CluckN, do games w So I tried Lethal company... and didn't like it. Does it get better eventually ?

It’s the cheap snack food of games. The fun part for me was dying in crazy ways and watching my friends get the horror movie treatment.

You don’t have to like games just because they are popular. It’s clearly not for you and that’s really all there is to it, and that is ok. Go try something else that actually piques your interest.

gunpachi,

Yup, looks like it’s not my cup of tea. I just bought it to play with my friends. I guess I’ll refund it and get something else.

kurwa,

I like the game, but I wish there was more depth to it, hopefully that comes along in the future.

There are quite a few mods for the game to make it suit your tastes better

First and foremost, This is kind of a rant. I do not like horror games. I have never played any ‘strictly horror’ ones before. And yes I get scared easily.

Lethal Company is a horror game. Sure people find a lot of funny moments in it, but it’s still mainly just a horror game. If you don’t like the horror bits, the rest is just going to be boring for you. Don’t feel like you have to force yourself to like it just because everyone else does

Lethal Company is still in early access. It is anyone’s guess what will happen between now and when the game is “finished”.

If you want to combine chiptune with sea shanties The Longest Johns have an album that is all chip tune version of sea shanties. It’s called Commodore 1864.

SCvTW is a good gateway into Anamanaguchi, but their other albums are great, too.

Chipzel has already gotten a mention, but I have to say her stuff is fantastic, especially Chipped of the Necrodancer and Super Hexagon.

Developer Konjak (Joakim Sandberg) did good work on the Noitu Love 2: Devolution soundtrack, which is a free download (zip file) from his website and is very chiptune. The actual link on the website’s main page has an errant slash at the end that has to be deleted for the download to work. Some of the album can be found on YouTube if you want a preview.

Another banger chiptune to go for comes from Zircon and the work he did for the Demon Truck Soundtrack, especially https://zirconstudios.bandcamp.com/track/the-devils-mudflap-main-theme. It’s 16-bit Genesis goodness, and the game is pretty fun! Zircon’s done stuff for several games and is generally an all-around musical badass.

Herbert Weixelbaum’s on the album 8-Bit Operators: The Music of Kraftwerk is a total earworm. The album is full of good chiptunes, but that one’s my personal favorite.

You might also enjoy https://adventuresound.bandcamp.com/album/adventure. Very upbeat and energetic stuff.

Lastly, I have to give a shoutout to Zweihänder. All his stuff is pretty good, and much of it game-inspired.

Enjoy!

Don’t forget the Dicey Dungeon soundtrack. I’d love to hear some real-life rendition of Swing Me Another 6.

Rainbowdragoneyes makes good chiptune music (no fusion). Very underappreciated, it feels like.

sharkfucker420, do gaming w How are you all playing these insanely complex games?
@sharkfucker420@lemmy.ml avatar

Personally I just hop in an wing it. In the case of baldurs gate I already understood most classes and races because of DND but in general when it comes to games like that yeah I just wing it and hope for the best

MaggiWuerze,

This is it basically. Especially for the first time you don’t really need to minmax anything and still have a good time.

CountCorvinus, do gaming w How many stinkers did you play this year?
@CountCorvinus@beehaw.org avatar

I’m sure many would consider Redfall a stinker, but I enjoyed it quite a bit. And this was before the updates.

hascat, do gaming w What game company from your childhood do you remember with fondness?

Sierra entertainment! I was a big fan of the kings quest games, and Sierra online was my first experience with online gaming.

MJBrune,

I was super into Sierra as a publisher. They seemed to back some of the highest quality games no one knew about. Ground Control, Gunman Chronicles, Homeworld, Aliens vs Predators 2, Empire Earth, Die Hard: Nakatomi Plaza, and of course Half-Life. They published some quality games.

MaggiWuerze,

Don’t forget the SWAT series. Really loved the third game and always played the ‘Children of Terrone’ map on lan parties

MJBrune,

The SWAT series was amazing but now I just look back at it as copaganda.

Thelsim,

I loved the Quest games! They were my first real introduction to the English language. Simple phrases like Open Door and feed chickens were a great way to build my basic vocabulary. I kept pestering my dad for translations until he got fed up and taught me how to use a dictionary :)

I have so many great memories playing those games, on my own and together with my dad. It really was a bonding experience.

Elder Scrolls Online. According to Xbox’s 2023 year in review, I’ve spent over 750 hours in Tamriel this year.

Also been enjoying Fallout 76 and the new invasion season of Mortal Kombat 1

I don’t watch much Completionist stuff but he really seemed like he was reading a script written by a lawyer for this “response”. As well as, looking increasing angry.
