Semjaza, do games w Developer interview: my Q&A with the creator of Lutris

Lovely interview.

Lutris got Magic: Arena working for me on my Linux machine a few years back and gave me a very enjoyable card game grind for about 3 years until I stayed limiting MtG:A to my phone on the commute.

Amazing work both from the Lutris team, and the interviewer.

Coelacanth, (edited ) do gaming w What are the best gaming moments of the last decade?
@Coelacanth@feddit.nu avatar

I’m thinking we’re sticking with games older than this year, as the dust hasn’t settled yet so to speak? Because honestly otherwise some recent entries would qualify for me. I’m thinking of you, Blue Prince and Clair Obscur.

I have a lower opinion of BG3 than most (it’s fine), but I absolutely agree that the Raphael boss fight and music was an absolute gaming highlight, and worth the price of admission alone.

Alan Wake 2 in its entirety would qualify for me, but if one moment has to be singled out then the We Sing chapter was something else. Honorable mention for

spoilerSaga’s corrupted mind place

near the end, that was incredibly memorable.

Finally, and the real standout for me was the Final Dream in Disco Elysium. The most emotional, most impactful and heartbreaking and memorable moment I’ve had in gaming. And the most impressive seeing as Kurvitz (who wrote the scene) managed to distill the pathos and denouement of the entire game into three words to close the dream:

spoilerSee you tomorrow.

apotheotic,

Hard agree for that entire scene from Disco Elysium, that, the spoiler at the end that helps you to find the scope, and the payphone.

Calling…

Calling…

Calling…

Still calling…

Coelacanth,
@Coelacanth@feddit.nu avatar

Yeah the payphone is also up there, and honestly, opening the secret compartment in the ledger too. Which when you think about it, all those best moments are so missable. Completely psychotic by the devs.

apotheotic,

Its a game that, by all means, shouldn’t exist

SchwertImStein,

you could have also marked the Saga mind palace spoiler

That’s fair I’ll edit.

callouscomic, do games w Medal of honor on the PS1

I played this on Steam Deck last year. Great game for its time.

EncryptKeeper,

Does the Steam deck have a PS1 emulator?

bdonvr,

The Steam Deck is basically a laptop in the shape of a gaming handheld. You can install any PC software you want right out of the box.

ms_lane,

They’re being snarky, but the PSX game is different to game released on PC.

DosDude,
@DosDude@retrolemmy.com avatar

You can still install any software, including emulators.

imecth,

The steam deck is just a small pc running Linux, so yes.

PattyP, do games w Life is Strange road-trip

Was checking out lemmy and this was what convinced me to register. I loved Life is Strange back in the day and these pictures brought back some memories.

Awesome idea for a solo trip, something I should do more often. Great post op

Thanks for sharing your road trip, I love LiS, I’m currently re-downloading LiS 2 (slow internet so it takes me a dozen of hours)

thatKamGuy, do games w Medal of honor on the PS1

Not sure if this had the same campaign as the PC release (ah, the good ol’ days where games on different platforms could be completely different); but both Medal of Honor and the very first Call of Duty were formative FPS experiences for me.

EncryptKeeper,

Naw, this and the PC were different.

gurnu,

It’s a different game, you’re thinking of the sequel MoH: Allied Assault

thatKamGuy,

The moment you named the subtitle (Allied Assault), you hit the nail on the head!

WOW, I never realised that the series began on the PS1 - or that Allied Assault was the THIRD entry in the series! I guess I’ll have to add both PS1 entries to my hunt list.

Just be careful. If a quest giver gives you a time limit, like a letter saying “get here in one month”, they mean it. It’s possible to silently fail the main quest this way, but it’s also possible to get back into the main quest line via some other quest paths into it.

It’s all fairly complicated. Thankfully failing doesn’t stop you from exploring the world, interacting with NPCs, or doing other quests. You can always use the console to restart the main quest line quests when you’re ready.

I’ve been trying to stick to the deadlines assuming they’re being serious, it’s good to get some confirmation though. I assumed they were since i already knew you could just straight up decline the main story and then not be able to pick it up again

If you havent already theres a pretty cool mod on nexus that allows you to look out of windows from indoors. Its the coolest thing ever

i was helping a friend setup Daggerfall Unity earlier a few hours ago and he sent me the same mod lol. I added Dynamic skies today along with a few city ones and i meant to add that but i need to mess with my other mods first. Somehow I’ve already fucked things up because half of The city of Daggerfall is now missing
