or people like me who are caught up in life and even though I want to play I never really have the time that the games require.

I mentionee this elsewhere hours ago, but I used to have a mouse that served me so long, by the time it finally fully died, there was a BB sized hole worn through the plastic of the left button from my finger.

TehPers, do gaming w I refuse to by a new mouse

Been using this mouse for years. The scroll wheel is already spazzing out whenever I use it. Still, haven’t had any complaints about it other than that (except for needing iCue).

I don’t need all the side buttons anymore though, so I may go for something simpler for my next mouse. Still, it was the best mouse I could find with that many inputs available to it.

Comrade_Squid,
@Comrade_Squid@lemmy.ml avatar

for me its the dpi up button that some times sticks, scroll is fine though. ICue sucks, luckily Linux has ckb-next

also, what was it you originally needed the extra inputs for?

TehPers,

Originally needed them for modded Minecraft. I ran out of keys on my keyboard for all the keybindings that mods wanted.

Also tried using them in ffxiv, at least for the short period of time that I played it (fun game but I don’t have the time sadly).

GrindingGears,

ICue is the worst

I totally regret buying that elite LCD that slots over the cooler, and all those Corsair fans + the case. I mean the hardware is fine, everything has been trucking a long for a really long time, the AIO, the fans, I’ve never had a problem with any of it from a hardware perspective. But it also means I’m locked into having that friggin ICue running in the background. The amount of other programs that app interferes with and basically fucks up, is unbelievable. I’m not buying anymore Corsair stuff, and iCue is 110% to blame for that.

Nikls94, do games w Baldur's Gate 3 or Clair Obscur: Expedition 33?

I personally like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 more than Baldur‘s Gate 3. I didn’t play BG3 until like 10 minutes into chapter 2. It’s just not appealing to me. I also didn’t play Skyrim beyond exploring and the main quest.

Love tilling compositors, Swayfx then moved to Niri for a scrolling compositor.

TwilightKiddy,

Yes. Niri is my choice, too. Very convenient, especially when using a laptop with limited screen space as I do.

Might catch flak for this, but Starfield.
I just wanted something mindless where I could mix FPS with base building and RPG elements. I know there’s Fallout 4, but I want my bases looking nice. Starfield isn’t exactly the best for looks either, but it’s the best I have in my library for these aforementioned things. I’m open to suggestions, but until then I’m just going to randomly kill things on Starfield.

Vodulas,

If you don’t mind third person view, Dune Awakening has good base building. It is more survival than FPS, but I quite like it.

arxaseus,

I’ll check out some gameplay footage of it later today. Thanks for the suggestion.
Cheers!

HeyJoe, do gaming w Elite Dangerous

FF11 followed by Guild Wars. I would probably have many more if I didn’t get old and more responsibilities. When those came out, I was still living at my parents’ home for a few more years. I remember playing all night, and my parents got up and got ready for work, and I would go to bed just to avoid the shame and immediately go back on when they left.
