VRChat. What does that mean? Do I literally get teleported into vrchat as I am irl? Do I have a little menu that’ll pop up on my wrist to change avatars/bodies? Can I go to new worlds or am I stuck in the last world I was in? Am I by myself in some kinda limbo-vrchat where it’s not actually a game but some kind of other universe that just appears to be vrchat, or can I actually meet up with other people? Can I get hurt or do the same rules of physics, health, food, etc apply? Is vrchat even a game?

If vrchat isn’t considered a game, then Bomb Rush Cyberfunk. It’ll be cool to be in the future I guess? The game itself is fun, but if I show up as the person I am irl, then it’ll be kinda boring. I guess I could always learn how to do sweet tricks and grinds though.

I just beat this in two sessions yesterday, it’s very very good. The puzzles are much more involved and clever, but even more cleverly designed so that you can’t get stuck and usually have some ideas of what to do.

I’ve put a couple hundred hours into RimWorld (base game without expansions) and haven’t run into any bugs. The only bugs I’ve seen relate to the multiplayer mod.

I second rimworld in general but I‘d say its a management sym rather than strategy. Real strategy games (and the best ones I know of) are starcraft 1 and c&c red alert. They’re as old as time but don’t have bugs afaik since games were made different back then.

Agreed, I would call CK3 or Rimworld “simulation” games not “strategy” games. When I think strategy I think turn based strategy like XCom, FF tactics, or Civ games. SC2 and C&C would be Real-Time Strategy, but from OP’s examples it didn’t sound like that’s what they’re looking for. Maybe they’d like Northgard though.

For platformers it’s controllers. Type varies from game to game.

For almost everything else, Keyboard & Mouse.

And lastly, the Joystick for those very singular free-flight games i might posses.

Playing something like UT or Quake, and so many more FPS benefit from the rapidity of the mouse, but timesplitters there’s no other controller than the PS or Logitech dual joystick controller (which controlled that sub that imploded recently).
